    I felt quite misled with how the killer power turned out compared to the teaser, but after using it for some hours on live release i am having a blast hitting orbitals and predicting with teleport. He may fall into obscurity but he is still a W to me

      Yeah and that's what's important. The fantasy of playing such a horrible obscure monster is still very real, we got a little confused, still thinking we were getting a crawling killer...but still a fun killer imo.

      @@goagulant9503 The new map isn't bad for killer though, a lot of weak loops, not that strong of a main building, all the gens are cuddled together. If anything if a survivor brings an offering it's gonna be a coin toss.

      @@dineez627 i never really came to any conclusion regarding it being better for survivor or killer. I just dont think its good for anyone.
      -maps too big, last thing this game needs is another map like ormond.
      -unique structures are lacking and in useless corners of the map.
      -the filler loops in the center of the map are completely useless for both sides, not to mention the 2 garaunteed double pallet loops that require the killer to break one, unless of youre playing a top tier killer of course. I long for the day where something benefits lower tier killers and not higher tier ones.
      -exit gate spots are terrible for survivors. The one by the statue is basically a garaunteed kill if the killer finds you there and the one by the main building has absolutely no cover and honestly looks unfinished.
      I really like the aesthetic of the map but its not much cuz the only unique things are in the most secluded corners of the map and the rest is filled with copy pasted pallet gyms and rocks and trees

    I'm surprised his teleport wasn't mentioned because it's by far the most flexible teleport in the game. It's situational, yes, and can be disabled by survivors, but more often then not I've been dropping illusions at loops and surprising survivors by simply appearing somewhere else I'm not supposed to be because it's so fast. So, he technically has two anti-loops, and in the right situations where this goop ball doesn't work, his teleport will

      yeah and with his power being aoe it will also force survivors to counter it by taking loops wider otherwise they can potentially get hit through a wall resulting in some bad tiles for m1 killers to be very good for the unknown cause if they are weakened theyll have to take the loop wider losing distance lots of little things making this killer stronger that scott doesnt acknowledge

      some big walled loops ive even hit a rebound off a tree and hit them over the wall, tree hitboxes are weird but just like blight having bugged bounce detection its probably similar with the unknown but with afew updates itll be consistent like ive even shot on some props that just either made the ball splat not exploding or itll bounce in place and explode

    I have already had a bunch of sick "huntress like" moments when finding a cool shooting spot gives you huge value. I absolutely love this killer because it has great potential, just like other mechanical killers like huntress and Billy, or Wesker

    The annoying thing for me is that direct hits on survivors don’t count. Like I gotta get used to shooting at the ground near them.

      Agreed. Getting a direct hit should be more rewarding. Sometimes youll direct hit them and the blast is just a little too far in front of them, doing nothing.

      @@domonkosrevay9423 But it doesn’t make them weakened right? I was testing him against bots and didn’t notice direct hits making them slower, they would scream but it would just bounce off them and not give weakened.

    Scott talked at length about the Unknown’s ranged attack, but I have a feeling people are overlooking its ability to instantly teleport to Hallucinations. It’s a bit like a combination of Hag’s teleports and Demogorgon’s portals which makes it an interesting ability potentially. It also has some add-ons that buff the Hallucinations and teleportation in various ways. The teleportation can help with long range map movement and map control, and also potentially allow Unknown to do Dredge like teleportation plays at tiles where they loop a survivor around a tile toward a Hallucination and then teleport over and get a quick hit.
    I’ll be curious to see if anybody tries out Unknown builds focussed on the Hallucinations. For instance, you could have a long range perk like BBQ and Chili or Make Your Choice and then teleport to the aura or noise notification. And you could try something like I’m All Ears to get auras mid-chase and then use that information to teleport right next to a survivor behind a tile potentially. You could also for example combine the Obscure Game Cartridge add-on which speeds up breaking and vaulting actions for a while after a teleport with Brutal Strength and Bamboozle to make a juggernaut style Unknown build where you just teleport and smash through tiles easily.

