Glad to hear your vehicle is still a great flyer. It is always fun when you haven't flown or driven an RC for a while. And use it again. Thanks for your comment
could you do a comparative between the Q500 and the Chroma this will help choose the best drone, or for what type of use, ability before an investment on the wrong one.
cj2006sd Until after the latest firmware update on the Q500, that is. Now it is off by default. Every time you fly, you must re-enable the audio. PITA.
xKmotx i dont know why you even want audio to be honest, as all you get is noise, most cut that out or add music to the videos, at least this way it makes editing a few clicks easier.
Friskle123 1) The in-flight audio is a useful diagnostic tool for troubleshooting the performance and flight mechanics of the quad. 2) It can make a cool background sound underneath a music or voice track. 3) I personally like the sound that motors and propellers make. 4) In my video editor it takes two clicks to separate and eliminate the audio track. :)
Yes i understand that, i have flown them for years, the main factor being you can at least turn it back on or off when wanted or not, atm the money is there to go get one from our LHS, but just cant make up my mind, i have a few already, plus a wookong, but to get these features i have to add to it, and buy an Ipad, something i wont be forced into, this is ticking all the boxes for me, easier transport, i dont "need" 4k, i could have one in 30 mins, but im terrible at saying "thats it, go buy it" lol
This is the best overview of the Chroma I've found so far. Good job! FYI - from what I understand the CGO2+ camera should record audio - apparently there is a setting on the ST10+ to enable this. Can you tell me how firmware updates happen on the Chroma? Do you have to pull the cable out the battery compartment and connect to a PC, or do you use the included USB cable to connect to a PC via a USB port on the Chroma?
Jeff Sibelius Yes, we talked to Horizon and they told us that you can turn it on. We didn't know that until after the video was published. As far as the firmware update, I'm not sure. You will probably have to contact Horizon Support on that.
Jeff Sibelius Yes it does do audio...so If you want to use it with the hand held gimbal mount you can use the same camera to shoot stable ground video as well.
This was a really useful video demo of the Chroma and its features. I have been undecided about building a drone or buying a ready-to-fly drone. Can you tell me if the motors, props, batteries, radio on the Chroma are upgradable with third-party components?
+Bob Reed yes there are different options four blades As far as the transmitter yes you can get a better one but it will have to be made by Spectrum to be compatible. There are few brands of Motors that will drop in as well.
It has the track me and follow me functions. But as far as we know it does not have for you to track it. However that being said it does have an active GPS unit in it and I know people can track your phones that way so I think there should be a way to do something like that on the quad. We will do a little more research on this topic and update the post.
hi.. can i fly my blde chroma indoor and can i adjust trim to make it stable indoor flight? and im having gps signal lost.. how can i fix it.. i have heard of a large gps available.. what is it.. thank you
it is possible to remove the camera from the 4K model to put a pro go because I want to use to go pro for live transmission in performances, and 4k for possible recording, or has the pass trough of 4k? I have to use a Video Tx / Rx? thank you
Thankyou for your reply Sir, look's like a realy nice place to live...Big Country style. Am i to assume you are also into the LSR scene too? as i am thinking you are in the same area as the famous Salt flat's where the Discovery channel show Myth Buster's filmed some of their escapade's. Anyhow...i bought a recond QX3 with the CGO2 unit from a local electronic's chain store here in Dublin for a very reasonable price....the only problem i've had with it was that when i tried to fly it without the GPS did not go very well as i thought it would. i've had over two year's flying my way up from a Hubsan micro in 2014 through to my first brushless machine...an RcLogger which i added the heavy lift kit and some self made extended leg's made from some wax coloring pen's and styro ball's attached by some wire tie's...which worked out surprizingly well at carrying my NoPro clone sport cam in late summer 2015. I am totaly hooked on this new side of the Rc hobby as i am also a keen amature Photographer of about 25/6 year's. Greeting's and Best wish'es from North county Dublin,Ireland.
