He was stunning as a handsome man, had a distinctive walk, mesmerizing eyes.
He said he tried out different walks and decided that he’d walk “like a big cat” or words to that effect.
Powerfully beautiful man, I've adored him from a child.
Yul was the best looking ball headed man, I have ever seen.
He never did it for me looks wise hair or No hair , but he was an outstanding actor I always found it interesting that Brynner and Steve McQueen loathed each other.
I adored him as a child. I loved him even more as an adult.
Such presence on screen and stage. Gorgeous specimen of a man. ❤❤❤
Yul Brenner --magnificent actor! I adored his work, especially in the 10 Commandments!❤
One of the all-time great actors of stage & screen! RIP Yul Brenner! You are missed!
In the ‘King and I” Yul Brynner was beyond MAGNIFICENT‼️ 👏👏👏
After seeing that movie in the 1950's I sent him a letter asking for a photograph. He sent me one signed by himself.
To me, he will always be Rameses II and the Gunslinger from Westworld.
So let it be written, so let it be done!
Chris in _The Magnificent Seven_
Apart from his obvious good looks, it was his voice which always captivated me. It was deep, powerful and coated with honey. Just wonderful. ❤
Great actor with unique looks.
In The Ten Commandments, Yul was the Pharoah and he truly looked the part. He was a great Siamese King too. He said he was sorry he smoked because he had cancer, probably because of it.
My sister died of lung cancer from cigarettes at 58
He was very attractive man and I am 63 yrs old right now!! He had very mesmerizing eyes!
His burial site is so humble. He is buried in a small orthodox cemetery for monks and nuns near the town of Richelieu in France.
I saw "The King and I" as a young tween (late 70s or early 80s) and fell madly in love with Yul Brynner. When he died, I cried and mourned for him for nearly a year. It sounds a bit silly now as a 57-year-old adult, but he was my first love. He was so handsome and such a brilliant actor.
Me too❤
OK - Hope you could move on
He's the best looking bald man on the planet.
❤
When my husband complains about being bald, I say, if it was good enough for Yul Brynner 😊
Yul Brynor was the bomb! A great interesting actor!
I was so fortunate to see him in SF in 1981 during his last tour as the King. I was 18. It was Mesmerizing.
I saw him in this same tour in Boston! I was 21 and he was one of my all time favorite actors! Your summation was perfect, MESMERIZING!
I saw him at the Pantages in Hollywood. I was 18.
I turned 19 that April.
I did, too, but in London ... who played the English Governess?
A Very Handsome And Unique Actor With Lot Of Passion To His Craft. Most Men In Life Want To Live Life Without Consequence. Wonderful Actor But Leave Personal Life Alone. Strong Will And Pride. Well Done. 🙏💅
“So let it be written, so let it be done.” In ‘The Ten Commandments’ the thing I remember first, followed by his role as King so impressed 5 yr old me that I made a promise to myself. I was going to be an actor. I am.
He had/has the most beautifully shaped bald head of anybody in the world.... perfect. Wonderful actor.
I think if that the worst thing anyone say about him is that he was a tough demanding perfectionist that had a fabulously successful career and his most glaring flaws was smoked too much and had two ingrates as children ,it may not have been such a bad life afterall.
Yul Brynner was PERFECTLY cast in every role he portrayed throughout his acting career 💥💥💯, what an AMAZING ACTOR during his tenure in acting!!!!
Wonderful actor, enjoyed all his movies especially The King &I , Anastasia, The Magnificent Seven
:)
I loved Yul from the first time I saw him perform. Huge talent.
I remember his PSA regarding his cancer. Like everything else he did, it was a powerful statement.
I also remember that PSA. So powerful. It was not played nearly enough.
HE WAS EXTREMELY ARTICULATE.
He was articulate in several languages on top of his other talents. I love the accent(s) that peppered his roles!
My feeling is that he was a very sensual man. Very talented. I enjoyed all of his pictures very much.