      I actually think it can be a little random at times, BUT it lines up very well with BBQ. I really enjoy the teleports, glad I'm not the only person who sees it as a huge W in his kit.

      I’d argue his teleportation is the strongest part about his kit, honestly. It’s the fastest teleport in the game, you can sort of control it since you see when a new Hallucination is about to spawn, and it is not countered by placing more Hallucinations or the survivor dispelling. His main power is dope as hell, but I wouldn’t be surprised if a lot of people focus on only Hallucinations due to how crazy it is.

      I’ve been using both the obscure game cartridge and the other addon that allows you to regain full movement speed faster once teleporting, along with bamboozle and brutal strength literally turns you into an unstoppable monster. what a lot of people don’t realize that you can technically place any of your hallucinations anywhere on demand as long as you have your tentacle spitter out just before you’re about to place one down. I’ve gotten so many people in T&Ls, shack, main buildings because I was able to place down my hallucinations in really great spots. Definitely a hard killer to pick up but when you master them people will be scary with him

      My normal build is Lethal Pursuer and Friends to the End, plus NOED and some other perk. Unknows teleport is really great paired with Friend, it just boils down to where my Hallucinations are, so it doesn't feel like a broken combo imo

    The Unknown gets to sit with Dredge, Singularity, and Pyramid Head in the 'Killers with a cool design but are barely played due to clunky mechanics' Club
    ...which is a pretty niche club tbh, but the fact it keeps getting members is pretty interesting

    Idk if anyones talked about this but spamming the power button stops the Slowdown when you Release power, allowing you to Put hallucinations in good places, hope that lil plus i found helps

    It would be so cool if Survivors lose their toxic-state faster by looking at the Killer BUT the Killer can crawl (like Ghostface's crouch) to not be seen as easy on low tiles.

    Regarding the jank of weakness, I've found that it pays to take tiles in weird ways that put you out of los, since your power can let you get hits from range and weird angles. If you're in an open area, going hit and run is usually better.

    I've really enjoyed this killer ngl. Getting crazy bounces feels so rewarding, and the teleport is very nice. Honestly might be my main and he seems fine to go against too. It's not like chucky were the killer just gets free hits, there's counter play on both sides. The bounce might feel unfunny to play against but I'm unsure, haven't played survivor yet

    I played a couple survivor games today which blew me away compared to how they often went in the PTB.
    A couple of The Unknowns were VERY conscious of where they let there hallucinations get put down.
    They were very mindful about whats happening in the area, and when to teleport back to them.
    They would get a down elsewhere, then teleport back to pressure a gen.
    It felt like going against a hag, but a hag with a ranged bubblegum launching weiner cannon - which they were also no slouches with either.
    This is def a killer with a high skill cap that has a lot of potential in the right hands.
    But like billy, most hands won't be suited to taking full advantage of him.

    this killer has a couple of things that are a bit ridiculous.
    The first thing which everyone knows, he gets hit through walls.
    The second thing I noticed last night, the hurtbox from the explosion lingers. You can dodge the explosion, then actually run back into it after it explodes and still get hit by it. It works more as a gas than an explosion imo. The zoning can be quite oppressive.
    There are quite a few scenarios where you cannot avoid getting hit by him. Red Forest for example, there are a few loops where you're gonna get hit through walls quite a bit.

    His macro juggle is where he shines. Poking and prodding survivors for health states and resources, getting weakness hits to build up hallucinations to place in your 3-gen area, being able to abandon chase instantly to go across the map and pressure the unhook...very fun when it all comes together. Definitely a struggle on a map like Haddonfield though. Too much LoS and room to dodge (though hallucinations can counter the windows and you can get some cheeky hits through the 2nd floors). I definitely think he's going to feel really weak against SWFs with good comms in the long run.

    His biggest annoying L moment - direct hits with your ball not gramt you anything. Moreover - you usually punished with direct hits through survivours because of bouncing. Its super frustrating.

