1:34 I am so so sorry to the person who said hi to me here 😭😭😭 I never realised someone said my name until I was editing 😭😭😭
Hi Jess I really hope to see you in St. Catherine one day even tho they don’t really talk about Spanish Town and Linstead etc…., it’s a wonderful parish.
. Yes. I live in St Catherine. Emancipation Square, St Jago Church and the Iron Bridge are places I take visitors to.
I also love @cameronfamilytv in old harbour bay. I have tahen trips with them to Goat Iskand.
Girl I would married to you what is ur instagram
Trevor drove off his route. He charged you more because it was a charter. It's $300 if the car is loaded with 5 passengers. $300 × 5 people equals $1500. Trevor was honest
Thank you for clarifying this. In fact, i gave Trevor a substantial tip as he was professional and courteous.
Everybody a hustle, well know we know its 3bills and the 🚌 is 2 or 1 bills
@@onestopculturaltoursjahe was so sweet!
The elders tend to be more respectful and trustworthy than the younger generation.
Yeap
I like the word “tend”.
Knowledge is everything, and so is money! Nice blog Jess, Marie sound like she living her best life out of UK. Thankyou for showing such beautiful and creative spaces.
At the end of the day, not everything is a barter. 1500 JMD is not a lot of money like it was stated on screen of the video. That's less than a tenner here in the UK. Here in LDN it costs a minimum £4 to get from A to B on trains. I don't see how anyone can expect private travel at local bus prices - the comfort level is different, and you are paying for convenience. Even 2000-2500 JMD or whatever the man stated is not a bump because that is two grown passengers he was carrying with NO other passengers to squish up next to like sardines. When I was out there, I found the locals to be very honest and fair with rates. Not everything is a hustle, sometimes people just know their worth and want to be paid accordingly in line with the service they're providing. I wonder how many of us would be charging peanuts if we were driving taxis full time for a living. I bet we'd all think we're the shit and that we deserve premium dollar rates for our services. 😂. Sometimes, see things from a different perspective and put yourself in their shoes. Yes, we come for a bargain. But they work, for profit. Nobody is offering up their time anymore to simply break even.
Yes, I acknowledge your comments.
Jess and I were seeking regular rates to share taxi with others, but they all quoted charter rates.
It was all good anyway, as we paid Trevor a substantial tip for his services.
Lovely Jess I’m glad you are having a wonderful time , keep enjoying darling 💚🤍💛🇮🇪
Mi love how you speak about Jamaica. Nuff love , bless up zeen❤
I grew up in the south side and it was hell of violence. I had family from Fleet Street. 😊
I'm sorry to hear that. Having visited the community and met community leaders and families, they are doing their bit to make a difference.

