Well, the Russians are currently gaining Ukrainian territory, there is no doubt about that, but how much have they actually gained in just over a year? In 2023/24, the front has shifted an average of just 10 km to the west. As a result, 500 to 1,300 Russian soldiers die every day and thousands of tanks, armored personnel carriers, trucks and artillery pieces have been sacrificed. These losses cannot be sustained forever, especially since Russia is very large in terms of area and also wants to be ready to defend the rest of the country. Putin apparently thinks that Russia is still as strong as the former Soviet Union. No, the former Soviet Union had almost 300 million inhabitants, while Russia only has 142 million people. In this respect, the potential for recruitable soldiers and also the industrial capacity have halved since 1990.

"fundamentally" russo resources aren't infinite. It's impossible to build more tanks, ships, airplanes, air defense systems than Ukraine destroys. Before 2022, russia has less than 100 s-400 systems to cover the biggest border in the world. Not "hundreds"

Even Western resources are not infinite, as the shortage of artillery shells shows. And many in the West are getting tired of paying for them. Because it is the taxpayer who pays with his hard-earned taxes.
Finally a question based on History. What should the West do if Russia, running out of conventional resources and suffering too many losses, decided to switch to nuclear ones in order not to lose the war against Ukraine? I remind you that in 1946 after years of war with Japan the USA managed to conquer, at the cost of huge losses of marines, only small islands like Iwo Jima and Okinawa, but not even a square mile of the main territory of Japan. What did Truman do then to quickly end the war? And, correct me if I'm wrong, it does not seem to me that God has granted only the USA the right to use nuclear weapons.

Russia has many other means of air defences... on many days occasions last month UFA surrendered whole units, even to drones. Reports of 2000 UFA casualties a day during last 2 weeks of july. If Russia's resources aren't infinite, they're surely sufficient for another 5 years of total war on Ukraine. Time, money, materials, casualties don't matter for Russia. They will never accept defeat. For them it's about NATO. It's about making a statement to the world. US will not threaten Russia 500 km from Moscow.

I completely disagree. The land chews up enormous resources for unimportant changes in land controlled by a country that is the biggest in the world. What matters is logistics and economics. At this time, Ukraine can't destroy Russian logistics because of limited supply of missiles and restrictions on being able to use them. For economics, Ukraine is making some progress by attacking oil depots, but has apparently stopped attacking major oil refineries. That might be because Russia has diverted air defense assets to them, or is complying with Biden administrations desire to not disrupt the oil market. I would assume that at some point, Ukraine starts making marine drone attacks on Russian shipping. By getting rid of submarines, Ukraine has more flexibility in deploying these drones.

To treat this like it is a serious question: Ukraine is doing well against a larger opponent, given the arms it has been supplied, combined with restrictions on using them in an effective manner. Ukraine is gradually losing ground and taking a heavy beating to its power infrastructure. But, just like Germany and Japan and Vietnam, it is rare that a country collapses in a war just because it is taking heavy losses, at least in the WW2 sense. Instead, this is more like WW1, where at some point one side will decide that the loses are just too great. Right now, Ukraine could keep fighting like this for a decade if the West continues to support it. So really it is a question of who gives in first, the Western public or the Russia public. The Western public is fickle, but far richer than the Russian public. So it really is not clear who will win. I mean, Americans just stuck with Afghanistan for 20 years before giving up.

NATO is losing? The NATO states, as well as other states, are only supporting Ukraine against an aggressor who is violating the international law of a European neighboring country. If NATO soldiers were actually involved, Russia would no longer exist.
