This bridge is so addictive that the CIA tried to sell it in black neighborhoods 😭 (lets see how many of y'all will get this one 👀) when they go "ooooh like a tunnel" I started levitating P.S. This is the 2nd SKZ video in a row that I've taught a whole music production course! I'm about to start giving out diplomas at this point 😹🦁
That bridge is the ONLY SINGLE line in the whole SKZ choreagraphy where I stop singing along, and just take in Bang Chan's heavenly vocals. And yes, it's divine and addicting. I love it so so so much 😊 I'm happy you discovered this gem. Also, I fully enjoyed the full drum panning, because i've just started getting into mixing last month, and every nugget of knowledge is much appreciated. I totally get the neurological logic (I work in neuro rehabilitation) as well as the drums player/listener logic. Very interesting debate! ❤❤❤
@sibylline7220 ooh have fun going down the engineering rabbit hole! Very fun field aspect for music nerds as it mixes a variety of aspects of science into how things are done
I absolutely love Chans vocals in this... his oooh like a tunnel lines especially are just so hauntingly beautiful. Lyricist(s) - 3RACHA Composer(s) - Bang Chan, KAIROS, samUIL Arranger(s) - KAIROS, samUIL, K.O Definitely a very unique piece in their discography. It's in my top 10 for them, if not top 5. Chronosaurus means time monster. It's basically about time catching up with you and leaving you behind. The clocks on the wall all have meanings... one is set 325 for example, their debut date. Also I love Lee Know singing in his lower register on this.
I legit would've kept watching if you reacted again to catch the lyrics. I don't think you should have to apologize for discussing your thoughts. Your understanding and love of music production are part of what makes your reaction cool and it's what I'm here for!
Thank you! I appreciate that. I just talk about whatever is on my brain in any given moment when reacting to things lol. Whatever the song/video conjure up is that day's topic lol
Something else you might find interesting about this video - the moving horse images are some of the first motion pictures, filmed using a technique called Chronophotography.
My ADHD brain really enjoys the discursive and meandering nature of your explanations and asides in your videos! I always learn something (usually, a lot of things!).
I appreciate that! And yeah I tend to go "off topic" a lot but I'm always like "b-b-but it's connected and necessary (okay not necessary but fun at least) to give all the additional info" lol
One of the producers of this track is called KAIROS and he actually gave an interview to a RUclips channel a few years ago where he talked about the process of working with 3Racha and also a bit on the backstory of this beat and another track by his team that featured on Clé: Miroh (Entrance). It's on a channel called AZODi, but if you search for KAIROS interview Stray Kids you should find it. It's been too long since I watched it, I don't remember the details. If I'm not mistaken, I think he said that JYPE A&R were specifically looking for beats that were a bit crazy and out there for SKZ, because that's what they do. He also talked about how involved 3Racha were in every step (even as early as 2018/19, since Chronosaurus was on Clé: Miroh that came out in early 2019. Han and Changbin were still teenagers, and Bang Chan was 21 at that time.) I remember that the interviews was really interesting in general. He talked a lot about how the process works for external producers in KPop, for people who want to get into that or are just curious about the behind the scenes.
That's so cool that they've been apart of everything since the beginning and I love that JYP is like "don't bring us anything boring for SKZ, we don't do that here" lol
So, I'll watch a 1-off reaction video here and there, but I'm not a person who follows people specifically for their reaction vids. And the exclusive exception to that is if I'm also *learning* things. You are now the second person ive followed and want to watch because of this. The way you talk about music composition/production as you react is so good and I really dig your energy. Thank you for sharing your craft. I love hearing you talk about the details. 🙂
Thank you I appreciate that! Some songs are easier to break down in understandable ways than others but I try my best to relay information in a digestible way!
@AmariLeone You do it well! Even when you go on tangents, I can follow your process. And I don't notice that the pauses for thoughts are "long" because you have commentary that's interesting. I legit want to hear what you have to say.
I am enjoying so much how you break down the songs, its honestly super interesting. So many reactions just give vague technical details and thats ok too but I am a massive nerd and I am actually living for the proper technical description. Really loving your channel!
