I love the irony here Bruce Wayne essentially only has enough, he has a mother, he is generally upper middle class, he has training, he has trauma and vengeance. Yet he chooses to do what is right Joker, has everything yet he chooses to do what's wrong.
To me, this version is not just more relatable and realistic but also badass. Same reason why I love Doctor Doom. A guy who was beaten by the world itself built himself from the zero and achieved greatness. Neither original Batman or Iron Man can give this feeling.
Also relates to the lion analogy. Joker was coddled and didn't really need to work for much because of his predestined position in life. Bruce had to work for everything he has.
Judging from the dialogue it looks like the artist took creative liberty, and it's genius. It contradicts the words, but better displays the spirit of what they were all going for. Nick Dragotta and Frank Martin are crushing it with their quiet revisions

Eh...I mean it does certainly seem that politics are seeping into every element of entertainment media at an unprecedented rate (For my lifetime anyway). With that said, I agree with you about this channel being purely a fan of comics and nothing else, which is refreshing.
knowing that the joker is basically Bruce Wayne is equally funny, yet a bit terrifying i do wonder what kind of joker hes gonna be in this universe im thinking like simply an evil jake nappir from the white knight comics
I initially hated this Batman design, but this comic really sells it. Very excited for this new take on the characters, I hope they get everyone else right as well, very hopeful for Superman and the cool Wonder Woman.
The chest axe thing is stupid but what makes it worse is you literally have the easy layup with a good bat symbol to make an axe and choose that. The general story isn't bad but the axe thing to me is off-putting and unnecessary. Also I don't get why ppl are making a big deal of this, why not just use a dark multiverse story or any of the tons of other places? I find it hard to care for a multiverse that is essentially already doomed as it's created by Darkseid.
@nobodyknowsforsure Oh definitely, there are certainly still issues with the design. The "bat" symbol if you can even call it that is terrible, but I do very much like the cape and the comic sells how this huge hulking mass can still be agile and nimble. I don't think that the universe is doomed by being created by Darkseid, I think what will happen is that Darkseid will realize hope wil prevail even in the universe where he tried to stomp it out.
I still don't like the design. It's too weird. I hate the symbol, and I doubt he uses that axe but a few times. It will absolutely be forgotten about. Also, Batman taking steroids? And before you say he isn't, that size is not possible natural, trust me. So we have a doping Batman, that's weird. I also don't like the wings or the spikes on his shoulders. Yeah I basically just don't like it at all, but the story seems cool.
I was kind of expecting at least one of Bruce's parents to be alive, but that Joker twist hit me like a ton of bricks. I agree, I didn't think I wanted them to do Joker this early, but that was with the understanding they were going to be doing a fairly standard version of him. Turning him into an evil Bruce Wayne is actually genius.
Now this is what I call a good Elseworld story premise! I do like how they make it believable that Batman could do what he does while being blue collar, that was something people had trouble buying. Also its interesting seeing that Bruce is friends with most of his rogues and clearly his new "job" is causing rifts in their friendships. I'm curious how things will play out and if they'll become villains or fight besides him. And this might be the first Batman story I've heard of where one of Bruce's parents are alive. There were only two things I didn't like. First obviously is the Joker, not this version of him I just didn't want him here so soon. Second while I liked how they described how Bruces ordinary jobs are helping the city in ways most people don't notice I still don't like this narrative that Batman didn't do anything for Gotham as Bruce Wayne. He did plenty for the city with his money. But still this comic wasn't that offensive to it, I'm sure it will with this new Joker but I got to admit the Black Mask and "The Party Animals" are terrifying and interesting. Overall I liked way more than I had issues with and looking forward to the next issue. Hopefully the rest of Absolute is this good
Notice that the villains that are friends with Bruce, actually have been redeemed! and have been good for a moment in the comics. I think something that’ll be dope for this series is that villains that have redeeming qualities or isn’t totally evil will be Bruce’s allies in the Absolute Universe and I’m here for it.
13:48 Something tells me that, with all those brains at his disposal, Batman will not remain dead broke before too long. Which is a good thing too. Because against Darkseid, he's going to need all the help one can get...
A Bruce who actually grew up within Gotham and was friend with what otherwise would be his Rogues Gallery (save for that guy) without massive wealth and Alfred remaining in MI6 being his foil is a wild alternative. Im actually excited.

