I've already installed this app after watching your video, and I tried all the free filters. It's amazing. The pictures are way better than the original iPhone camera app. Most of my friends can't believe that the pictures are from the iPhone and that I haven't edited them at all. I think the story to follow here is that Leica LUX has been born out of Leica's acquisition of Fjorden. Their phone grip is quite wonderful in bringing 'real camera' ergonomics to the iPhone. This app is what I am hoping the first step in a roadmap of tighter integration between iPhone and Leica. Watching this space with interest. Agree with your assessment for now - the app is decent but not there yet.
Thank you for your candid evaluation. I strongly believe that the reason for Leica to bring this app is to decide if it will sell in the US. If it does, it will be worth it for Leica to bring to the US the Leica phone currently available only in Japan, especially after having acquired Fjorden. And I don't think that this app is going to sell.
Great video Alex. Agree with you. I tired it and it has weird artifacts around the subject and the areas out of focus. I own the 50 Noctilux f1.2 and has nothing to do with the rendering. However I'm excited where this computational photogrpahy is going. I always said that lenses will be reduced to one wizard of a lens and tons of Ai handling the rendering...Sad but that's where the evolution seem to be going. The RAW capability of the Iphone 14 Pro Max is better than some of the larger sensors counterparts. In the end a great photo is a great photo. Lightroom does a better job with the Bokeh Ai feature.
Tried it and agree with your assessment. The color and B&W profiles are great. The lens simulations are terrible. Try it on flowers and the subject extraction fails spectacularly. Thanks for the review!

Even with the recent update to the app, the Aperture mode still not as good as the camera app. Got a little bit better, but still not good.
BW high contrast is in the app for free buddy 😂 or at least in the app on my phone. Btw varlens is also quite good with jpeg simulations.
Yeah the looks are nice, but the portrait mode is so yikes haha. I wish they would release those looks for the SL2 generation by the way

Zero reason to buy this if you already own a Leica. If you don’t, even Leica DLux8 will take better photos 😛
the bw "looks" are closer to the q3 than the color ones.

Get Xperia 5V phone with excellent bokeh implementation and camera quality. You won't regret. Forget leica for it over rated camera