I think the reason that many channels only give vague details is 1) to keep the videos shorter (typically people are less willing to click on a video that's longer) 2) It's pretty hard to explain certain musical concepts without getting so deep into music theory that you end up talking over everyone's heads in a way that becomes pointless for most. I try really hard to explain concepts in a way that is (hopefully) accessible for everyone regardless of their prior musical knowledge
So glad you got to this - I think we recommended it initially because at the time you were asking about purely conceptual songs by SKZ. CHRONOSAURUS is one of my absolutely favourite SKZ songs ever! Each of their vocals is so, so good. They were fantastic then, but I would love to hear them sing it now that their voices have matured - imagine this in the style of their THE FIRST TAKE performances, standing still and just singing! Such an underrated and beautiful song! Loved your tangent on drums! And I would have happily sat through you watching the whole song over again to grapple with the lyrics. Hope you’ll bear with me as I go off on info about this song! It started out as TIME BEAST but Changbin wanted the beast to have a name and so it became CHRONOSAURUS, a clever wordplay on chronos (the personification of time), Kronos (the Titan) and the Kronosaurus (a pliosaur named after Kronos). This is STRAY KIDS/3RACHA we’re talking about: of course the wordplay is genius! Bang Chan is dinosaur obsessed (he's got on a roll about them when he did Chan's Room on Sundays) and fossils of the Kronosaurus have been dug up in New South Wales, the Australian state he is from and where I live. Also, the Horse in Motion series is the first example of “chronophotography,” a sequential series of photographs by Eadweard Muybridge to depict movement and the passing of time, taken in the 1870s. More genius. And the four clocks on the wall? The order and times are all significant - they are actually dates. Far left 1219 refers to December 19th 2017, the final episode of the STRAY KIDS' survival show when all 9 members of the group were confirmed by JYP. Second from the left 108 was the January 8th 2018 release date of their pre-debut EP MIXTAPE. Second from right 325 was their March 25th 2018 STRAY KIDS' unveil debut showcase (I AM NOT with DISTRICT 9 was released the next day); and on the right 801 is the August 1st 2018 announcement of STAY as the official fanbase. CHRONOSAURUS was released in April 2019 by which time STRAY KIDS must have felt that life was a whirlwind - they'd released a stack of music and were preparing for their first world tour so their rehearsal hours must have been insane with not enough time to do everything properly that they wanted, hence the lyrics of the song.
Yo that's such an interesting thing about the drums and panning certain sounds to a certain side, I didn't know that, thanks for the info, I really found it interesting!!
Thank you! I find it interesting too and when I learned that in college I was like 🤯🤯🤯🤯 and went back and listened to a ton of songs looking for just that lol
The title of the song they spoke about on an album intro video I believe. Chronos is the god of time. Kronosaurus is a dinosaur that roamed Australia. They combined the two into Chronosaurus and talked about how the song is about the fear of time. I enjoyed all the other insights you spoke about within the music and Antman ;D So much fun.
Before Woojin (the 9th) left Seungmin actually did sing lower harmonies and did more melodic rap sections. You should(could) react to Side Effects [aggressively] 🫢😆
Love this song! It grows on me more and more everytime I hear it, it's almost addictive to me! I get your point with skz choreo cause I love it too...but no dancing connects this vid because of the restraints and the felling of getting no where against time, they're also formed like on the bus we see so many times...I swear this fits into hints of District 9, Double Knot, Side Effects and voices but that's just me lol. It is broken down as Time Dinosaur as the boys (Changbin and Chan) have spoken about.
Recently got into your reviews for SKZ. I love your dissection of the music, getting your insight and explanation of the different aspects/elements that are used to create the song. You should definitely check out I Got It, by Han. He goes HARD on that track.
Thank you for an tutorial lesson. I do enjoy them very much. I was a little shocked when I first heard this song. It’s was different and it took me a couple of listen. It then grow on me over TIME haha 😂, now absolutely love this song. ❤ I can’t help but belting it out while in the car 🚘 haha 😊
Love the way you explain things and go on tangents... Makes your reactions informative and interesting. Unlike many others these days. Also, very happy to sit through a second listen if you pause and rewind or start over. And welcome hearing all your insights and perspective.
Oh PS...if u haven't checked it for percussion, vocals and also rap and also choreo from their older stuff you must check out Mirror performance vid!!! I might be wrong on the percussion actually being that but it certainly sounds at points like almost only percussion with singing/rap
Chronosaurus = Time beast, in a nutshell, but there is a deeper meaning thy explained in the video I linked below. I really enjoy some of the genius in their older songs. This song is one of those under-rated. The feeling about time is so relatable and thus makes this song timeless. I love the contrast of the boys feeling the urgency to run but staying seated as they sing together as a group. I have watched this many times but only more recently is the felt antsy for them to be running as they sang. I.e. "Time anxiety".
