I've wanted to work on something from Undertale since the game came out, and this is my personal favourite of the huge soundtrack. I also noticed that there aren't that many more orchestra-based arrangements of the theme out there and thought it would be a great chance to get to work with some new percussion. I'm definitely going to work on more Undertale music in future, a lot of the boss themes especially seem really nice to work with.

Without that extra "oomph" that everyone keeps mentioning, it sounds more like the lead-up to a final dungeon than actual final boss battle material.
Besides that, this remix has a rather heroic feel; while it's a nice sound, it's unfitting for the circumstances to say the least.

+I'm Very Angry It's Not Butter my experiencie with the battle was similar to that, it didn't feel as much as a progressive battle but rather an obstacle course, a dungeon, a test to endure in order best your enemy, you didn't kill sans by defeating him, you outlasted, for me at least, this music is even more fitting than the final battle, but again, that's just me, i didn't feel it was a battle

I can almost imagine this playing were you instead in control of Sans, and this plays right before he engages in combat with Chara. Definitely not fitting for the battle in genocide mode, but were the circumstances a bit different, I feel this would be great for a heroes theme, or at least for someone finally standing up and taking you on to avenge his fallen friends.

This is a pretty heart warming remix to hear, as it holds something unique compared to _most_ megalovania remixes, which is that it doesn't use any of that hardcore house/dubstep/trap stuff, but uses a much softer, kinder-to-the-ears sound that is pleasant to listen to.
It is graceful and epic instead of anime-battle-ish. That's the only way it can be put.

i like some of th dubstep remixes it makes it feel and sound powerful but this one makes it sound like an adventure but still feels powerful
I agree. The classical instruments are better at conveying emotions and big concepts as they're very touching and they have a heavy/grand feeling.
The more modern instruments gives you a mobile/light feeling as well as well as a ton of energy but lacks that connection to the heart that the classical instruments do.Often It feels neutral because of that.
The other orchestrated Megalovania that I found is more soaring and large, whereas this one is a bit more subdued and yet determined. This one feels very Kingdom Hearts-y to me, which is great! I love both, and this is a cool approach!

I like this! I imagine this as the version sans would hear as he's battling Chara/Frisk/The Player, as it sounds more heroic and emotional than most other remixes I've heard. Great job!
Really good! It could use some more intense percussion, but that might just be personal preference.
I'd love to see you make some more of these. (Spider dance would be a good pick, I'd say...)

I gotta admit, this is now one of my favorite remixes of this song. Personally, I love the feel of this piece, it sounds heroic, and I think it's an interesting take on Megalovania; since most of the remixes I've heard have an almost sinister vibe. I think this piece does a great job by giving off a more heroic vibe, since Sans is trying to stop the player (who's evil in the Genocide route), which kinda makes him a hero? I just love this so much, and I can tell you put a lot of thought and love into this 👍 This piece is a 10/10 for me.

Very nice... Still, I felt like it could've used a bit more 'oomph' behind it; some more power to the instruments throughout. Didn't quite feel like it was putting you in the middle of the most intense battle of the game. For what it was, though, it was nice.

So for this oomph that he mentions, I actually think you need the main melody to kind of be more focus and have the orchestra accompany it like a concerto. Since you chose strings to play the main melody for a while, I think you could have made a violin play sharp short sounding notes to give off the vibe you started with from the piano. Also the first time this part of the melody comes in at 0:50 or 0:51 you could have just stuck with the trumpet like sound the original had, if not a more enhanced version. Overall a more short and sharp (not musical sharp) kind of sound would add this "oomph". But certainly well done nonetheless.

You know... if this game had been the one to really kick things off instead of games like Final Fantasy... where would videogames be today? Would they be the same, or would story have taken a more important role sooner? Who knows...

From NES and point pushers to suddenly the advent of story driven and the large number of adventures in the 90s...and then down to the more mindless on-the-go games and the like of today. Honestly I think we would've been in the same place more or less. There's still games like these, we just have much more to sift through to get them.
Undertale isn't meant to be the most story driven game anyways, there are plenty of better stories out there because they have more detail and intricate interactions, Undertale is just a reminder, it's a voice that pushes towards getting enjoyment out of a game rather than seeking to just complete it.
+Koe Kipper Undertale would never have had the same impact without having the classic RPGs as a foundation. Play through Undertale again and see how much it plays with or subverts built-up player expectations. It's a major part of what makes the game so amazing.
This is definitely a more heroic rendition of Toby Fox's Megalovania which definitely fits Sans' struggle as opposed to Chara's theme better.

