The comments on here supporting the likes of Kerr and such show a lack of knowledge on the subject. Sure Jacob isn’t invincible. He’s amazing though and treats the season races as part of his job.
This has been in the news for a while. This is just the drawback that you get when you want to race all the time. He's traveling the world and kicking ass everywhere he goes. As well as trying to start a family. Illnesses are bound to happen.
Always sick this first time being sick this year, how many times have you been sick this year unless your the healthiest person on earth and don't get sick
It's the downsides of a hard cut-part style. With a high fade on one side, volume at the top, it looks sharp and appealing but its lure wears off quickly. Too asymmetrical over time, too much work to maintain. Not aerodynamic.
He basically said that, if you can run, you should be running. Some athletes are just not strong enough to do as many miles as he does, so they supplement it with other things with lower impact. I think some just want to experiment to see what works best for them too. It's good to try to find what works best for you, but you should not sacrifice running less miles to do something less effective.
He said he thinks it ls silly. Guy got 4th in the Olympics. Seems like he should evaluate what his competitors did before wholly dismissing things they are doing that he is not.
No one can say for certain if he was really sick, but world-class distance runners who expend so much energy every day are at risk of a compromised immune system that is subject to many colds and other flu-like illnesses. Back when I was running at a much lower level than these guys, I was getting colds and cricks in my neck/back all the time.
Oh stop the damn excuses every single time you get beaten. Learn to lose with grace and give credit to your fellow competitors who work just as hard as you, catch colds and coughs too and who also have injury niggles as well as lives outside of the sport. He always asks real questions and Jakob and everybody else loves him and we get to see the best of the athletes, because they get to talk about things that actually matter to them.
This guys always “sick” nonetheless still a stud.
Part of the reason is he shows up to many competitions. Other pros just don’t show up when sick or tired.
@@chrisvarelabenitez4690 he's been sick twice
"One time- Hocker", and Kerr can't even beat a sick Jakob, who runs 10 times more races than them. Good luck on the bike! 🎉😂🇧🇻💪
Still lost 😂
might be bad lighting but the hairline is looking vulnerable
@@TongueOfCrow 😂
hahahha real
more aerodynamic 💪💪
That will not effect his running
It's the downsides of a hard cut-part style. With a high fade on one side, volume at the top, it looks sharp and appealing but its lure wears off quickly. Too asymmetrical over time, too much work to maintain. Not aerodynamic.
Kinda ridiculous to critique the guy that beat you in the Olympics for cross training.
@@paulhill1451 wouldn’t say he was critiquing him he’s just saying that’s not what he does and he thinks it’s odd
Ya, in only one race, Hocker won’t do anything again?
He said he thinks it ls silly. Guy got 4th in the Olympics. Seems like he should evaluate what his competitors did before wholly dismissing things they are doing that he is not.
so much for cross training. lol
Came from Boulder...B-Old-ER...probably just a coincidence...
He seems to be sick a lot when he loses
Bruh it was well known fact he was sick last week. Had he been healthy, he would’ve asked for 3:26 pace
He loses when he’s sick you mean?
The rest of the field seems to be really healthy when he beats them.😂
It was mentioned that he had been unwell prior to the race. It does happen..
Maybe also keep the 'number 1' finger gesture for the start line of the 5,000k and drop it for the 1500m where it is not appropriate.
Big talker. Oh I meant trash talker. Pathetic
but he didn't lie though. He's clearly off and understandably so because of his hectic schedule.
@@david2804me seriously, travelling globally puts the body at huge risk of illness when In enclosed areas with lots of people for extended periods of time, and when the demands of running sub 3:30 are so high any illness will have significant energy loss. If Kerr raced as much as Jakob we might hear about some of his illnesses, unfortunately he only shows up a hand full of times a year, so it’s unlikely.
I suggest you are a Kerr fan.look at his wife profile he is literally with high fever for three fucking days
It's not an excuse, it's a fact. I bet you are as productive and don't complain at all when you go to work sick.. If he didn't say anything, people like you would be coming here saying "Oh he's finished! He's so bad now." You'll always find a reason to hate him.
