The director telling the audience to go to hell?
The audience did not appear to be engaged at all. Not they want to interfere, but they kept looking towards the stage all this time as if the interaction in the aisle was a nuisance.

I don't think there's another piece of music in the world that portrays descent into utter madness than this 7 minutes of sheer insanity that Mozart penned. Absolutely compelling and heart wrenching.
This is for sure one of the greatest moments in opera

Yes, the first one I have seen where this isn't done as literal stage business and there is no embodied animated statue. That doesn't mean it cannot work -- it obviously does.

This is an excellent version. The singing is so loud and clear and beautiful and powerful. The strings, too, are, energetic and pure and the brass rings beautifully

I was suspecting, that now.. now it would go too much.. staging would be just too much.. but no.. nothing more, nothing less, just the golden staging, setup and brilliant vocal performance.

Tadeo version is indeed the best here, but this one comes close in singing. Best modern version I found so far. Excellent baritone, but it is the otherworldly, truly gravely sounding bass that makes this scene.

Wonderful Cast - Conlon makes the Music dramatic but unhurried. Love the Staging - with the Auditorium bathed in Hellfire at the end.

Interpretazione a dir poco superba! Coglie in pieno lo spirito dei Grandissimi Lorenzo Da Ponte e W.A.Mozart. Da Tirso de Molina a Moliere per finire con L. Da Ponte l'immortale figura di Don Giovanni traccia un profondo solco culturale e filosofico che attraversa i secoli e giunge in tutta la sua "freschezza" sino a noi. È il mito "dell'uomo libero" che coscientemente sfida le forze celesti e non arretra davanti ad esse. Piuttosto precipita nell'inferno...ma UOMO LIBERO. W.A.Mozart e Lorenzo Da Ponte "tifano" apertamente per Don Giovanni e lo supportano sino alla scelta suprema. Probabilmente non avrebbero avuto il Coraggio e il Rigore Intellettuale del loro EROE.

Molto bello , Bravi tutti, compresi gli orchestrali.
un Lemporello eccezionalmente espressivo e capace che mi ha stupito, anche se un po fuori tempo sulle "membra" della "terzana",
il Don Giovanni veramente ben interpretato e gran voce mentre il Fantasma del commendatore, bella voce un po poco "oscura" e presenza per niente spettrale e anzi troppo serenamente vivo e vegeto.
Non ho apprezzato l'uscita di scena di Don Giovanni che invece deve tribolare nella stretta (vera) di mano con il commendatore, le luci rosse sono state un colpo di genio che hanno purtroppo mal reso (tutto secondo il mio modestissimo parere e gusto) solo per colpa del mancato approccio tra i due avvenuto solo troppo troppo tardi senza neanche una macchia per fumo o nebbia e nessun effetto speciale.
Però Molto bello nell'insieme, e sicuramente molto meglio di altre interpretazioni.

The singing, conducting, and orchestral work were all quite respectable. But having the Commendatore in the audience was highly unconvincing. The reverse rapture needed to be on stage with hellfire glowing and demons pulling the Don into the abyss.