Never have I been so roused by any orchestral work in my entire life.
I can just imagine as sans in quiet, shakey voice confronts the human in the judgement hall for the first time, an orchestra of the ghosts of the fallen monsters warms up behind him, and as the battle begins, the somber ghost of papyrus walks up to the conductor’s stand ruffles his papers, nods to napstablook as he fiddles with the speakers, lifts his arms, and as sans launches his first attack, begins the piece. The only other difference to this battle is that sans is much less protective of his emotions. He doesn’t pun, his voice is quiet and sad, and he actively cries throughout the battle. The human is the only one able to hear music normally, but sans can just barely hear the orchestra, and that keeps him going.
0:15 - you got that right - I have to write 5 papers in 24 hours for finals, and I got no sleep at night, because I was writing an unrelated another paper. This song really has filled me with determination!
I can see this song being used almost as a trailer for undertale, with a focus on Sans and this fight in particular. The song seems like it would shine with the MC walking across different landscapes and showcasing the world a bit.
That thing you started at 1:48 where it starts to go hard - it feels disappointing that it fell back down instead of continuing an in your face ramping up in power and urgency. When does the real battle finally begin? I'm not having a bad time.
Through the entire track you have the problem of low volume on whoever's carrying the melody at the time. I like the booming drums compared to the background arrangement, but the main melody line should be able to hold its own against the percussion.
That said, I do love the choice of background arrangements with the little fiddly bits you've added and improvised going off. They really give it flavor and fit in well.
Release this remix on spotify cause i wanna have a workout while hearing this so it fills me with determination!
I've spent the past half hour checking out Megalovania remixes. I love the variety I've seen seeing in speeds/tones.
Love that this is an orchestral style version that also sticks with the intense energy of the original. Great work.

Very good ofc. Here's some critiques I have (note they're really picky). Hope it helps :D
-I feel like 0:17 could use some choir. Also, the high strings could be much less separated. In particular I'd have the eighth note F lead into the D sixteenth note. Make that D have a touch of a crescendo, and be much longer.
-Laser-gun bass at 0:29 is an interesting choice. Idk I think it's a bit much
-Melody needs to be heard at 0:34. Way too much bass.
-Dig that forte-piano at 0:39.
-At 0:42, you're putting way too much stress into "G" in the melody.
-Okay no, 0:52 needs to cut out the background noise. Emphasize the melody there.
-At 1:08, it sounds like a repeat verse. Make this one more interesting.
-1:37 - nice. You should really find use a different trombone sound though. It's way too bright and marcato for this. Consider a euphonium or similar.
-1:48 - that bass does not belong here, bud. You've got an orchestral mood, and you drop in a synth bass? Idk it just doesn't fit the instrumentation tbh
-1:51 - okay actually the bass would be really chill, just include it more so it doesn't sound out of place at 1:48
-1:53 - wait where'd the synth bass go? you can't just drop it like that and just pull it out. nu
-2:06 YOU WAIT UNTIL NOW TO PUT IT BACK HWAT
-2:12 Was about to comment about YOU NEED TO EMPHASIZE THE MELODY when I realized this was just the second repeat.
-3:12 way too abrupt of a cut-off, especially with the cymbals
-3:25 you can't just pull all that energy right out of your ass. build up to it man
-3:30 HWAT YOU CAN'T JUST INJECT THE LAST LIKE THREE BARS WITH A FUCKING QUADRUPLE FORTE AND AN AWESOME LASER BASS AND THEN JUST END IT. NO. STAHP.
OVERALL STUFF
-Whole note strings/organ stuff needs to be way more quiet.
-Emphasize the melody
-In need of better instrumentation/soundfont
Going into this video, I wasn't expecting an orchestral remix to of Megolovania to be able to capture the spirit of the song.
Let's just say, I was pleasantly surprised. It works surprisingly well!

This music is perfect for building up to the climax that is the actual fight. Imagine this playing while Sans was judging you for your sins prior to the big encounter.

In my opinion, I feel like this is better that the original because of how intense and sad it is, not to mention the nice catchy beat in the background. :D
I remember how everyone argued whether it was Sans theme or "Frisk"s. Sounds like it would be playing for Sans because the way this orchestra piece was made, it seems befitting of a monster man out to save the world.
I see a lot of people wanting an 'oomph' but I feel like this was the best version of itself. Like a million needles is more powerful than 1 hammer kinda thing, ya know?

I love the start to this, and it gives me chills every time, but then it just sort of whoompfs into the main melody, and there's no real "BAM AWESOMENESS". The strings just playing long notes really just make it seem comfortable, not on edge. I still love this piece, but it'd be improved tenfold if there was more tension to it.

Why do i think this would be the song of Frisk vs Chara. Just think of it, proving yourself to be a true champion so you conquer your demons... literally. The entire time this song playing in the background.... I WANTS IT FOR HARD MODE!
