Here's the letter I got from Heckel back in the 90s regarding the first Contra I ever played on (serial number 175): westerling.com/?p=1125
We finally have our first chance to dig deep into the details about a Heckel contrabassoon thanks to Forrests Music in Berkeley, Ca, USA. How does it compare to other manufacturers like Amati, Fox, and Mollenhauer? So many interesting things about this instrument! Too many to cram into a single video. We'll get a good chance to hear a "Low A" in a future video.