Eric White CGO2+ does not have one...not to say that you couldn't fabricate something. BUT the CGO3 4k DOES come with a removable ND filter so it can be replaced if scratched or damaged or removed if you chose to not use it. Wish the CGO2+ had it, but glad Yuneec listened and made if part of the CGO3 though.
Hello, i got my Blade Chroma ST10+ CG02 almost 1 year ago. I am now looking for FPV Google glasses that would be compatible with it ? Fat Shark Teleporter V4 ? Fat Shark Dominator HD V2 Goggles ? FatShark Dominator V3 FPV Goggles ? SkyZone FPV glasses ? Headplay HD Goggles ? Which would you recommand for an immersion and abordable price ? Thank you in advance.
Thomas Bruyninckx you hearing about DJI flyaways is like my nephew hearing about the monster under his bed... it doesn't exist. good luck with your piece of chroma lol. i "hear" the propellers won't stay on during flight
+Brents Pepper Well actually i ended up by buying the phantom 3 a few months a go. No regrets so far. And no fly away!😄 . The live vieuw i phenomenal . Also 2 weeks a go there was a huge update with intelligent flight modes. Works fine. And the camera went from 1080p full HD to 2.7k. Glad i did not went for the professional now.
+Thomas Bruyninckx I'm sorry, did you get the Pro or Advanced version of the Phantom 3? and yea, the fly always that were happening were with a lot of the earlier phantoms, not saying it still couldn't happen, but its very rare! that's why if your not a good pilot outside of GPS mode, Its good to train and prepare for something like that.
+filip stevens Follow Me When Follow Me is enabled, the aircraft is leashed to the pilot, who is controlling the ST10+ location. With this feature, flying and capturing video following the pilot is easy, flexible and intuitive. Watch Me When Watch Me is enabled, the 4K camera stays pointed at the pilot, holding the ST10+, in focus and in frame, no matter which way the drone is maneuvered.
Just watched your video, very impressed! I like your sites price, they all, the quadcopters, seem to be about the same price for this feature set whatever the brand. In the video, even in shade it looked like a whole lot of reflection in the screen on the controller, how is it in sunlight? What do extra batteries cost and how long does the stock one last? Same as others, 20 to 30 minutes? I AM GETTING A CAMERA COPTER!!! So since the market has grown so much I'm doing the shopping! This one is a good possibility with what I've seen. Thanks!
When it comes to the visibility on the screen on the controller it is OK. The Sun glare does get to it just like a cell phone. So just try to stand with your back to the Sun. The batteries are about $120 a piece. The flight times depending on weather and how you fly it around 25 to 37 minutes.
Nice video, thank you. Can you tell me what mm lens this upgraded CGO2 camera has? I have the first CGO2, and it's a 5mm. I'm trying to figure out if they kept this wide lens and just corrected the distortion or if it's a tighter mm like 18mm or 35mm
Hey guys, did you notice that a WHITE LIGHT appears at south ouest of the Chroma at 10:58 , doesn't move...begin to bright more... and, SUDDENLY, something very strange is happening at 11:15..hmm hmm
Have not flown mine for a while.Last night decided to put charge on the batter. All I am getting is the green flashing light (ready to charge) What am I missing?
+TheJWolfProductions I would call Horizon Hobby and have their help troubleshooting the issue.since it is a lipo battery it is key that you always store it somewhere around half charged. If it has been sitting totally discharge the battery there is a chance it may be bad.
Great Vids, Now this question goes out to all who have the knowledge, which out of the Chroma, Q500 or Phantom do you prefer, I would need ease of use as im a noob, and ideally the quietest copter out of the three, any advice would be great, as my mind is getting cooked watching all the different reviews, Thanks In Advance
The blade hands down is the most forgiving to fly easiest to use and the quietest. We have owned and flew all of them. As well as seen many of them crash and repaired then
+Robert Bowen the cog+ is capable of sound recording. It is able to be turned on and off with the transmitter. I like the sound on cause I like to hear what the props are doing. Of course during playback the volume can be turned down or up.