    I got Sable, and when I used the Invocation for the first time, my teammate apparently did not like that and went and purposefully brought the killer to me and fake saved me while I was on hook. Im like, man, he doesn't like that people using that perk, huh?

    Unknown is better than Wesker imo. Unknown can shoot through walls. There is only one other killer that can do that and she’s considered S-tier because of that simple fact.

    I think you're kinda wrong about the future pick rate of this killer but I agree that he's kinda frustrating sometimes but I bet he's gonna be played a lot because people like the ranged killers and if you're an fps player shooting with his power is not extremely hard

    I played about 15 matches with the Unknown so far and i absolutely love him. Had a great time in most of the matches and mostly very decent results too

    Please for the love of god make the blast radius not stay up for 2 seconds. I dodge it which already loses me distance, and then I have to just go away entirely unless I want to get hit because the blast stays up longer than it should

    most survivors just don't look at the killer, they just run and predrop.. so when they have to look at the killer they get mind gamed easily

    My main thought for this killer so far is that the main power is actually the teleport and the goop shots is the secondary things that helps... sometimes.
    Relying on the goop as your main tool has proven to be not the right decision in most of the times. If the survivor is marked in a open space, they probably are going to be able to evade the second shot super easily, and by the time you can shoot again they are unmarked. Sometimes, even if you think you have a guaranteed hit, odds are you gonna get cucked by the bounce in some way and be denied the hit. The best use I found for the goop is far checking gens, forcing odd movement in tight loops and jungle gyms, and only really going for hits in situations where I know the survivor will have a hard time getting their eyes on me to lose the mark, which make those loops with small fences or tables pretty bad, unless you mastered the goop bounce unpredictability.
    The teleport in itself allows you to retrace your steps after downing / hooking a survivor or even when you abandons a chase for X reason. Even if you can't follow a hit, just gooping the survivor to make you poop a clone faster is enough value. Relying more on teleports i have been finding more success in my games than when I try to rely more on the goop.

    I don’t know how fun I’ll find this killer, but I will find it fun to watch character experts. You know some people are gonna go crazy on this character with his bounce logic. The same crazy that old space Billy players have.

    Honestly, a good middle of the road original killer is probably what this game needed at the moment anyway. The last three originals have either been brain dead easy and not that good (Knight and Skull Merchant) or potentially very good, but extremely hard to play (Singularity). I feel like Unknown strikes a good middle ground between strength and skill.
    Not everyone will find abundant success or enjoyment out of him, but I personally am really loving his gameplay. He’s probably going to become one of my main killers.

    i think youre thinking too chase oriented ive been getting insane value by playing more of a macro playstyle. if i spot a survivor in the corner of my eye while im in a chase ill pop my power and mark them for a future chase. its really funny to say this but to play a good unknown you have to play "unknown" you gotta be tricky and multitask ur chases. and to be even more tricky ive even left chases with injured survivors if i dropped a husk to bait them into cleansing it just to tp back and down them.

    I feel like the easiest and most fun way to fix the constant revealing of countering of his ability would just to be giving the Unknown a crouch. I mean, we've seen him run on all fours already on several occasions, he breaks pallets on all fours, why can't he crouch similarly to Ghost Face or Pig? He doesn't need to be undetectable basekit, but a crouch in my opinion would add gameplay and spooky factors.

    If you aren't aware your explosion go through walls so you don't always need to bounce off of things and can just spit at walls

    In terms of rock loops or things similar, the trick is to hit the top of the rock to skip it over or if its a thin rock shot just before the bottom to get a through the wall hit. This killer is interesting because you can get through the wall hits easier on good survivors because you know they will hug things well and will use check spots so it's easy to predict where they will be.

    Yeah the killer needs the timer to be extended, and for direct hits to count. Possibly direct hits causing some sort of extra effect (Repair/Healing/Speed/Exhausted/Exposed). Obviously the more dangerous effect the shorter the timer. I'm not saying direct hits from 100% healthy should have you 1-hit for 2 minutes lol.