He was like no other. His looks, voice and unique walk (stride really) made him a fascinating actor to watch.
A manly man indeed
And bisexual to boot....
Leave aside the shaved head, there is something of Rudolph Nureyev in his facial structure. Nureyev also has Tartar ancestry.
In the mid 1970’s i was in Austria and saw a movie where Brynner’s voice was dubbed into German. I was stunned as his voice is like no others. Loved his acting and altho described here as a temperamental man, we all have demons and strength. Such is human nature.
When I was a child, I loved yul Brenner I didn't/ ever smoked..due to the fact he said
.don't smoke
I saw him in the stage production of “The King and I” and he was electrifying! He commanded the stage at all times….even when his back was turned to the audience!
He was a super man and a super actor. I love your movies!
It's amazing! He didn't become a handsome stand-out until he shaved his head totally bald. While he was handsome and exotic looking with hair, losing that hairline put him on another level.
❤ Yul was such a great actor and humanitarian even though he was tough I think he had a soft side to him. He worked so well with Debra Kerr he could make her blush by just him looking at her, made me wonder if they had a secret together.
He was just so slick. Like Mr.Clean. He exuded finess. He sparkled.
We saw it live at the Kennedy center we cried it was so good. But after the encodes yul came out and pled with the audience to not smoke as he had been diagnosed with terminal Ling cancer...such a gift to humanity!
One of the best actors out of Hollywood of all time. And a very good photographer. A Leica was his camera of choice. Love his work.
Oh please. So he made demands. A lot of stars did that and still do the today. There are tons of celebs that are difficult to work with, have special and often weird demands. This isn't anything new. Too bad his children felt the need to try and sully his name for money (we all know they got paid to go on camera and talk about their famous father). Brynner died far too soon. I remember his PSA's about smoking and seeing him on talk showing taking about his cancer and smoking - urging people to quit. And why are you showing a photo of Mr. T and Mohammad Ali?
I dont believe a word Rock(not Rocky) says. He didnt like his father at all,so why would he tell the truth. I read his book and didnt care for a lot of it.
I ALWAYS LOVED HIM,HE WAS A GREAT ACTOR !!!
So being pharaoh in Ten Commandments wasn’t a major role???? Brynner was outstanding as pharaoh.
Don’t remember the name of the movie that he starred in in the 60’s but I will Never Forget his portrayal of the Mayan King who the Aztecs wanted to sacrifice.
His walk through the village was the most noble majestic magnificent beautiful godlike image of a human being that I still today have ever seen. I was a teenager then… 70 tomorrow! ❤
He had to be tough and demanding of his art especially coming from Russia. He reminds of Rudolph Nureyev a famous Russian ballet dancer who had to defect to live his dream.
I do not believe any that his son says! So I'll remember him my way. He was a great actor!!
No one could ever play Ramses as good as him.
He will always be the KING
What a beautiful man ❤❤
Wait a minute. Why is there a picture of Mr. T as an example of special effects in "The Magnificent Seven?"😆
He was KING
ALL I HAVE TO SAY IS HE MOST DEFINITELY WAS A EXCELLENT ACTOR TOP NOTCH AND A VERY VERY VERY HANDSOME MAN 😊😊😊
Yul Brynner was a TRUE artist. His features were classic. His body fit as a butchers dog. Voice captivating. Don't remember about the smoking or his cause of death. Saw nearly every one of his movies. RIP.❤❤❤
I liked him in "Taras Bulba".
My Mother was in love with this man.
Loved him from the age of 5 seeing his picture on an outhouse door at my great aunt's summer home. I'm now age 71.
I worked at the Uris theater in NY back in the day. He literally had his limo come up from below the stage. That's how he showed up for work. He was a DIVA.
Yes, a very handsome man
I loved him so much I saw him in the king and I and was lucky enough to get some of the best seats in the house because the people did not show up for the seats. I always thought that was feet because I was so close only 3 feet away from the stage
That is an enviable memory! Lucky, lucky you!