Seems interesting enough. I wish this was a new character for DC instead of another version of Batman. If the story and action is good I'll check it out. This will due until Jim Lee and Jeph Lobe returns for another run on Batman.
This new Absolute storyline exactly what is needed today. In this world, our Heroes are young, angry, and poor. Yet, they are also virtuous and kind, despite being rough around the edges. This is what modern DC needed to resonate with our culture once again.

Man the artist actually knows guns. They're doing a better job than the writers and it's easy to tell. Flechets in shotshells generally suck and typically don't penetrate bone. A reduced charge would also still function in a pump action shotgun, where a semi-auto would likely malfunction from the lack of kinetic energy to work the action. So a bunch of batarang shaped flachetes stacked with edges facing down the shell/barrel makes a lot of sense. However if they were stacked with edges facing out towards the sides and had a slight divet punched all facing the same direction, then they could act like cut slugs. Which is why I say the artist is better than the writer. You can't modify how a firearm works to make it nonlethal, they all boil down to mousetraps and a tube. BUT, you can always mess with the ammo and action to run specific types. Especially on shotguns. I still want to see batman deal with accidentally killing someone. All the stuff he does still has a chance to kill one guy who's just a little weaker or more unlucky than the rest, especially with complications.

No that's batman's hand on the trigger and Alfred gets cut off as it happens. Plus it would have likely killed the masked people if it was from Alfred.
This one is definitely a miss. The Superman one is ok, kinda. The weakness shown is pretty lame though so that needs to be addressed quickly. The Wonder Woman one needs more info. If she's fighting the New Gods that'd be cool. Batman is ok'ish. The axe coulda been more bat shaped without being a full bat. A lot of his bladed weapons are ridiculous even for a billionaire genius to make so its even more absurd here. Shoulda been magic made to have it make more aense, ironicly. He is also clearly a steroid user. So... that's fucked up. The joker is also super lame. Theres plenty of rich characters that could be the billionaire he fights. People with money, who can pull off the rich person persona. Joker is too much of a brand, just ruins the character. This looks too much like some fanfic oc shit. And thats yet another red head comic character killed off with Barbara. I guess WB/DC is now getting in on the action.
Agreed I mean Black Mask and this freaky "Party Animals" seem like interesting villains, did we really need a Joker name drop this early? Hopefully Joker won't be center stage for awhile.
I mean it's all this sounds and looks interesting but I'm still on the fence about picking this one up and right now I just that man chopping the guy's hand off with almost a bridge too far for me but I mean I get this is an alternate universe and it's completely different thing from the main one and I'm still on the fence about it I feel like I need a little bit more convincing I mean how would I have never read Scott Snyder's New 52 Batman because I just didn't like the new 52 so this will all be some extent for me to try to check out just kind of based on reputation but at the moment I'm still not like you know sold on this yet

@@jpars3522 Hello there 👋🏾
Bro again with the joker at the end? Like why not another villain? I definetly going to skip every panel where the joker comes out is my opinion.
You’ll be missing important context and lore if you do that
Agreed I mean Black Mask and this freaky "Party Animals" seem like interesting villains, did we really need a Joker name drop this early? Hopefully Joker won't be center stage for awhile.
Joker is Batman's best foil, what are you even talking about
@@patrickmcguire7896 I mean he probably will be there but he won’t be the center of attention until much later on.
💯💯💯👍👍👍👍
I mean it's all this sounds and looks interesting but I'm still on the fence about picking this one up and right now I just that man chopping the guy's hand off with almost a bridge too far for me but I mean I get this is an alternate universe and it's completely different thing from the main one and I'm still on the fence about it I feel like I need a little bit more convincing
I mean how would I have never read Scott Snyder's New 52 Batman because I just didn't like the new 52 so this will all be some extent for me to try to check out just kind of based on reputation but at the moment I'm still not like you know sold on this yet
Only two things I liked here were Black Mask and Alfred. The rest of the characters/plot were meh, especially Joker