    Edit- it's only when you damage them via weakened- and it does not go past the cap of 10 seconds.....
    Yeah I think I'm not going to play this killer for longer than a week if that stays that way- the power just sucks like that....

    1:43 this was the very first thing I noticed about The Unknown after watching videos of him. Why they made the time it takes to recover your power and use it ALMOST the same as the time it takes survivors to unweaken themselves is beyond me. First game I saw of someone playing The Unknown I said "wtf you have to immediately use your power when it's off CD or you will never do damage to them." Really dumb decision on BHVR's part.

    I have been having a LOT of success with him playing him as a hybrid hit and run/objective denial killer. Being able to weaken somebody especially from range and then screw off to go bother somebody else if the chase does not suit you not only means that they have to heal, but you also have a much higher duration at which you can injure them and fill their weakened back to maximum with your power during your next chase since you don't need to wait for cooldown. Combine that with the hallucination teleports and you have an insanely strong killer that can contest unhooks, generators, and basically any objective or area from afar.
    Granted, I do play Singularity, Dredge, Cenobite, Artist etc so playing a much more game sense heavy playstyle comes more naturally to me but this is definitely my favorite way to play the killer. Ultimae Weapon / Corrupt Intervention / Pain Resonance / Floods of Rage has been putting in TONS of work. I feel that when you play him right, he could easily be low A tier tbh. His map pressure and ability to contest generators and hooks from long range is actually pretty insane.

    One reason why the player count is really high is because of the amount of marketing they did for this chapter with all the teaser trailer actually making people excited for this chapter

    This killer is so op lol 0 sign of teleporting for the survivors so basically the best teleport in the game, ranged killer with a giant hit box as 4.6 movement speed is insane it’s insanely hard to win against him and the winrates for killer are literally 70% now…

    issue is, with the new buffs most the killers are now incredibly annoying to go against. new players won't stay if they just die instantly every match.

    It doesn’t really matter if he has a high pickrate or not. Look at Pig with a 2 % pickrate with a 62 % killrate. He will get nerfed 100 % because of the sinple fact he can hit down survivors through walls. Same with Freddy, Dredge, Skull Merchant, Pinhead, Onryo and Plague. All high killrates but low pickrates.

    Easy fix: shorten the UVX cooldown and increase the explosion size. Can we change the UVX color? Seriously looks like he's shooting out pink bubblegum from his stomach. I'd even take fluorescent green over pink. 😝

    Getting fake outs by pretending to be a Hallucination is hilarious and honestly one of the most fun-looking parts of this killer. It's stealthy ENOUGH that it scratches that "play with your food"(not the perk) itch.

    Played a lot last night, the only thing I would remove is that his UVX blast radius can seemingly noclip through every wall in the game. I've been hit through shack walls or just normal high wall tiles. Extremely cheap and frustrating when Unknown players are starting to do it on purpose after most of them accidentally find out. Hopefully gets removed but other than that I don't think anything else about him needs to be changed quite yet.
    Outside of just being great at zoning pallets, his map presence is great too because people are already finding out that you can "edge💀" (spam power button repeatdely) to prevent the hallucination as long as possible until you reach the spot you want it to drop. Overall, W chapter, now they just need cross progression for the roller players and maybe just nerf merchant into the ground so we don't have to see her again.