Loved him even as a young girl. Thought he was so sexy. I got to see him in 81 in Ĥollywood, The King and I. He is forever the king.
You mean Brynner was once a young girl?! 😆(It's a pedant's joke, I admit!)
I think his behaviour would have been tolerated in those days, but in today's standards it would have been called a bully with little personal insight of his own negative traits or social skills.
He, as a mega-star, obviously knew how and did play his hand to the max
He was a legend.
He spoke French I love his accent …
He also spoke Russian, together with English.
HIS SON WAS A BODY GUARD TO
MOHAMID ALLI ????
I was a child on stage with him as a kings child he was so kind to us all
I very much admired Yul Brynner's Work. Pretty much every movie he has been in, has been Worth Watching! 😀
Yul was married 4 times. His wife was an actress named Virginal Gilmore. She was born Sherman Virginia Poole (July 26, 1919 - March 28, 1986). Her father was an 8th cousin to my mother via a family named PACKARD that arrived from England to Massachusetts before 1646. Yul and Virginia had one child, a son named "Yul", who was nicknamed "Rocky" at Age 6. Therefore, Rocky Brynner (1946 - 2023) was my 9th cousin 1x removed.
He had a haunting voice. There's a short scene in Anastasia where he is playing guitar and singing gypsy songs in a club in Paris. Also, I think before he started acting he did some modeling work.
1:59 yule Brenner was a gypsy his mom was I love him ❤🎉
No one's perfect!
He was an Iconic actor with distinguished handsome looks. If there were any difficulties from his life it served only to perfect who he was.
One of the best 🙏
In the 70s when i was a child, i adored this man! 😍 i watched anything he was in. He was mesmerising.
The only man who had my heart from the first look. I miss him greatly.
Brilliant people quite often think on a different level. And it doesn't translate easily for the rest of us.
A MASTER REQUIRES PRECISION AND PERFECTION. HE WAS GOOD AT HIS JOB, THUS REQUIRED THE SAME FROM EVERYONE ASSOCIATED WITH HIM.
Do you people go around dragging up dirt on dead people why don't you try getting a life
He was the original beef cake 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Super charismatic, and incredibly handsome in a unique way. I still love watching his movies. And that voice!! It doesn't surprise me that he was difficult. But he left some fine, fine work we can still enjoy.
I read that Yul had a sister.
love Yul Brynnt❤
LOVE!
I remember Yul Brynner for his intense role of The Gunslinger in 1973 Westworld.
It's hard for the child of a famous person...however shut-up
The King and I is just a feast for the senses.
.. he had an awesome strong mother !
Let the evidence speak for itself…
Cool Video 😎👍
As a kid I couldn't tell Yul Brenner and Gordon Liu apart 😂
I liked the cowboy shows and movies. What was that movie called "Future World?"
I cannot see what is so bad about his behaviour. The build up before or at the beginning made him sound really evil, whereas he wasn't, was he? It's like an over dramatisation. Silly really.
The King
He was so handsome and talented.
SO HE WAS A DIVA AT TIMES. SO WHAT ?!
Love him. He will forever be the King.
Saw him on broadway in king and l exellent
He also was a polyglot.
Mesmerising
A very talented actor.
What people dont understand about detailed demands in contracts is that they are put in there so that if the most peculiar things aren't supplied, the star or his agent can see if the people have read the contract or not.
I don't want to hear what son has to say about his dead father, it probably won't be nice.
Wonderful actor & very handsome. Don’t make these kind of men anymore.❤
You skipped so many parts of his early young life. As a young man in Paris, he joined the circus there and worked as an acrobat in addition to his gypsy singing. After he migrated to New York in 1941 (as you say), he was working as a director for the new medium of television when (1) he first did LUTE SOng with Mary Martin; and then in 1951, he auditioned for the Siamese king in Rodgers and Hammerstein's new musical that year, THE KING AND I. You just glossed over these facts.
