  • This tutorial covers the Shortcuts on DJI's Remote Controller - The RC Pro. This controller comes in the Mavic 3 Cine package and is also available for separate purchase. It is currently only compatible with the Mavic 3, Mavic 3 Cine and the Air 2S. The methods used here should also work on the original DJI Smart Controller. But there are some differences as described in the last section.
    Covered in this video:
    00:00 Introduction
00:54 How to Use the Combination Buttons
01:49 Screen Brightness and Speaker Volume
    03:04 Screen Capture Shortcuts
    04:05 5D Button Shortcuts
05:22 Differences between the RC Pro and the original DJI Smart Controller
UPDATE (04/26/2022): There is a "cheat-sheet" of the Combination Button Shortcuts available on the RC Pro in the "Tips" app which you can open from the Home Screen (the RC Pro App Screen). After opening, tap "Start" and then swipe the screen to the right 6 times to get to the Buttons Overview page.
Cheat-sheet: If you would like to printout a cheat-sheet of all Combination Button Shortcuts. It’s in the RC Pro Manual on Page 18. Here’s a link that will take you there: dl.djicdn.com/downloads/DJI_R...

Thanks for these excellent videos. When I followed your instructions to download apps from the play store Google wouldn’t allow the app to be installed on the rc pro because it wasn’t listed in the “which device to install it on. It listed all my other devices. How do I get it to recognise the rc pro?

One shortcut I am missing that was on the original controller was swiping down on the screen would take you to full screen mode, really great when you need to see the camera framing without distractions. That appears to be missing from the RC Pro or am I missing something?

Not at this time. I’ve been trying to determine whether DJI has plans to include it in a future update (I have read rumors to the contrary). DJI support couldn’t comment on future releases but they said DJI has never said it would not be included.
I reached out to the a the Pilot Institute to see what they have heard and they said that, “the word on the street is summer release.” So there is some hope.
Worst case is 3rd party providers will have it once DJI releases the API. But that could take a year or more.

Is it possible to adjust the aperture, shutter speed or iso with the wheels (dials) of the Zoom or camera tilt? I think one of the most important things would be to do this, instead of using the shortcuts to turn up the screen brightness and volume. Thanks

Hey are you able to get any decent audio with screen recordings? I've tried a dozen Bluetooth and usb-c wired mics and they all sound horrible like the gain is cranked. I haven't been able to do a single screen recording. If your works I might have a service or replacement due.

    • @middleloopvideo

I have not attempted to capture audio on the RC Pro. For what I do, I’m always recording audio separately. Even the sounds the RC Pro produces I’ve captured separately and remixed back in during post production.
I know that doesn’t help you. If I have a chance, I’ll do some testing. I can see it being useful as a reference track to keep things organized during post. Does your mic allow for padding? I think I can knock my usb mic down by 3 or maybe 10db. It’s been a while since I’ve used that mic. My current audio setup works very well which I’ve listed in the description.
      Thanks for reaching out.

I just came across DJI’s official word on the subject in the FAQ www.dji.com/mobile/rc-pro/faq and remembered your question. “DJI RC Pro has a built-in speaker and no microphone. For phone calls and recording, it supports an external microphone through the USB Type-C port.” I’ll need to play with it.

    • @BlairAir

@@middleloopvideo wow. I'm impressed you remembered. A few weeks ago Samsung gave me a list of mics. Unfortunately all cheapo wired headsets for phones, but I remembered the AKG sets we used to get with the Note 8, 9 & 10. Itvwas the first mic I tried back in November when I got RC pro, and it was unusable- then went on an endless hunt. Just for kicks I tried it again and it works fine. Not great, but not like the gain is at +1000 dB either! Perhaps FW V01.00.0500 in January fixed it, I haven't tested anything after so many failed almost the same way, so now I have to grab a decent wireless lavalier mic and retest. Any sub $150 you might suggest? 🤔 Thanks again for remembering!
PS at that link Samsung says " For phone calls and recording, it supports an external microphone through the USB Type-C port." - would have to be wifi/voice calls unless they offer a SIM card/GSM/CDMA/LTE in other markets.

I finally got around to testing the RC Pro with the only USB Mic I own. This is the Yeti Blue USB Microphone ( amzn.to/3vOloNP ). This is a desktop mic, which of course you'd never use it in the field because of it's size, but I thought it would help me to start troubleshooting the problem you reported regarding the USB mic over-feeding the input of the RC Pro.
It works perfectly. This mic has a gain control, which does change the recording level on the RC Pro. If I crank it to the max, it does "Slightly" over feed the recording. When lowered to the minimum, is is "slightly" low... Mid-Range is perfect.
I too wonder if DJI has fixed the problem via a firmware update as you suggest

I’m glad you liked the video. If the RC Pro has a mic, I’m not aware of it. I’ve heard someone say they used a usb mic and it overfed it but I can’t say if it was during a screen recording.
Not sure what kind of video your looking to shoot. But, a lot of people record the drone footage, screen recording and a DSLR all simultaneously. Run a mic on the DSLR and mix all together in post. I’ve been waiting for DJI’s wireless mic to come out. I think it’ll be great.
If you do end up buying the RC Pro, I’d appreciate it if you’d use the link I provide in the video description. I would earn a (small) commission. Thx.

It records a mic. But, the RC Pro doesn’t actually have a mic. We’re planning on doing a video on just that. You’re going to need an external mic. We’ve tested a wired lavaliere
      amzn.to/3HgVIPf
      And a wired desktop mic
      amzn.to/3mtwyTU
Both are usb mics. The desktop (yeti) required a usb a to c adapter

    • @middleloopvideo
      @middleloopvideo  2 года назад

Good questions. I can’t speak to bypass. Frankly I’ve never tested obstacle avoidance.
You can control the volume of some of the messaging like, “The home-point has been updated.” But, it has no affect on critical warnings like low battery. Mine is pretty loud. If yours is low, you might want to contact customer service on DJI website. They’re very responsive on chat and for the most part, helpful.