David Long This is made from components by Yuneec. As a Yuneec Q500 Typhoon owner, I'd be much more confident about this drone than any of those you mentioned. Yuneec makes a great product.
David Long I consider the Inspire to be in a slightly different class than the Typhoon or Chroma, based on price alone. I think the new Typhoon 4K is going to be selling for about $1300, same with the Chroma. The Inspire is selling for about $3,000. When I was drone shopping this spring, the DJI Phantom 2+ was in my shopping cart until I read the stories about the fly away issues they were having. I also read a lot about the problems people were having getting customer support. Since I didn't see any fly away stories about the Typhoon, and I read that Yuneec's customer service was excellent, I went with the Typhoon over the Phantom 2+. Don't get me wrong - the Phantoms are a really great machine with a really great feature set, but I'm not interested in watching $1300 worth of hardware fly away, never to be seen again. I'm hoping that the Phantom 3 is more fly-away resistant because I'm considering adding a new drone to my hangar, and the Phantom 3 is right at the top of the list - as long as the fly away issue has been resolved. The more recent stories about DJI's customer support are much more positive, so there is hope. The ability to create an automated flight plan, along with Light Bridge technology, certainly makes the Phantom a more versatile machine than the Typhoon, but all those features are useless if it takes off on me. Not sure what your skill level is (mine is slightly above novice), but I'm able to capture really great video with my Typhoon. It's incredibly easy to fly, and it's super stable. For the money, I think it's the best out there right now.
DaveIn NH Of course, you were asking about the Chroma, and not the Typhoon. Going back to my original post, the Chroma is, for all intents and purposes, a mini Typhoon because the components are from the same company. Since the Chroma is a little smaller, I imagine it might not be quite as stable, but I doubt there's much difference. The Chroma is probably a very good choice.
the blade chroma is $1100 here in my town, i havent looked on ebay yet or online though. only experience i have is a hubsan toy drone so ill deff have to take it slow whether i get chroma or typhoon
can this be programmed to do grid flights , eg , 1.5 km south then return back to start and rerun the same route only 3 metres to the west and continue this pattern to cover a 5km sqare area at 3 m intervals ????
You get around a quarter of a mile of video relay and about three quarters of a mile of radio range. With a little bit of variance depending on terrain and weather.
You get around a quarter of a mile of video relay and about three quarters of a mile of radio range. With a little bit of variance depending on terrain and weather.
+StarGazer56 cgo3 is 4k, the cgo2 is 1080p. I chose the 1080p because I don't have anything to view 4k on and would just have to dumb it down to be able to view it anyway.
I am not sure on a answer because the st10 is intended and usually comes with that blade chroma quadcopter. As they are both Horizon products there may be a way. If you are able to figure out a way please post and let us know and it may help others as well.
can anyone tell me exactly what type we see here in the video? I wanna buy it and seem to come out at E-Flite Chroma Camera Drone BNF , is that correct?
The blade chroma would be the favorite. It is extremely reliable and does exactly what you want it doesn't do anything weird or unexpected. The telemetry is also cool. The controller is awesome as well.
Any sense of what the top speed is? I've got a Q500. It gets fantastic video, but the Q is a very slow beast and the pace of the footage isn't always as dynamic as I'd like. I'm thinking of purchasing a Chroma BNF. if it's able to capture faster paced video. The Q500 has a top speed of about 17 mph. Any idea how fast the Chroma is?
DaveIn NH All Blade models seems to very slow and non-aggressive in flight characteristics. I find it annoying, but if you are a beginner, it can be easier for you to control. However, you will end up pretty quickly asking for more speed and at least I havent found a way to speed it up.
DaveIn NH Limited to 15 in Angle mode. If you hold the right stick down and flip the flight mode selector 4 times then it switches to a second set of flight modes (Acro and agility). Acro is no auto leveling, and agility is capable of about 45 mph.
