What's really Crazy is that Mai Shiranui actually has an Ancestor somewhere in the *"Samurai Shodown"* series, Similar to how Eiji Kisaragi who also has an Ancestor in *"The Last Blade"* series (Zantetsu).
When this game isn't filtered and blurred, I can see clearly SNK reworked many sprites for all characters. Why they didn't try to make them a better resolution back them?! They were not being "held back" by neo geo hardware anymore, capcom had other games to keep them afloat, but Arc was their "competition", and they were making full use of HD resolution. This still baffles me.