🫶🏼 thank you 🙏🏼🙏🏼
I used to work at fisherman's cabin in Port Royal .. back then, l took the ferry to downtown.
No way!! Is that still a thing? I would love to do that!
Yes, it would be great if the port authority reinstated the ferry, as it is very much needed in Kingston.
Furthermore, we now have tourists coming in via cruise ships into the Port of Kingston, so reinstating ferries may be a viable option.
@@blessupjess The ferry stopped operating years ago, used to run from downtown waterfront to Port Royal. Once JUTC started operating to Port Royal, the Ferry died out.
@@dwaynemillwood7133 well, it seems more like Jamaica is at the back of the class.. while other Caribbean islands are basting gleefully, some have investigated in ferr⛴️ as well as other attractions.
Aw!! Trevor was a vybe 🥹🖤
Love you Jess!!❤ Another amazing video we cant get enough!!
Im in London and cannot wait to get back there!! xxx
Jamaica is a top destination for tourists.
Many would be pleasantly surprised if they stepped out of their all-inclusive resorts to experienced 'authentic'Jamaica with a reputable tour guide.
Jamaica truly has so much to offer outside of the resorts.
Big up Marie, who I'll look up so you can show me Kingston.
Love this video, Port Royal, and I loved the memorials, talented artists. 💯🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿
Thank you. It would be a pleasure to meet you and show you all that Kingston has to offer 🇯🇲 ❤
Yes absolutely hit Marie up! She was amazing!!
Aww Trevor is a sweet genuine soul!
Love this vlog
Guys like comment and share the video ✨
Yes, Trevor was so genuine we had to give him a tip. Thankfully, he waited in Port Royal so we along, with two others were able to travel back for 300 jmd ( non charter rates) as the JUTC bus was not running that day.
Also love you guys and hope you enjoy, I thought this vlog was pretty funny ngl 😂
Thx. This was recorded 3 weeks ago.
As a certified tour guide operating in Kingston, I wanted Jess to experience Port Royal, a key attraction, along with 41 Fleet Street, a hidden Gem.
Kingston is often overlooked as a tourist attraction, with travellers opting for the North Coast.
I wish travellers would ignore the relentless advisors about Jamaica and come and see it for themselves.
Kingston is a vibe. There is so much to explore and enjoy, especially Downtown.
The busses are working. However they don’t have a proper schedule so sometimes the waiting time maybe long. Also asking taxi drivers about when and where to get a bus will never give you the correct answer because they are competing with the bus so they will always try and discourage you from waiting on buses.
Yes, I agree. On this day however, the 98 JUTC bus was not running, someone said they were on strike.
When I asked the taxi drivers for a price, I was requesting the regular price to share taxi with
others and was not expecting them to quote charter rates.
This vlog highlights the need for anyone visiting any country to ask a local for the price for goods or services before approaching vendors.
Our experience was not unique to Jamaica and happens worldwide.
@@onestopculturaltoursja
Ok I understand.
I hope she get the opportunity to travel on the JUTC bus too. Perhaps on a trip from half way tree to downtown or some other time. Nice tour.
Alsoooo just to put it out there, getting hustled and getting charged different prices as a tourist happens in every country and it is so normal. It’s not just in Jamaica that this happens and I’m definitely not mad about it… it’s just the name of the game 😅
Yes, I did not fully appreciate the taxi drivers were quoting 'charter rates' as I had based my argument on the fact that I had previously paid 200 jmd to go to Norman Manley airport, with other passengers. Nevertheless, I gave Trevor a substantial tip for taking Jess and I to Port Royal and paid the regular fare 300 jmd on our way back as we were sharing with others.
That's a good attitude!
Rip off
It's the name of the game because of thought processes like yours. We shouldn't call getting ripped off normal because it's done all over the world. A injustice is a injustice.
Welcome to Jamrock and downtown Kingston.
Grew up as a child in Kingston and remember all these places like Fleet Street and South Side.
Just be safe and be aware of your surroundings.
There are a lot of hustlers on the streets of Jamaica.
Blessings to you… you come to jamaica and show me my country… thanks to you… love your videos!
Well it’s not unfair because like Trevor told you it’s now become a charter because you don’t have to wait around until the taxis food so if you want to wait around until the taxi is full then you will pay your 300 but if you want to empty taxi to take just you then they gonna charge you for all the seats that they would have so it is a fair price I believe
Sweet: she was my tour guide in Kingston earlier this month @ One Stop Cultural Tours Jamaica. Highly recommend! Big up!
Big up Marie!! She was amazing 😍😍😍
Ahh. Thank you.
I absolutely love Kingston, especially Downtown, as there is much history, culture, and art to see and enjoy.
Thank you 😊 much appreciated. 🇯🇲
That taxi issue at the start..ohh my..I think I would have just walked away hahaha.
Talking about porridge,Im.just about to have some oatmeal porridge..with banana, milk and cinnamon. 😊
Hahahha Lusi I just thought it was funny 😂 plus Trevor was sweet so I’m glad we went with him 😅😅 enjoy the porridge 🫶🏼
@blessupjess Trevor was sweet..but he's smart too. He hung around so he could get a fare back. 😜
Making my porridge as we speak..Looking forward to it too. Yummy. Have fun and stay safe xo
It was all good with the taxi drivers, I simply overlooked the fact that they were quoting " charter rates" . In hindsight i ought to have asked a local of the going rates.
As stated, the JUTC bus fare is 100 jmd, however there were not operating that day.
@onestopculturaltoursja Yea I understand but I mean I just couldn't be bothered with all the haggling. I guess you had to as you needed to get where u were going. 😀
@lusimyer yes, I hear you. It was an issue at first, but as I live it here, I can honestly say that I take it in my stride.
Thanks for this! I'm a big hearted person and I get hustled too easily and come home broke lol