Raymond Nerona Yes it does do audio...so If you want to use it with the hand held gimbal mount you can use the same camera to shoot stable ground video as well.
From what we've seen here at the shop and experience of our main quad guy. The blade chroma is the most dialed in quad out of all of the leading quads on the market. I think we've mentioned in one of our earlier post is the most easiest and forgiving to fly.
WOW, I just chatted with Horizon hobby "Tim" , I ask him if the "Fly Away issue been resolved ? and tells me .." I have never heard of Blade fly aways" .. , and I copy and pasted this RUclips link to him. I ended chat with this vid.., then he replies, 6 month warranty, which I still cannot find on their website. I actually have a 500+ and 4k Yuneec, and was looking for something a bit smaller for indoor real estate.. Oh well, still looking. Great vid by the way. 30 minute wait time numerous times must be the " I hope he hangs up " wait period from issues like this, sucks!! I'm with you bro.
+Vortex Hobbies R/C Hobby Store This Drone bolts!! it gets a GPS lost warning and heads off in a random direction, if i was alone with this issue i would take it on the chin but clearly a lot of people have shared this expensive and sad experience! watching your dollars head off into the Abyss is just not worth it!
DUDDEEEEE!!!!! Pleaseeeee i need your help so bad!!! first off i wanna thank you so much for all your videos, They're so helpful! but can you please please make a video on how to upload your footage to your mac????? I've recorded so many video but i cant open them on my computer, ive tried converting them, ive tried contacting Horizon hobby but like always they're no help!!!! PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!
+Emmanuel Delacruz so first off isn't recording them in MP4 format let me know what format is on the SD card in your quadcopter. Then what is the error message you're getting is it just saying unable to read the format of the file on your Mac computer?
Im a very new noob. i have only flown the ones with no camera. And not quads. Just the ones that look like Helicopters. I want to get one of these that have some flight time. I know none of them fly long. But want one that will fly long enough to make at least 10 minute videos. I will get extra batteries to keep flying, and wont have to keep charging the same battery just to make another video. i see the cheap ones in stores. But dont know what place to look for the good ones, except the internet.
Is it just me or did Horizon Hobby get the transmitter is ass backwards, FPV screen should be at the top, not the bottom. notice when you place your hands on the transmitter, you hands/and or arms will partially cover the screen. DUH! Horizon !
FYI I just had a fly away tonight with my Blade. I will see what they have to say. Totally random was flying fine and took off deadstick into a building.
I always found the Body to be the weakest part of the 350QX Is it thicker? great job indeed I will keep the $1100.00 get myself a 4Ktv and enjoy watching other fly through smart tv Lol.
I'm hoping someone makes a video showing a 30 minute flight time. I don't care if it's a hover, if you have the time please post a video of a 30 minute flight time and also to reduce the video length you could fast forward the video by x8. It's just hard for me to believe in a 30 minute mass produced drone for under $1300.
Eric White Ill second that. Im going out on a limb here, but maybe if you took camera gimbal off it MIGHT be possible...with though....ill have to see it to believe it.
Eric White You won't. It averages about 20 minutes over several flights and multiple batteries. Whether it be a stationary hover or more hands-on flying, there's little variance in flight times, and never near 30 minutes. The flight times are still decent, but it's upsetting that it's consistently off by 1/3 from what they claim. Horizon won't comment beyond "Well, we got 30 minutes."
bearsuc .bearsuc According to Horizon, the batteries have always been 6300mAh, and were mislabeled initially. Good to know someone is getting something closer to the advertised 30min though.
