As a member of the black community, we do not claim Ethan. The fact that he sees songs that deal with depression as a bad thing is disrespectful and straight up wrong. We’re never gonna be happy all the time. So when X felt depressed, he was gonna make a song about depression. It took me a long time to appreciate his music and I’m glad it do.

As a person with extreme depression to the point i wanna die at times... music like this makes me feel less alone I would rather listen to sad music while depressed rather then happy music. in a dark head space happy music makes me feel horrible like why can't I be happy too. I truly think people who don't struggle with depression and anxiety dont fully understand that feeling that pain is hard especially when your alone.