🙋🏾♂️Jamaica TO THE 🌎🇯🇲 🏝❤I AGREE WITH YOU 💯 %
Contrary to the negative perceptions, tourists ought to visit Kingston, especially Downtown. The people are hospitable, the museums, Kingston creathve murals, National Gallery, Coronation Market, The Waterfront, Parade etc are amazing. 🇯🇲
You guys cannot expect a taxi driver to charge you. It seems as if a tax is full as if when you take the taxi empty by yourself it’s not fair because now that guy is not having a full share for a full car so you have to pay for all those seats. This happened to me all the time when I go to PHILIPPINES if I don’t want to wait for the bus to get filled I pay for the entire vehicle is called charter.
Yes, unfortunately, the bus was not running that day, so the taxi drivers offered us charter rates to take us personally. Coming back, the car was full, so we only paid 300 JMD each.
I am sure our experience is not unique to Jamaica.
Big up urself bless up jess and big up ur friend great video

Trevor ,you guys charter his taxi, that is why it's expensive

Jess..do you have an Uber app? Use that to get an idea of the cost of where you want to go. I think Uber is reasonable in comparison, from what I've heard.
Yes, Jess is aware of Uber.
I personally use Uber to take travellers/backpackers around but outside of that I use regular taxi, coaster bus and JUTC bus to get around.
@@onestopculturaltoursja how much do you charge to take people around how does it work.

That’s how Taxie man operate listen to the elderly ones go with the one that you’re in
It was all good with the taxi men. It was about 10 am and business was slow. I overlooked the fact that they were quoting charter rates.
Are you actually living in Jamaica now or you going back to Australia?seem like you been there past 6 months now
I think it's 3 months soon. She did a video about her 3 months coming up, and she have to apply for an extension. But she misses her family back in Australia
😂😂😂the hustle is real!!..2k no no $1500 bills 😂😂 teaf
I hear you. I did not realise they were charging charter rates.
I live here and have paid 200 jmd to take the taxi with other passengers from parade to Kingston Ajrport but did not know cost to go to Port Royal. I should have asked a local.
I mean come on jamaica is not like in 1970...u know how far port royal is from. Downtown...$2000 is way reasonable and affordable...somethings u just can not bargain just support...plus u guys gonna ask to turn on the AC...
I hear you. However. We wanted regular taxis (sharing with others) and did not ask for a charter.
It was l good though and we paid Trevor a generous tip.
Coming back we paid the standard fare of 300 jmd