This drone is not worth $499 plus $120. For a battery that's crazy I don't like manufacturers that tell you that you have to use their batteries and chargers I have five charges they work with all my batteries I have the Q 500 and the blade Qx3 you could change batteries on the blade you could use any brand as long as it fits and the q500 if you really want to there's is a EC3 connector in the back if you want to could run a wire on the side and use a different battery very easy to do
I just pulled mine back out and still flies great
Glad to hear your vehicle is still a great flyer. It is always fun when you haven't flown or driven an RC for a while. And use it again. Thanks for your comment
could you do a comparative between the Q500 and the Chroma this will help choose the best drone, or for what type of use, ability before an investment on the wrong one.
Yes please!!
The CG02+ camera has audio, but must be enabled via the ST10+ transmitter in one of the menus. The audio is switched off by default.
xKmotx Now that is odd...the Yuneec Q500 uses the same CG02+ and ST10+ as well and audio is already on.

What's your thoughts on the lily?
If you were going to choose between the blade chroma 4k or the yuneec Q500 4k, which one would you pick?
This is the best overview of the Chroma I've found so far. Good job!
FYI - from what I understand the CGO2+ camera should record audio - apparently there is a setting on the ST10+ to enable this.

Nice review and I like that you did the size comparison, I was wondering about that.
does this have any kind of feature that helps find the quad if it gets away from you and you need to look for it?

Is it easy to install the 2.4 and 5.8 antenna and boosters in the remote?
You can record sound. You have to turn on the mic in the Camera menu on the controller!
+Terrence Francis that is correct it is disabled from the factory and you have to reenable it.
How much are all versions for? Thxs
hi.. can i fly my blde chroma indoor and can i adjust trim to make it stable indoor flight? and im having gps signal lost.. how can i fix it.. i have heard of a large gps available.. what is it.. thank you
+Arman Arellano of course you can fly indoors typically it you will not get good GPS or may not get any.
What is the difference between the blade chromas large gps and the regular one ? Will it make a difference in gps lost issues for chroma?
Thanks for the 411. Happy flying
We aim to please thanks for checking out are video.
seeing as they are both yuneec products, does the chroma2 camera also use the q500 4k "wizard" follow me device?
it is possible to remove the camera from the 4K model to put a pro go because I want to use to go pro for live transmission in performances, and 4k for possible recording, or has the pass trough of 4k?
I have to use a Video Tx / Rx?
thank you
The camera record sound. You have to turn it on in the transmitter.. He blessed

Yes
I heard about all those phantom 'fly away's'. I think i'm gonna go with this one, but the 4K version. Was this the cgo2+ camera? Good review

It's obviously Nasa's green screen failing, the drone is cgi 😁
how do i take my video off of the drone onto my computer/youtube/social media
They usually run an SSD card in them. And depending on the model some can do direct stream to RUclips.

It can't be setup to fly grids.. Be blessed
What kind of range does the Chroma get?
You get around a quarter of a mile of video relay and about three quarters of a mile of radio range. With a little bit of variance depending on terrain and weather.

does the gopro compatible chroma have the 5 1/2 inch touch screen display on the control?
No it does not have the screen, it comes with the Dx4 controller.
there is one on horizon hobbys website that is for the gopro and comes with the st10+ $499
What is a better camera, the CG02 or the CG03
+StarGazer56 cgo3 is 4k, the cgo2 is 1080p. I chose the 1080p because I don't have anything to view 4k on and would just have to dumb it down to be able to view it anyway.
Does the CGO Steadygrip work with the camera?
justscubasteve Yes it does.
Hello! St10 controle binding blade qx3 350?
I am not sure on a answer because the st10 is intended and usually comes with that blade chroma quadcopter. As they are both Horizon products there may be a way. If you are able to figure out a way please post and let us know and it may help others as well.
can anyone tell me exactly what type we see here in the video? I wanna buy it and seem to come out at E-Flite Chroma Camera Drone BNF , is that correct?
+Yokozunastyle yes the one he's showcasing is the blade chroma.
Witch drone do you prefer this one or the q500?
