- Forbidden's Druid V2 is an evolution of their uniquely radical high pivot trail bike. It's loaded with both significant and subtle changes though so here's a talk through to support my Live Rave Review that's linked at the end.
Thanks to Forbidden Bike Co for the bike loan and video support and Giro Cycling UK, Peaty’s Products, Enduro Bearings, Crud XL Fenders, Torq Nutrition and Hebtroco for sponsoring the channel.
Huge thanks as always to my Patreon supporters for their monthly pledges. If you like what I'm doing and want early, extended and exclusive edits, personal buying and tech advice and other Patreon perks click on the link here: www.patreon.com/GuyKesTV?fan_...
Any questions get busy in the comments.

Helpful insight.. Thank you for creating the vid. I really like the sound of the v2
can we get a bike cave vlog? showcase your tool setup etc :D
That's an idea! I've got a right mixed set of tools so maybe that would help me get a sponsor too 🤣
I hope we can eventually find some pictures of a S1 size. Curious to see if they got rid of that top tube bend on the old Small size…
Just checked with Forbidden and it's straight top tubes on all sizes 👍
Great! Good to see the aesthetic change on a bike I can't afford
@@GuyKesTV thanks for checking, Guy!
@@gbrox17 no worries, happy to help
Obviously not a 1:1, but you had previously reviewed the Cotic Flaremax, which has a different linkage system. Could you speak to the difference in feel? I know the Flaremax is pitched as a "short-er" travel, but I'm thinking of picking these up and want to know how it would ride differently. Especially attracted to the V2 for grip for climbing chunky limestone.
Hi guy all the new bikes you've been test seem to have really steep seat angles, what are these like for long distance xc and trail riding, it was just the likes of pole and nicolai that did this, but most bikes are nearly the same now, do you recommend a steep seat angle thanks lee
Sorry for delay Lee, that's a really good question. I keep getting on steeper and steeper bikes and thinking "well this one is too far and it's definitely going to pedal weird on the flat". So far though I've not noticed it as a negative for cruising but it's great for technical climbing. Even on the Scott Scale hardtail launch which had to be the most insanely flat out 3 hour hammer fest I've ever been on that wasn't a race I didn't find the 78 degree seat angle an issue. The reach isn't even crazy long on that bike either which is the normal offset. I do find that 74 degree seat tube bike wander about and lift on climbs now I'm getting used to steeper though. I'm not sure I've really helped there have I, but I guess I'm saying I would go for a 75/76 seat at least on a distance/XC bike now and even steeper on a winch and plummet bike.
I noticed they currently have a huge sale on their bikes. I wonder if they are trying to clear their gen 1 bikes for the new gen 2.
Yep, they’re selling off the last few Druid V1 to make space for V2
In your opinion, do you think a 51mm offset fork would negatively effect the handling? I know it’s spec’d with a 44mm, which would slow steering a little bit🤷♂️right? Anyway, just curious on your thoughts. Cheers!
The steering is already on the quick side so it'll definitely be lively with a 51mm. The V2 rear end doesn't extend as much as the V1 so it won't feel as different proportionally though.
@@GuyKesTV thanks for the reply ✊ cheers!
@@namesdave no worries
Doesnt look to be too much mud clearance around the "seatstay bridge" area ?
it's tight in places but one of the things I forgot to mention is that they've specifically modelled the linkage area so that there's space for mud to fall through rather than get trapped.
How would you compare it to the v1 is it worth upgrading or staying put with its riding characteristics?
The main difference is that It’s not as extreme in the way the back end feels (less stretch under braking and when it slaps a big hit). It’s slightly slacker and longer too. If you’ve got the V1 you’re already on a winner
Whats your opinion on sizing up at 5"10".
I'm 5' 11" with a long body and I found the large bike was spot on for me and worked with the responsive vibe of the steering to keep things alive. If you like a longer, more stable bike though you should still get good post clearance with an XL. I'd double check with Forbidden on seat heights etc. though as I've not got the bike here anymore to measure things exactly for you
The tire clearance seems to be pretty low, considering that the rear wheel looks pretty cramped into the rear triangle.
I’ve run chunky 2.6in in really muddy conditions with no issues
@@GuyKesTV goddamn, just tell me one reason not to buy a frameset please🤣
Don’t like the new cable routing on the brakes. Trying to fix something not broken? Looks like will be hitting the bars a lot on some bikes.
It sort of works better with internal headset routing (which shouldn't be encouraged anyway) but I don't know why they didn't just do parallel routing
@@GuyKesTV exactly. Would have likely looked better too.
You've been a professional biking kit tester for over 25 years. When will you start saying 30 or are you sticking with 'over 25'?
🤣 First published test was in 96 in MBi but I only went full time when MBR started in 97 so got a while to go yet 😵💫
The original is way better looking.
Won't consider any rig that uses the disgusting term of...Progressive-geometry. I hate Progressives.
Sorry Nomad, I think I added that bit in. TBH it's a stupid way to describe geometry now I think about it