Give credit to the winner stop making excuses everytime u lose
don't diss my threshold goat
@@ismailgrou1667 it was the interviewer who kept the questions focused on illness, Jakob was saying he felt good today.
My guy always sick when he loses
Not in Paris.
It's almost as though there is a correlation between being sick and losing...
Indoor World Championship 22 (Covid) and outdoor World Championship 23 (fever and sore throat). He did not blame sickness in outdoor World Championship 22 or in the olympics in Paris. Rather he said he was in his life's shape in Paris, but he ran faster than planned the first round, tried to correct the second round but still ran to fast, and that got him in the end so he had nothing to answer with in the final few hundred meters. He didn't even claim he would have won if he paced the first two rounds correctly, just explained why he couldn't run the last few hundred meters the way he normally would. It was not a secret that he was sick before this event, so should he just play ignorant when asked about his sickness?
Stop wasting time running after EL G's masterpiece. You stand a better chance in the 5k and 10k
I don't think trying to hate on him going after the record going to help. He already broke 2, 20+ year records and one of EL Gs own. He is still getting faster every year. Why stop now when he can run fast 15s and smoke all the 5k guys?
@@lunarkoala2375 you need to go back and do some homework. I love this guy, so it’s not a question of hate. It’s statistics. He IS unbeatable in anything above 2k. Not anything below
They’re coming down from the Olympic peak and have been running sub 3:30 consistently all season long, they’re closer than you think
@@sergeluyou Are ignorant about the subject if you don’t think he can beat it. He has less than a second left over almost 3.30 minutes. You are just trolling
He’ll do it, just wait👍
Funny how the interviewer asks the questions almost implying that Jakob should have won, when he hasn’t won a global 1500m in three years, and didn’t even medal at the Olympics.
Funny how someone who doesn't follow the sport confidently criticizes the interviewer. This was a diamond league race with pacers. He has won pretty much every one of these diamond league races in the past three years.
nope he didnt medal at the olympics. just a gold in the 5k. no big deal.
Literally won one of these races 2 weeks ago and smashed an "impossible" wr in between..
this was a diamond league race and when was the last time he did not win one of those?
@@pedrosorio9 As I said, a global 1500. Global means World Championship or Olympics. No one remembers athletes for Diamond League wins. The interview was after the 1500, not the 5k.
I was just reading his brother’s account of how their dad raised them, and it was horrifying. And it made me feel a little bit sorry for him. And then I see an interview like this one. What an unlikeable douche.
Almost all GOATs are douches. Michael Jordan. Tom Brady. Bolt was nice but arrogant. It's the audacity to think you're unbeatable that makes them unbeatable.
What did he say that was "douche" like? He was just answering the questions as far as I could see.
Is Jacob or his Dad the douche?
@@zk4761 I disagree. MJ and Brady drove their teammates really hard, but have you seen interviews with those guys? Like the one where MJ was asked if he was the greatest ever (spolier, he said no)? Jakob just has no grace whatsoever.
@@kowboys1180 That's cool, we can disagree. There were a lot of players that really didn't like MJ, Kobe, Brady, Muhammed Ali, etc. It comes with being great. Jacob isn't the only one in track. SML might be an amazing person but she comes off arrogant and cocky. Michael Johnson was cocky and arrogant. Jacob has the 'potential' to set the world record from the 1500m to the marathon, he has reason to be even cockier.
Jakob is such a wonderful person. Jakob, thank you for all you do. I enjoy being your personality fan and race fan. I really enjoyed watching you win the gold medal in the 1500 meters at the 2021 olympics.
I'm fascinated by his claim that he will take down all them WR's! For me, id say 1500m & mile are just beyond reach but he obliterates the 5 and 10k - and the steeplechase!
Mile definitely within reach with a longer pacer duties but 1500m is just something else still
