A few of you have asked how I painted my Word Bearers.... Paint the whole model in Wazdaka Red, heavily dry brush with Evil Suns Scarlet. Paint the metal in chainmail/ironbreaker, ink the whole model in Nuln Oil, then do slight highlights with ironbreaker on the shoulder pads. The Robes are Mechanicus Battlegrey, Agrax Earthshade, Highlight in Mech BG. The demonflesh is Talern Flesh, inked in Baal Red, then high lighted in Talern Flesh. Some of these are older paints, but there are modern equivalents.
Totally agree, Paul was hilarious, his army was beautiful and just generally an awesome dude! I am very new to your channel, but i love it! When i come back to the UK i would LOVE to come and play with you with my Wolves
It was a sight to behold! One could write some seriously good narrative for that army. Converting or slaughtering their way across the warp as your dark apostles spread the glorious and malign word of the chaos pantheon!
I havn't even gotten to deployment yet and all I can say is wow. That Word Bearers army is absolutely stunning. You should be very proud of your work Paul.
Jake0997 I’d hope that when I learn, I find players as forgiving. I can’t think of a better way to play this than learning in a manner where mistakes are talked about rather than brutally punished because you didn’t know. Although I would expect continual mistakes to eventually be punished.
Sir, this really is the prettiest table I’ve seen. Amazing terrain. Inspiring! Terrific painted armies. I don’t even care about the rules issues. Happy to watch these BatReps just for the entertainment. Thanks you.
have you thought up of a name for your word bearers chapter/host similar to the serrated suns or even a number like marduk's 34th host? you got any story related to your host? i don't mean to fanboy but word bearers are my legion and seeing them represented so beautifully, i need details
Winters, that was EPIC. My favourite report yet. Some great imagery, the demons bursting through the woods and the grand master fight (s). Etc etc Great vibe with Paul. Awesome that he's so into the background. And his awesome army... Great to see a variety of units, Fluffy lists, use of new strategies. The praise could go on. Glad you didnt make the GM your warlord - too much of a target and thanks for rerolling that lascannon shot. Couldn't believe it when you rolled another 1. Damn you dice gods! Thanks for sharing. THIRTEEN!
"let's see if this terminator squad can slaughter this one attack bike" (film cut) "So the terminators slaughtered that attack bike" lol i'd have bet on it
I've followed your channel for a while, that was arguably your best batrep Winters! Love the big battles - biggest is best! Would echo other peoples thoughts on on Paul as well, would be good to see him back. Both of you played excellently, really good tactics employed by both sides. Top stuff.
Personally, i never understood that warcry. In what sense is Goldilocks a "false" emperor? He may be a douchebag, a liar or a tyrant but he's neither a usurper nor a changeling.
@@Self-replicating_whatnot may be slightly late, however I believe it to be related to the worship of the chaos gods. the notion of the emperor being as powerful / on par with them is why he is false. Also maybe because its more like what csm perceive as a false belief in general of him being powerful and worshippable
@@Firefrab This would make sense for a renegade chapter marines from 40k, as by then Emperor's divinity was widely established. But traitor legionaries way back during Horus Heresy use the same warcry, dafuq?
Liking this channel very much. Have a vast but slightly old collection of third edition (5k points or so) put them away when my children were born. These videos are hugely inspiring to get back into the hobbie so thank you!
Such a gentlemanly game between two good blokes. Was great to watch and would love to see more. Learned a lot about imperium forces and how to better use my Chaos side from watching this, so thank you both.
Plenty of folks have already said it, but Paul was an ace guest. A beautiful army and his passion for the fluff of his Word Bearers is inspiring. A great guy, you have to have him back on. Great game to watch, thanks.
Another great report. I really enjoy this bigger setups, but at same time i miss the days of your fantastic thrilling max 50 minutes narrative reports, we were able to watch during the lunch break.
Such an epic clash of savagery! I hope you will fight battles such as these in the future to come Winters! Love the narrative and the joy in which you have while playing them! Great game! :D
What a game!!!! Probably one of the closest batrep's I've seen lately! Paul is one Hell of a gamer, can't wait to see round 2!!! Great batrep Winters as always!!!
