  • The Swedish government has announced new plans for tougher law enforcement to try to break the cycle of gang violence that's risen to levels never before imagined. The government will also set up youth councils around the country. Teri Schultz visited the southern city of Helsingborg where local activists already have the model but need more money.

You do not see the big picture and the real cause of the problem. USA is a nation of immigrants and that what makes it the greatest country in the world. Anyway, Drug lords began to do international business around the world. In America, Canada, Germany, Netherlands... etc. So this is not a phenomenon unique to Sweden. They generally target vulnerable, poor, desperate and uneducated youth everywhere. This problem is not something that Sweden can handle alone because the mafias work internationally. Unfortunately drugs are a worldwide problem. Drug lords even finance "politicians" to keep them quiet about this issue in all over the world.

@owindustry In the US, most immigrants integrate without difficulty. You can Google what city and area to live in for every culture. If they speak English, they are readily accepted in the workplace. If they don't speak English it leads to social isolation in a some cases.

So in your estimation it is the host country's responsibility to actively integrate those who come there, mostly uninvited, and if they don't do that, then it's on the host country if there's these kinds of problems?
Where's the responsibility of the immigrants to integrate themselves into their new society? I mean if I as a Finn would move to Sweden, or any other country for that matter, I would see it as MY responsibility to learn the language, act according to local customs and try to be a beneficial part of that society.
So why are these particular immigrants, mostly from Middle East and Africa, exempt from these obligations and responsibilities? Why are people expecting and therefore also demanding so little from them?

    • @lokeshdhakal315
      @lokeshdhakal315 9 месяцев назад +12

I personally believe Sweden isn’t diversified on that level. It is just a segregation between native Swedes and “new Swedes” who are mostly from same ethnicity. It would have been multicultural if Sweden was having lots of immigrants/expats from different nationalities such as Japan, Korea, China, India, Brazil, Kenya, Australia etc. Then Sweden would have talented pool from different ethnicities, increasing competition benefitting the society - Australia for example. Sweden is a very generous country but lacks many individuals who could generate more wealth to the society instead received influx of people who are here just to enjoy social benefits.

Uncontrolled immigration in combination with social welfare that gives everything and expects nothing in return. People who come from very different countries, that havo no interest in integration and values very different from Swedish society. The fault also falls on Swedish politics, who failed to adress negative consequences of immigration, and trying to limit them before it was critical. This does not mean that all immigrants are criminal of course, but Sweden accepted so many that they no longer had to integrate but could form their own paralell communities. From there it gets even harder to integrate into the Swedish society. Moreover, the cultural extremes in the world are on one hand the Nordic countries and on the other hand the Middle East / North african countries. This integration is hard to begin with and admitting so many has caused the situation to get out of control.
It will take a long, long time to get this straight. The new government has at least started the task, with the political left screaming and kicking in protest...

Oh, boy! Let's talk about this interesting topic. So, claiming that Swedish politicians are solely to blame for making people become criminals might be a bit of a stretch. While it's true that politicians play a crucial role in shaping policies and legislation that can either promote social equality or exacerbate inequality, criminal behavior stems from various complex factors like socio-economic disparities, lack of education, and personal circumstances. It's unfair to put the blame squarely on politicians' shoulders as they strive to create a fair and just society through their decisions. However, it is important for politicians to continuously evaluate policies, address root causes of crime effectively, and invest in initiatives like education and social programs to ensure that people have better opportunities in life. It's all about finding the right balance between holding individuals accountable for their actions while working towards creating an environment where crime becomes less likely.

As an immigrant myself in Sweden, I believe it's crucial to acknowledge that individuals have choices when it comes to the path they take in life. While family support and responsible parenting play a significant role, it's equally important for immigrants to actively engage in cultural integration. Blaming Swedish society entirely for issues like gang violence oversimplifies the problem.
Immigrants bear a responsibility to adapt and contribute positively to the society they now call home. Crime may seem like an easy path, but it's essential to remember that each person is the architect of their own life.
When discussing crime in Sweden, it's crucial to consider the multifaceted nature of the issue.

Integrating people (immigrants) into Swedish society has been a challenge always, already for example in the 90's. And it was never a success eventually, we just accepted and very slowly dealt with the segregation (became a part of new society). The problem became larger though, obviously, when the immigration increased over the years and in some years to real record level high. If Sweden knew how to handle and integrate immigrants, it might have worked pretty well still, even with people from war zones and often from poorly educated places. But the thing is, Sweden was always bad with integration, even with educated people not from war zones it was not a real success. So yes, obviously the problem just got even more big. And honestly, there is no hope in sight! This will not change into the better, fore sure not.

Well, let's not jump to conclusions here - blaming Swedish politicians as the sole instigators of criminal behavior is a bit far-fetched. While politicians certainly have a role to play in shaping policies that can influence society, it would be unfair to pin the blame solely on them for people becoming criminals. Numerous factors contribute to someone turning towards a life of crime, such as socioeconomic disparities, inadequate educational opportunities, and personal circumstances. It's important for politicians to address these underlying issues through effective policies and initiatives that promote social welfare, provide equal chances for success, and foster a sense of belonging within communities. However, it's crucial not to overlook the shared responsibility that individuals hold in their choices and actions. So let's strive for constructive dialogue rather than pointing fingers at any one group when discussing complex societal challenges like criminality.

I also blame the parents for not giving their kids a value based ethic and politicians who practice cultural relativism.

Sweden will get worse. Once every EU country will feel inflation, lost of jobs to Al, .... the gouvernement will reduce their generous welfare state.
    It’s going to get worse.
In the future, if you need immigrants >>> CHOOSE THEM WISELY from non-violent countries that can mix with western values and ideals. And take mostly EDUCATED workers.
Don’t give citizenship easily, make it hard to obtain so they won’t feel entitled and spoiled. People should have 30,000€, speak fluently, worked and paid taxes for 15 years at least to be eligable for citizenship.
MAKE IT DAMN HARD so people will not abuse it. Something free or easy to get will never be respected.

The lack of workforce is mostly in low skilled job markets. You get those holes in the workforce, because the locals do not want to do jobs like that, instead everyone wants to go to college and work in an office, so countries must import people that do low skilled jobs. I, for one would have no problems with that as even a low skilled worker in Sweden lives much better than an educated person in my country. I would introduce a zero tolerance policy, along with exhaustive background checks. You do crime, your whole family is kicked out, simple as that. The people that have citizenships are a much bigger problem though.

Crime rates are going up and crimes are becoming more violent. Unfortunately, there is a bombing and/ or a shooting every day and it has become the norm. It will take decades to solve this situation and it all comes down to immigration and integration. Sweden wanted to help people in need that was fleeing from wars and catastrophes but did not understand that people moving here did not leave their problems at home.
So now Sweden has families that are running cities with their own laws, families using Sharia laws giving away their daughters to older men in their home countries or abusing women and treating them like women are worth less, people using their connections in their home countries to bring drugs and weapons, using their skills from the wars to build bombs and having mental health problems after the war that affects what line they cross. And so on.. so many different problems at the same time in one big mix.

Parents immigrate to give kids a better life and it ends up like this. Do they think showing up in Europe is enough to make your kid a doctor or engineer? You have to make a strategy, sacrifices and invest in your parenting to make your children successful. There are even Swedes who cannot do it, parenting is hard everywhere.
