@AlfieCantleyI think the Octolings in the single player campaign had eyes if you managed to use hacks to remove the goggles, but the game would just load the Inkling eyes as a placeholder. There were ways to do that in multiplayer iirc (which would cause the game to crash on loading the plaza, man I remember the panic around that)

I think Nintendo Isn't adding the Octolings, but I recommend them to do this. Suggestion: For Nintendo Splatoon~ In Options you can change how your inkling looks, why not add a button that says "Octoling" and will take you to the options for the Octolings male and female. You can select one of them like a inkling and you get to play around with It. But you need to finish the Octoling Valley then you get the option to choose. I hope this works out, also when Its for the female, do the same for the octoling, and If It was a male maybe do simular to the actual boy inkling but replace It with a octoling style. Thumbs up If you think this is a good Idea for Nintendo Splatoon !!

***** They're probably gonna introduce a new mode that includes the Octolings as AI bots. The reason why I'm saying this is because TF2's robot versions of the all the characters (from the Mann Vs. Machine mode) are ONLY AI bots, but you can PLAY as them perfectly if you hack and swap the characters models (similar to how NWPlayer123 did it)
They make the hats fit the model. For example, because of how the Inkling Boy's hair works the squid girl hat was made much bigger to accommodate his tentacles, while the Female variant stayed true to the source material. The same can be done for the Octoling, and that could be one of the reasons it could be taking so long for an official playable Octoling.

If it's found in this games current files, chances are a playable octoling(?) will not be a DLC, but an update for the game. And if you're wondering why they haven't officially released said update, look at how most headgear clips through the Octoling tentacles. That's probably why, same with the eye glitches. Though even if this Octoling IS released as an update for the current game I do wonder whether or not it would be free. Cool stuff though!
for people still watching this in 2020 and want to know how to do this, this original server-side exploit has been patched. you can still hack the save file, load the game and you will appear as an octoling, but once you enter a match it will turn you automatically into an inkling girl. you can get client-side exploits where only you can see yourself as an octoling. if you really want to be an asshole and softlock someone, enable tcpgecko on your Wii u or dump your save file, then download splathex here: leanny.github.io/SplatHeX.zip load your save, go-to the player editor then change your character to octoling. save the file, reload it on to your Wii u if necessary, and that's it. i don't see why you would want to do this, because it doesn't work in-game. for a client-side exploit download splataio and tcpgecko on your Wii u. then run octohax. hopefully, this can clear up any misconception people are having.

I keep seeing comments of people asking "where can I download this mod", but it isn't something to be downloaded. It's a modification of the character model variable in the player ID. A 0 is an Inking boy, a 1 is an Inkling girl, and a 2 is an Octoling girl.
ThatMCKid's Minecraft Realm It does :< Seems they never expected to have to handle exceptions so they hardcoded 0, 1, and 2, and anything else will instantly crash.
cuberandgamer NWPlayer has been the only recorded person to do it so far, and he goes into his save file and changes the model number to 2 instead of 0 or 1. 0 = Female Inkling, 1= Male Inkling, 2=Female Octoling. Before you do anything, if your save file is on a flash drive don't put it in your computer and format it. It will get rid of everything on that flash drive. I'd recommend using a 4GB to 8GB SD card to change the model in your save file.
Hey, thanks for fucking up our save files! When someone plays together with an Octoling online, and then goes back to the Plaza, the game will try to put the Octoling on the plaza, corrupting their save file in the progress.
Put your wii u Splatoon save on an sd card or a flash and run it through your computer. Run some program and replace the already loaded data. Boom, done! But do NOT do this on public/nintendo servers. A: They will ban your wii u ip for hacking the game B: You'd be being a dick because you'd be softlocking everyone's plaza.

ThatMCKid's Minecraft Realm how do you even change the character model? what are people doing to get the octoling in splatoon?
cuberandgamer NWPlayer has been the only recorded person to do it so far, and he goes into his save file and changes the model number to 2 instead of 0 or 1. 0 = Female Inkling, 1= Male Inkling, 2=Female Octoling.
Before you do anything, if your save file is on a flash drive don't put it in your computer and format it. It will get rid of everything on that flash drive. I'd recommend using a 4GB to 8GB SD card to change the model in your save file.

Hey, thanks for fucking up our save files! When someone plays together with an Octoling online, and then goes back to the Plaza, the game will try to put the Octoling on the plaza, corrupting their save file in the progress.
I wish they added the rival octo hairstyle for the playable octolings in splat 2

How did you find the save files?
Put your wii u Splatoon save on an sd card or a flash and run it through your computer. Run some program and replace the already loaded data. Boom, done! But do NOT do this on public/nintendo servers.
A: They will ban your wii u ip for hacking the game
B: You'd be being a dick because you'd be softlocking everyone's plaza.

thanks. i really hope that's what is planned. i mean the search and destroy AI is already there, nintendo just needs to tweek it for different weapons and AI to cover ground/take tower/rainmaker/splat zone.
