5 years and going! I spray all trim, doors and other odds and ends with this little unit. I replaced the hose and gun as the original did gum up. But for the price, nothing beats it. Thanks for posting this Chris!
Hi Chris....so yeah I am a 67 year old DIY. I purchased this machine to spray my 1500 sq ft single story stucco house, and I got to say it worked like a dream. Not a production unit but for an old geezer that was taking his time it really performed. Over spray was minimal and I pumped 10 gals on the body until I finally pooped out. Pretty easy clean up. I do see the advantage of a hose whip but this is a one off project for me so just used the stock hose.
I purchased one and painted my entire house from the inside and my garage with no problems. it sprayed even an saved me so much time instead of using a paint roller.
I bought a Controlmax due to seeing one sitting as a return at Home Depot. Bought it for 220.00 Sprayed a set of cabinets with it and the only thing I noticed compared to my Graco390 or Titan640i is that the lacquer (Kem Aqua, SW Waterborne) landed a bit orange peely on the surface. Ripply. It leveled out ok but still it was an area of concern. For what it's worth, if you bought this machine and dedicated it to your lacquer jobs and averaged 2-3 gallons per job, you may get 60 jobs out of it. The hose is irritating to use as it is quite stiff. Also no "on/off" switch. Other than that it's a solid purchase for the money.
Have been using mine for almost 2 years spraying kitchens and yes you can buy parts for it. Take a review for using it for one day with a grain of salt.
Idaho painter you are the man. Thank you so much for all your videos and your priceless knowledge you freely give out. I'm in kind of a jam right now and don't have my Titan 440 to use. So my question is with this1700 Titan I should have no problem using it on my next job which is an interior trim work/Mill work. I understand it's not for an everyday use. In your opinion Since I'm in a pinch and don't have my 440 doing a few interior jobs with this Sprayer should be just fine. Thank you again for all your help. I find myself watching hours and hours of your videos trying to soak up as much knowledge as I can 👍
I got the 1900 control max and for the money feel it is a great entry level airless sprayer for the DIYer. It is very easy to use and operate. I got the whip hose conversion from you and the whip hose, looking forward to trying them out in the near future on my house.
I did buy a filter for this gun it is the Titan HEA filter set (353-705) that attaches to the gun itself. By the way great video as always. Very informative Thanks.
Great review. I have the Wagner Control Pro 190 Sprayer I use strictly for staining on decks & fences when I need it. Works great for what I need it for. Definitely won't last a lifetime but for the $ it does a good job for doing smaller jobs.
This is an excellent video. Thanks for posting. I appreciated the detailed, honest explanation of each feature/component. However, the sound was terrible. It was very difficult to hear you in some parts and others you were very loud. But the info I could hear clearly was great. 🙂
I have something like this unit that I bought from harbor freight and I have sprayed a deck, T1-11 on a garage, the trim for the garage, a trim pack with 6 doors and 50 pieces of trim, a 6 ft cedar fence, and 2 interiors ( 1 apartment and 1 house) I am absolutely amazed at what I have been able to get done with this thing. It has payed for itself 5 x's over and still works great.
@@Idahopainter Yeah, I'm still struggling to get my subs and I am noticing a lot of Contractors just want to use me up. I have worked for 4 companies in the past 3 months. Kind of discouraging actually, but I think it is just the reality of our workforce today.
i like your approach. i been painting up here near Yosemite for 20 yrs. we get extreme cold and heat so the products gotta be good also. i have had a couple titan, graco, airlessco too. titan wins . i prefer the hiboy models for easier moving. but heck it's just paint it can?always be sanded and sprayed again. keep up the good work.
Helpful vid. As a part-time painter it's tempting to go budget (which I've done) but I might just suck it up for the 440 which will probably last forever.
This is the difference in a "Homeowner" vs "Professional" grade tools. There are a lot of differences from your Skil, Harbor Freight or Ryobi's homeowner tools and your professional Festool, Milwaukee, Makita, Bosch... The quality of the plastics, cords, power, bearing vs bushings, engineering... Professional tools typically work better and last longer, they are more enjoyable to work with. To me spending $600 more for a 440 Impact is a no brainer, even if I were just a DIY'er doing a one time job, I would buy the better tool and then sell it when I was done. I've learned to not buy cheap quality tools, tires, shoes/boots and mattresses. You tend to get the best value buying quality vs price.
I really only need a sprayer to paint my two story home and I Probably wouldn't use again after that... Im looking to buy a decent unit to get the exterior painted instead of renting one this looks like it might the right choice.. any thoughts on using Sherwin Williams paint?
I am not 100% sure this machine has the guts to churn out exterior paint. I have experience using airless machine and depending on the square footage of the exterior, you might be better off getting something with a bit more power. At least it will have a higher resell value if you keep it clean.
If you dont want to rent or know someone who can loan you a real sprayer, I would advise buying a better one used or refurbished off of eBay or Craigslist. You can get quality sprayers for just a little bit more than the 400 you'd be wasting on this unit. That is way too much money to throw away on something that has a 175gallon life span and proprietary fittings with unservicable parts. At the very least "upgrade" to the cheapo home depot graco sprayers that have quickly replaceable pumps. This particular unit is just an all around terrible purchase even in its price range .
@Alex K ..Nicely put my friend.. The UK version of this pump is the Wagner Control Pro, I’ve witnessed the packings fail and the pump leak very quickly.. The Graco alternative would be a much better option. Even stretching to the GX21, whilst a step up from the pumps aimed at the DIY market, it won’t miss a beat 😊
Enjoyed the video. This would be my first time using a sprayer and looking to spray about 6 mobil homes for my brother's mobil home park, starting with cabinetry. But I think I would like a decent commercial one but not too pricey. Please let me know what you think would be a good one, I'm thinking our budget would be somewhere around 1,000 to 1,500. Thanks for your help! Paint up the town! Jeff
so been doing research and & I'm just gonna buy a paint sprayer cause all the ones homedpot rents I can only use water base paint witch leads me to ask so an oil base paint will last about 15yr and a egg shell paint will last 20yrs if I'm correct I want to go with the best paint for the fact it will protect my home longer and a water base paint will only last about 5yrs would be awesome if I could get an answer from you since your defiantly the best in this field
@@Idahopainter what would you recommend? I’ll actually will be painting less then half the house. We had the downstairs done last year and i just did one of the upstairs bathrooms.
