As a Dodgers fan. Come on ya'll, send the Nats some love for that series. Final game was a great pitching performance and an absolute defensive masterclass from the Nats infield to back up that pitching performance. Plus you could've talked about Knack debut, Miller IL stint inbound, and CJ Abrams goes crazy. There were definitely some topics to cover.

I’m not a dodgers fan but this is accurate. The nationals are very very underrated. A lot of young guys with something to prove, and the vets keep it balanced. I don’t think they’ll get anywhere, but they are absolutely capable of winning against any team in baseball.

To answer Trev's question about 2 slow pitchers. On August 13th, 2022 Marco Gonzales faced off against Dane Dunning in Texas. That season Marco averaged 88.5 on his fastball and Dane averaged 89.5. Average of *89.0* MPH between the two. Kyle Hendricks so far is averaging 87.9 while Tommy Henry is averaging 90.2. Between them that's an average velocity of *89.1* MPH
So there is at least one matchup that was the smallest bit slower than the Hendricks-Henry battle.

@@subswithnovids-xv4ep Actually as soon as Trev brought it up in the video I thought back to that very specific game where the FOX broadcast talked about how both pitchers have exceptionally low fastball velocity. The broadcast spent a whole inning just talking about the slow fastballs. It's burned into my brain

As a cardinal fan, I don’t care what you say about oli marmol… he needs to win to prove himself. If anything, not enough people are talking about Wilson contraeras. Besides his hot start to this season (and a 12 game hit streak), he was scapegoated last year for our pitching struggles yet has handled the new pitching staff so well and deserves some credit for our pitching success. He is one of the most professional and hard working players I’ve ever watched and you see the product on the field. He deserves more love for sure
As a brewers fan, of the losses we have had this season, it has been because the team gave up free runs in errors, mistakes, and lucky plays that chain together. In the first two games of this series, the Padres hand an absurd amount of bloop singles that just added up time after time.
Let’s not forget that the Mets went on an 11-3 run _last_ April, concluding with a series win in Dodger Stadium, and two wins in SF. They lost the final two games in SF, which began a 3-12 run that portended what was to come. That 3-12 run included series losses against the Nats and Rockies, and a series sweep at the hands of the Tigers. The Mets’ starting pitching has been more lucky than good so far, and I think some serious regression is coming, so I’m not ready to buy in. If they’re still winning 6 weeks or so from now, I might be more optimistic.

Everyone wants to close the book on Houston. Let them get healthy first. Everything fixes itself when the injured come back here pretty soon. Plus this brutal opening few weeks sucks with the pitching injuries.
Both losses for the Brewers came from 2 bad innings. Just a lot of unfortunate hits from the Padres and Brewer's errors. Great bounce back on Wednesday and hoping for a solid road trip!

More or less agree with Jake on his take on the Brewers this past week. Pat Murphy did an interview after the 2nd game against the Padres talking about how he firmly believes in the 'Baseball Gods' and that sometimes you just get outplayed or unlucky with injuries (Think the 1st inning of Game 2 where 4 runs scored off of Miley getting hit in the knee or Yeli having back issues again). Its nice to get hot and show off what the team can do, but the season is long and the Crew will get a chance to face the Padres again. They will bounce back, but kudos to the Padres and King for putting on a great performance and showing that they are in this season to compete. I'll be seeing 2 of the 3 games between the Crew and the Yankees when they come to Milwaukee on the 26th-28th so we can all get a chance to see what Milwaukee can do :)
how nice is the ballpark? Im trying to go to them all and I just cant tell how high I should prioritize Milwaukee. I've seen videos saying it kinda needs renovations, but it also looks nice on the broadcasts. Some Brewers fan input would help!
@@subswithnovids-xv4ep I worked there for a few summers (my dad did too back when it first opened in 2001) so I know the ballpark pretty well. Its is a very beautiful building when it comes to it's engineering but some of the amenities are lacking. Its getting upgrades over these next few years and I haven't been there to see all of what they changed since last season (new scoreboard, new market area for local Milwaukee restaurants, etc). Hopefully you can catch a mid summer game with the roof open. You have to tailgate to get the full experience!

Reed Garrett is an early product of the Mets pitching lab. He’s up to five total pitches and his splitter is absolutely NASTY. I was sitting right behind the mets dugout for game 2 and he was absolutely incredible.
Trev is probably right with Yordan being the guy you want in a big spot, makes what the Braves did to him even more special

We had Pressly as closer, not the best but yeah he's good. Now Pressly has been shuffled down he's struggling, Hader is not ehat we paid for...yet. But don't sleep on Astros, thry always start slow
Don’t know how to feel about the Stros.
We’ve started out bad before and still ended up in the postseason. The usual slumpers are slumping.
Also missing 5 starters and got rid of 3 good relievers.
Hoping it gets turned around when they’re full strength.
But.. at the same time.. this time feels different.
If they could go get a few starters it wouldn't looks so bad, but their farm isn't strong right now. They've either called up or traded away all their top prospects the last year or so.
@@brandondillman5841 yeah we just called up our top starting pitching prospect , Arrighetti and he got torched his first game. He looked better the second game, but the offense and bullpen let him down.
@@Nicholas-HTX Even if it's over for the Stros dynasty, they had a great run. Any fan would be happy if their team pulled off a 8 year run like they just did. Might just be time to retool. They still have some great talent to build around.

Every April people proclaim that the Astros are dead and every year for the past 7 years they get hot and end up in the ALCS. This year won't be any different. They have 5 starting pitchers out with injury but are getting Verlander and Valdez back soon. Urquidy will be back in a month while Garcia and McCullers will be back right after the All Star break.
While that is true and I agree, it never looked this ugly
We just need some consistency from the closers and we would have won at least 4 games….
@@freezy8593 not just the bullpen, but the bats as well. When they win they score 8+ runs. When they lose they can barely muster 3 or 4. Its truly a feast or famine situation
I am a diehard astros fan, and to me, this seems like an obvious trap year where we all expect them to be good or great because theyre Houston and meanwhile youve got injuries, age, underperformance and more all adding up. The window is starting to close, it's just a fact.
Man, I want to believe but we’ve looked embarrassingly BAD in a lot of these games. Our record through 20 games the last 3 seasons:
21: 10-10
22: 11-9
23: 10-10
There’s an entire season of baseball still in front of us. I would prefer to look like shit in April then get hot at the end of season. Even so, you still have to make the playoffs 🤷🏼♂️. I’m cautiously optimistic.

Never look at standings before All Star Break. Many teams start slow but come good when it counts. If the season ended in April, Yankees would win ws in recent years 😉😂😂
LAD, 12-9. OK.... They're playing awful. Yeah, and they're still 12-9 and injured. All the haters can not rest assured, by break it'll be 55-20. And if not... GOOD! when LA gets hot mud year, they burn out by playoffs.
When LAD won the WS in 2017, they got red hot after break 30-8 or something, then lost 14 of 16, then 11-12 to finish year.. then coasted until game 2 of the WS.
Then ASStros cheated out. So yeah... We don't want LA hitting their peak mid ish year, cuz then the league will have their number dialed in come playoffs. It's all waxing n waning in MLB. It's what team has their mojo going strong until the other 29 teams figure them out
How you guys didn’t talk about the Orioles insane homer streak is beyond me. They have hit 3+ HRs in 5 straight games, 2nd longest streak since literally 1900. Only team with a longer streak is 1986 orioles with 6 games with 3+ homers. And not giving Westburg his credit for batting .482 over the last 6 games is a disservice. Spend less time on the yanks winning 1 of 3 and more time on teams like the O’s doing historic things.