Long time Winters Seo subscriber and Deployment zone patron. Honestly the fights you have a with Say Hi Paul are my favourites. You lads always seem to be have such a good time. Thanks again for the joy you spread.
Do you know Paul has his own channel, say hi paul. I highly recommen it, he does hobby vlogs and battle reps with his own narrative rules and he very recently done an apocalypse size game.
this is the third battle report i watch on this channel, and this is the thid time you play against Paul, i am so glad i was wishing it was him again ! watching you guys play against each other is really entertaining ! and i really love the credit you give to the narrative, always a pleasure to watch you guys ! keep up the good games :D
God bless Paul for reminding Winters about like 4 separate gaffs on those attacks back on the combat on the left side of the map when he wiped all three charging models. What a legend.
Hello winters!! Wonderful battle report as always!!! I just saw you say something at 1:35:30 ish that I wanted to make note of, it was when you were talking about the flyer, the group in close combat and demon prince. How the rules are worded, I believe that you still cannot attack the demon prince even with the group in combat that cannot be targeted with shooting. Since the demon prince still is not the closest enemy model. This could have been errataed, but I just wanted to make sure you were thinking this process correctly!! Keep up the amazing battle reports! Looking forward to the next one! :)
Absolutely fantastic game gents! Both armies look amazing! I've not seen a Word Bearers army before, this one is simply outstanding, I love the combination of demons, demon engines and chaos marines. Well done!
That was an absolutely awesome battle! The fight was close to the end, both armies looked great and the chemistry beetween you and Paul was just hilarious. I'm hoping for a rematch soon, so we can see more of these gorgeous Word Bearers.
Nice one again! That was epic and unfortunately Chaos lost again. But they will walk through the Warp again. Great to see Paul on the channel and his awesome army.
This was a great batrep, Paul is a great opponent, great chat between rolls, good fight, too. It even became kind of close. Can we get a rematch, soon?
Truly epic battle - thanks for posting. 1:27:19 - mark of a gentleman gamer: when you're about to smash the opponent so hard, you forget all the hits you make.
I absolutely love the Word Bearers army! I'm a big fan of them myself. I also think it's awesome that you play 'fluffy' (e.g. not using warptime on Bloodletters), props to you sir!
I have a real problem with the "whole army shoots first" way that 40k plays. It seems ridiculous in 8th. Whoever takes first turn tends to obliterate 25% of the opposing army and it's a losing battle from there.
Really, that would be a greatly reduced issue if tables were generally larger. First turn really shouldn't see any engagement other than long range stuff like artillery. You'd see maneuver becoming the most important way to mitigate what you're talking about.
@@elcidbob The rules are pretty damn stupid tho. Current turn system is just bad, because there is always someone unloading everything first (larger table would only make it happen on turn 2 instead of turn 1). I would much prefer if both players were alternating during moving/shooting. You could even have initiative or similar stat that would allow faster units to go first in a turn.
It would be fixed if you both took your shooting phase and then removed casualties. It also makes more sense, since one side wouldn't be waiting to receive the entire enemy army's fire before firing back in a real battle. You could even have rules whereby certain weapons like snipers can fire first and take enemies out before they have the opportunity to fire back.

Like, DS Terminators. Call em Slaanesh and get access to the 'fire twice' stratagem, which is a (rather boring) game changer! Actually won last game in the first turn in part thanks to that particular combo. DS Slaanesh termies with lots of plasma with a Termi Lord and Sorc, cast Warptime on the termies to get them close. Shoot all the special weapons twice by use of the stratagem, reroll 1s on the plasmas due to Lord, could even burn another CP on Veterans of the Long war and get to add 1 to all to-wound rolls. Then assault in and finish off whatever is alive. I think GW should have made the unmarked option a bit more competitive in comparison with the marks. The combination of the WB having the weakest legion trait, with Unmarked being the weakest dedication means your army just feel gimped unless you break with the theme.