    The mistake with this killer is not going full aura build. Lethal persuer -> Nowhere to hide -> Unforseen -> BBQ & Chili.
    For me, hes an A tier killer, im in iri rank and so far im 19/20 "wins".
    The advice I can give is to use guerilla tactics. Dont chase the same survivor if you've found that they can dodge you well enough. If you hook someone, teleport across the map and ambush a gen. Clear gens with a mortar shot. Chases in an open area is almost a guaranteed hit as long as you hold your power and wait for them try to bait your power.
    For loops: hit them ONCE with your power so they are weakened. If you can get an M1 on them and push them out of the loop, you can mortar shot them into a down as long as you aim the shot to land at their feet. If they drop a pallet, shoot your power under the pallet where the gap is. A lot of survivors still play against this killer by holding the pallet, if they sitting at the pallet and you are on the opposite side where you can chase left or right, just aim for the pallet, as you want to hit the pallet and then have it hit the ground. Likewise, you can shoot the ground so that the second bounce will land next to the pallet on the ground where they are standing to hit them.
    For your shots when you are chasing them, survivors still doubt that they can get hit from further away, if they get hit and get a speed burst most of them assume they are safe and can run out in the open. But mortar shots are supppppeerrr affective. You need to aim your mortars high, and try to have it land directly at their feet, or a little in front of their feet. If it lands at their feet usually they keep going, or they circle and continue but get his from the after blast.
    Always 👏 shoot 👏through 👏 walls 👏 towards 👏 generators!
    If you are downstairs, or even upstairs you can get a weaken or even an injure through floors or walls. If you are downstairs, try to find a corner wall to shoot so that it explodes immediately. If you cant get a corner wall, hit the edge on the ceiling so it bounces directly against the wall after for a blast.
    Anyways, ive had so much fun this killer. I think its probably going to be one of the highest skill cap killers and anyone who gets good with em will brutally dominate. Even against p100 survivors ive wiped the lobby with 4 gens left because of how brutally he can snowball the game.

    Hey Scott! Perhaps you are looking at the power wrong. Because the power is a heavily lobbed projectile, you are very capable of long range snipes out of sight. This killer feeds on long shots.

    My feeling are very mix for him. I played him a lot yesterday and lost pretty much every single match and I never really had fun even losing. I dont think he weak just hard plus I think the game set my MMR on him too high with how they do MMR for new killers(btw I hate that, I think a new killer's mmr should be set kinda low since you need to learn how to play them so Im being punish on a new killer just bc Im really good on one of my mains like wrath and legion.) Either way I do think he not going to be played a lot like Sing. I think the window in between hits as Scott said leave so little room for errors and doesn't really allow ppl to make mistakes. Allowing ppl make mistakes is how they learn, if you are always being heavy punish for ever single mistake you make that just leads to the player getting upset and rage quitting. They never going to learn anything that way.

    I get nemesis 2.0 vibes from him. His power can be extremely oppressive and shut down certain loops/areas but if you mess up using his power it can be a detriment. So far I’m having a lot of fun as and against him

    Most Killers I played against were just zoning with his power. He can't down fast, but he can guarantee downs depending on the tiles. Sadly another unfun Killer to go against.

    I definitely have more fun playing this killer than playing Chucky. He feels nice when he gets some snowball, his teleport feels really nice especially with the brown add on. And the hinder is actually noticeable but I do feel they could make hinder like 7% and increase the time by a second or 2 and it might be perfect since he slows down from pulling out his rocket.

    This is a killer where playing normal will get you destroyed. You have to play more crafty, weakening a survivor and quickly vanishing to save them for later, or teleporting to a new spot to shoot them from an odd angle. Brute forcing it is certainly not how you use the power I feel

    My only complaint with the Unknown is the visual effect that indicates when his next hallucination spawns. Thankfully it’s not been too bad, but something about it induces some minor motion sickness.

    I'm having a blast with the Unknown. I feel like him having a bit of everything makes it a pretty solid character. There's a ranged attack applying a bit of hinder and also a very generous aoe capable of damaging multiple people especially when they're are swarming and body blocking. Also applies an effect that can be considered a bit of slow down both mid chase and outside - just hitting and running or even teleporting away so people are either gotta follow you to get rid of the effect or have a troublesome chase start later. Being able to teleport across the map in an instant as well as a bit of tracking with killers instinct. He does get screwed much when survivors will learn how to deliberately find and clear his illusions which is still a time investment and a risk of being hit for free and another aspect would be obviously learning how to get rid of weakness effect while also being aware of surroundings and avoiding his zoning. At first I thought that most of his kit feels very random like how he places illusions, how projectile behaves and how staring contest goes but surely with understanding and mechanical skill from both parties allows to manage these much much better.