Trevor a di boss!
British people mean yuh frig. Trevor did not rip you off. A 30 minute drive for $1500 is quite a good deal. That's USD$10. The British lady said she didn't want to wait to move off so Trevor took that as a charter. It's usually 4 or 5 passengers at $300 each. That's $1200-$1500. Come on now. Then she said she wasn't paying the same thing going back. Why doesn't she go to a place like the United States and say she is not paying $10 for a 30 minute ride? The JUTC buses are government buses so obviously they will be cheaper. At least Jess is not a complainer although she misunderstood as well.
That thing she said about Port Royal and Pirates of the Caribbean is not true, yes its was called the wickedest city on earth but the movie is not a representation of what happened. Probably 90% if not all of the movie was fiction.
Come go inna di car go inna the car.two tourist on deck.door slam bam😀😀
Previous video was all about how other youtubers are benefitting from Jamaica and spreading negativity but here we are one video later talking about how to AVOID getting hustled....if mi laff one more time...
Not too sure how you’ve watched this video and have came to the conclusion that this is a negative video on Jamaica… this video is about teaching people how to move around Jamaica and shining light on places to go in downtown Kingston… so either you and I have very different perceptions on what is “negative” or you just didn’t watch the video. I’m going to assume the latter 🤷🏻♀️
This is the equivalent to saying a person that tells you to "look both ways before crossing" is being 'negative'. Informational awareness actually a positive
I watch many RUclipsrs who video in Jamaica, and I think your videos are the most honest. I appreciate your willingness to show the good and the bad.
Relax and quit being negative. How the heck do you see the negative in this positive video. Every RUclipsr no matter what country they're visiting is trying to make money if can. Jamaica is no different... Even Jamaican RUclipsrs are doing it.
A friend of mine wanting to go to Jamaica because of all the hype, was told to watch these vloggers in Jamaica including Bless Up Jess... a couple of weeks ago he went to Jamaica for a week, he came back and loved every minute of it.
He spent a lot of money down there, so it's positive loggers like these that make tourists come to Jamaica.
I hear what you are saying. however, this video serves to highlight that whatever country you visit, always ask the locals how much something costs before approaching a vendor.
Our experience is not unique to Jamaica.
So please don’t make it seem as if all these taxi drivers are crooked or a bunch of thieves. Yes, they don’t charge you more than the normal person, but that should be expected.
Yes, our experience was not the norm as the taxi drivers were aware the 98 JUTC bus was not running that day.
I regularly use taxis to get around Kingston and would 'big up' 99% of the drivers. 🇯🇲 ❤
Try my natural food one day am in Linstead St. Catherine......NATURAL BRUNCH..

I want Trevor’s number haha. He seemed like a nice dude
I’m from Cincinnati
What’s his name again…?
The tour guide cant come from Jamaica and be acting like a tourist
You didn’t want to rent a car ? I rent a car everytime i go to Jamaica.
I often encourage travellers to use Uber as they operate in Kingston and Montego Bay (possibly other parishes)
I have also compiled a list of reliable Uber drivers toi take travellers/backpackers to parishes, Blue Mountain etc.
Furthermore we have Knutsford Express coaches operating across the island.
@@waitaminute2015
No depend on what type of rental car you get. On average is $20-$40 a day. If you want something like Big truck or luxury car, its more money. But yes driving in Jamaica is Stressful !!
@@waitaminute2015
Like a Honda fit😂 or a Toyota passo
Why didn’t you offer him some food 🥘 instead of a drink 🥃 jess that’s not good
He simply requested we buy him a drink. 😊
Me can’t believe seh no man a yard nah through hood pon da gyal ya, unbelievable
So $300 * 4 passengers = $1,200, $300 * 5 passengers = $1,500. So a route taxi driver would make between $1200 - #1500 per trip one way. Trevor gave an extremely good deal. And because he had difficulty getting passenger for the trip back to Down Town, he decided to wait on you both instead of going back half empty or empty. That is why the other taxi men were quoting a higher price because of the risk of not finding enough passengers for the return journey.
How much is a local taxi from Montego Bay airport a half-hour trip for one person?
@@Timetravel755 between $300 to $400 per person if ride sharing or $1500 to $2000 if private chartering.
Real reasoning my don.

I don’t know of any direct taxis to Port Royal, only the JUTC goes there. I went karting close to the airport and when it was time to return not a bus or taxi. Decided to walk since google map said 30 minutes. Never walked so long in my life, from 4pm and we reach Harbour View 6pm and we had took a bus for the last 10 minutes of the journey. Because not many people live there, there aren’t many buses going there either.

Yes, there is a 98 JUTC yellow bus that runs from Parade, through to Kingston Airport and on to Port Royal. Best to take it early as it can be less frequent in the middle of the day. Alternatively route taxi, sharing with others, is 200 jmd to Kingston Airport and 300 jmd to port royal.
