I struggle to understand why major sites like Amazon and Etsy don't respond to complaints about scam dealers and continue to allow the seller to advertise on their site.
Right?! I agree! Even the ads that have obviously fake offerings showing a rise with a literal rainbow of neon colours in a rose…? I see it as the actual app company itself participating in the fraud being offered just because they have to be purposely looking the other way to not see the outrageous things being offered. Governments don’t seem to be motivated in any way… (makes them a participant also in my opinion). I guess the only thing that will straighten this out is for a class action lawsuit to be launched against EBAY and or ETSY for hundreds of millions of dollars…
I am sooooo glad I came across you! I actually have on Etsy to purchase seeds for an organic monstera deliciosa albo variegated. Before I clicked to make the purchase I decided to check first how to grow them and I came across you. So glad I didn’t purchase it. I don’t know if they’re ligit or not. Luckily, they were only about $3, so not a terrible burn. I'm kinda curious what they actually are, but don't think I'll be planting them.

Hi I want yo buy some genuine monsteria varagated seeds.. Can anyone tell me where I can buy genuine seeds please I would be gratefull thank you... David
I am a plant geneticist. This guy tries to explain the genetics but is wrong. Most variegated plants including Monstera do not have the control from nuclear genes with Mendelian ratios. Instead the are chloroplast mutations and this trait is carried maternally because in MOST plants plastids are in eggs not sperm. So you can get variegated plants IF the female has a mosiaic (splish splash) type of variegation and some of the eggs have both green and albino plastids. It the plant has wide sectors that are pure white and pure green (as the plant on his desk) there is a strong possibility that the eggs either have all green plastids or all white plastids and the seedlings would be all green or all white (and lethal) respectively. This is a complex subject and while this video warns you correctly of the scam the science presented is wrong. If you want to learn more look up "plastid inheritance of variegation" or " plastid sorting out". Until someone does controlled crosses and statistics telling people it is a recessive trait inherited in some statistical way is pure speculation. That being said, you have been warned avoid buying any variegated plant by seed. Trust me there are few that produce variegated plants unless the variegation is the normal not mutant form of the wild plant (e.g. coleus, fittonia, etc.). When the variegation is a mutation of a normal plant everything becomes complicated.
I believe that Thai constellation monsteras can be bred through seed since they have an inheritable mutation, only some of the resulting plants will be variegated though. On the other hand albo variegated monsteras cannot be propagated via seed since they originated from a form of genetic chimerism and thus the seeds either end up normal or on occasion they just straight up cannot photosynthesize and die not long after sprouting. that’s been my experience working with other plants with chimeric variegation, if anyone has managed to seed propagate a chimeric plant and produce offspring that retained chimerism I’d love to hear about it.
I follow someone on Instagram who grew Thai Constellation Monsteras from her own seeds. They were variegated, I don't know how many plants were not variegated.