The blade chroma would be the favorite. It is extremely reliable and does exactly what you want it doesn't do anything weird or unexpected. The telemetry is also cool. The controller is awesome as well.
does the 4k q500 camera record sound?
I still should it should just be a setting that is turned off you just need to enable it.
Multicoptercenter Thanks for the info. I'm sure there's something out there that's a little faster. Wonder about the Parrot.
DaveIn NH Limited to 15 in Angle mode. If you hold the right stick down and flip the flight mode selector 4 times then it switches to a second set of flight modes (Acro and agility). Acro is no auto leveling, and agility is capable of about 45 mph.
dude what do u think is the best | Blade Chroma | or | Scout x4 | or | Hubsan x4 pro high |??????
+Mr. Coolypoody Are helicopter expert at the shop says the blade croma is the best quadcopter he is flown yet.
Idk but i think the chroma is nearly the same as the yuneec q500
WHAT WILL BE THE RANGE FOR THE VIDEO FEED?
The range will vary a little bit but we have had it out a half mile and still have gotten video signal.
do we have a option for extending the range?
and what will be better option the q500 or the chroma? for stability, video and photos
Does the cgo2+ record sound?
Raymond Nerona Yes it does do audio...so If you want to use it with the hand held gimbal mount you can use the same camera to shoot stable ground video as well.
which is better chroma or q500?
From what we've seen here at the shop and experience of our main quad guy. The blade chroma is the most dialed in quad out of all of the leading quads on the market. I think we've mentioned in one of our earlier post is the most easiest and forgiving to fly.
its better maybe (for me) if the monitor were above the sticks rather than below it. Overall very well build quad.
Nice drone........
By the look of the temple at 11:57 you must be flying in Utah.
Yep that would be correct in West Jordan Utah.
cool. I am really liking this one after watching a ton of videos. it seems like you get a lot for what you pay.
Camera does record sound, you have to turn it on. Every time.
I'm with you bro.
this quadcopter is worth every dollar
Yes because of its ease of use. You can have fun with this quadcopter no matter where you are flight ability is.
+Vortex Hobbies R/C Hobby Store This Drone bolts!! it gets a GPS lost warning and heads off in a random direction, if i was alone with this issue i would take it on the chin but clearly a lot of people have shared this expensive and sad experience! watching your dollars head off into the Abyss is just not worth it!
horizon states that the batteries are mislabeled. they are 6300 ma.
But dont know what place to look for the good ones, except the internet.
the chroma gets only 10 satellites when flying? my phantom 3 gets like 19 to 20
***** It depends on where you are
why is the screen on the bottom? do NOT like that part of the cont.
Is it just me or did Horizon Hobby get the transmitter is ass backwards, FPV screen should be at the top, not the bottom. notice when you place your hands on the transmitter, you hands/and or arms will partially cover the screen. DUH! Horizon !
Rick Williams Hands/arms haven't been a problem covering the screen, but if you use a neck strap, it definitely does.
FYI I just had a fly away tonight with my Blade. I will see what they have to say. Totally random was flying fine and took off deadstick into a building.
i like how the chroma radio takes like 15 minutes before its done booting up lol
+Eric White Doctor Drone has done a video showing a 27 min flight time
Can you send me the link.
bearsuc .bearsuc According to Horizon, the batteries have always been 6300mAh, and were mislabeled initially. Good to know someone is getting something closer to the advertised 30min though.
This drone is not worth $499 plus $120. For a battery that's crazy I don't like manufacturers that tell you that you have to use their batteries and chargers I have five charges they work with all my batteries I have the Q 500 and the blade Qx3 you could change batteries on the blade you could use any brand as long as it fits and the q500 if you really want to there's is a EC3 connector in the back if you want to could run a wire on the side and use a different battery very easy to do
6300 mah*
COOL!
+Brian McQuain thanks for watching our video
Looks like a Yuneec copy
+LARRY D It says on the box "Yuneec".
Yuneec Q500 is the best!
wow that's a horrible quality !!!
