I could see carrying the lighter slimmer Microsoft keyboard away from home. And using the brydge SPX + keyboard as a dock at home. The USB port would come in handy.
@@samingram1373 pretty sure the USB port is for charging only. The keyboard is connected only by bluetooth so the Surface Pro isn't going to see it and if it did it would be slow anyway.
Great review. agree on the pen charger missing on the bridge - may be a deal breaker for me. how do you like the typing experience on each - is the surface keyboard better overall or brydge? also curious how you like the surface pro x overall? Brydge needs to add pen charging cradle and loose that ugly writing on the bottom of the keyboard. Great video. ps: have the surface book as well
Hi T Hoff! Thanks for leaving such a great comment. I love the Pro X, it's my favorite device because of the screen, battery life, weight, pen input & of course LTE! It's a hard choice between both keyboards honestly, I really like the type cover because it feels nicer, lighters and has a cradle for the pen but I do enjoy using the Pro X on my lap and having a solid base sometimes. If I had to pick just one, I'd go with the typecover because it's overall more functional
@@bradavon What is the main plus of having ARM? I had the surface X with ARM and it was very annoying using it for school. I could not use any of the software my school required on it, so I bought a surface 7. Genuinely curious what the plus side of ARM is. Thanks!
Could you verify if the Spx+ keyboard will fit the surface pro 8 or 9? I can’t find any SP+ for sale anywhere so really wondering if the spx+ could do the trick 🙏
How do i keep it connected when my surface and keyboard go into standby mode? I find it ridiculous i have to re pair the keyboard every time i want to use it. Tried the brydge websit and it is no longer up.
If you don't use it for 15 minutes, you have to reconnect, re-enter the connection password, the support homepage does not work, recommend no one to buy this keyboard
I think the biggest thing which everyone downplays is that bluetooth keyboards have to be paired EVERY.FREAKING.TIME you open the laptop. The Surface Pro X prides itself in the "smartphone" type experience, where as soon as you open it, windows hello has already logged you in and you can be typing in about 0.5 to 1.0 seconds. If you have to pair a bluetooth keyboard every damn time, fucking forget it. USE THE SMART DOCK CONNECTOR, BRYDGE. That's what it's there for. Nobody wants to pair anything after they open it up, this is 2021, not 2009. There should be no typing numbers, there should be no clicking dialog boxes. The freakin keyboard is attached to the tablet, of course you want to use it. It should be a seamless solution that just works, not one that you have to click yes, confirm, yes, type numbers, yes, go, ok, confirm. ESPECIALLY on a surface pro x that's ready in 1 second.
Hey Ken, thanks for the comment. It is annoying that I do have to occasionally re-pair the bluetooth of the keyboard and would be great if it was always persistent but it wouldn't stop me from using the Brydge. It would be amazing if they could use the magnetic type cover connection but I believe Microsoft patented this so no other companies can use it :(
The first one I received did the same thing. It was defective. I returned for a new one and have no issues now. Keyboard stays paired and connects every time now!
My SP+ stays paired to my Pro8 but does not auto-connect when powering up. I have to re-pair the keyboard to the surface pro for it to connect. Any suggestions?
That’s really odd! Have you fully updated the Pro 8 with the latest drivers? Sounds like a Bluetooth issue. You could also pair the keyboard to another computer and if the same issue it could be a faulty keyboard
hello , i came across you video and i was wondering if you can help me with my question. I have a Microsoft Surface Pro X Keyboard With Slim Pen , i'm buying the Surface pro 8 and i would love to know if i can use the same Microsoft Surface Pro X Keyboard With Slim Pen with the Surface pro 8 , have you tried this ? your reply is highly appreciated . thank you
@@AldoJames I saw that the surface pro x is thinner then the pro 8 & 9… did you have to widen the grips to fit the 8 in? Does it damage the hinges at all?
Annoying Brydge only sell keyboards with a US keyboard layout though, even obnoxiously listing it as "English" on their website. There isn't one English 🙄.

it is only for Surface Pro X, not for Pro 8!
I am afraid the two touching point for the SPX would break away someday in the future.
Thank you ! Great comparison. Excellent points pros / cons of each product. Hello from Canada ! :)

👍🤩💝Agreed. I love it. 💝
Thx for dgeat comparison video
Welcome :D
It's pretty annoying how Microsoft just won't make its own clamp-based type cover... Such a bummer
I don't think they will, I think they'd steer you toward the Surface Laptop
@@AldoJames which still isn't available with ARM and no signs Microsoft plans to do this any time soon :(.

Did you find out if its compatible?
Can u put the tablet on backwards if you want to use the brydge as a stand but don’t want to use the kick stand?
You can :)
Wish Microsoft would offer their keyboards without the fabric. It just gets grubby, like the one in the video. Metal is much better.

People say the connectivity is bad when pairing
It's gotten a lot better and more stable

Is there any other brand who has the same setup?
Bryge is the only approved 3rd party surface keyboard like this that I know of
do you use tempered glass?
I don't use tempered glass as I find it impacts the use of the pen slightly

does it put pressure on the glass? the hinge part
I haven't noticed this at all, the hinge part is made of rubber so it doesn't cause too much pressure