    I mostly agree with this statement, I think Unknown is a killer that is Difficult but also decently strong like the Singularity, I honestly don't see this killer having potential to be an A Tier killer cuz of his skill floor, his map dependency plus you almost have to sorta play in a Nemesis gameplay with Unknown where you gotta tag them and then injure them and zone them kinda like clown does, but overall he is a decently strong killer probably gonna be Mid-High B Tier maybe bottom A Tier if we see some future Unknown Mains do some crazy shit with his power

      I'd say B as well. His TP is very strong while undetectable. Wish we had more control of the TP ability. The projectiles blast on outdoor maps is nice. Needing the infect or whatever before the injury isn't the best. I wish we could use an add on that allows to use a Crawl attack besides the Projectile. Something like Freddy has, add ons that change the ability played.

    Hot take make it so the reaveal mechanic is significantly slower/potentially paused when you are in power cooldown since you are already slow and they can make a lot of distance but we'll wait and see if there is some crazy tech found by the community.

    Killer felt very nice when I played him yesterday my only real complaint is that either I don’t see it or it’s not there but I want a visible teleport cooldown timer, cause I don’t know when the next teleport is gonna happen besides when you get that audio cue

      Unsafe double pallet tiles are so fun for both sides. Easily mindgame-able for both sides. I seen several positive comments on the new tiles from killer and survivor mains.

    Since the whole gimmick for removing his power is if you know the unknown than its known so its weaker by looking at him I think it would be interesting if not seeing him or the fakes for awhile could give you the weakened state if he does need a big buff

    I did pretty well with him on my first day. That of course could be because of bad teams trying to get adept, but I still felt some value. You really have to balance how often you try for shots, rather than "defaulting" to it the way you would with Huntress or Trickster - the power is their MAIN way to attack. You also have to *trade targets* very often. The pain point for Bob is when you find a healthy survivor, successfully blob them, and then continue chasing, nervously preparing for that very brief window inbetween your power readying up, and them curing their weakness. The CURE for that pain point is to *avoid* that situation as much as possible. If you want to keep chasing, take an unexpected route behind a rock, and predict their position. It even could be that if you find someone in an exposed position and they're not weakened, you just focus on M1, Weaken them as they injure-boost, and then switch targets. My default playstyle often involves constant target swaps to catch people out of position, so he fits very well with my preferences.
    There's a rare occasion where I catch a healthy weakened survivor in the open, and it's very satisfying to two-shot them with a blob and then an M1. Admittedly, Huntress is often better at that, but I'm not great at Huntress.
    I also REALLY appreciate that his design, like Wraith, is not so map dependent. On big, open maps, you can launch your mortar anywhere. On tight indoor maps, survivors will have a terrible time revealing you, AND you have the benefit of the bounces. He's much harder to play than Wraith, so it could be stressful for a time, but I can see a skill cap, especially for delivering hits through walls.

    I like it a lot but it feels like a very perk dependent killer and the physics of the UVX ball are…strange. Also maybe I’m just misinformed but is it supposed to not injure weakened survivors with a direct hit? Unless they were removing the effect at the last minute, multiple times last night I hit somebody who was already weakened with a direct orb and they didn’t get injured/downed. Happened fine with the AoE but not direct hits.

      Direct hit does nothing except for hindering the survivor. Blast area is the real source of damage

      I put abt 5k on DBD, old gen Xbox. I put about 300 hours on my PC I built 😊 Playing killer, I must have KB&M. Survivor, I MUST HAVE a controller.

    They should change some of his addons to affect the UVX/weakness. An add on could increase the weakness duration, or the grenade speed and AoE, tentacle charge time, cooldown, or allow weakness infection on direct hits. There’s so much more they could’ve done with this.

      Addons should not mess with the inbuild counter. We have that with xenomorph and it is usually a go to addon (making the intended counter a lot weaker is obviously strong) but it is also incredible unfun. Like those killers are designed to be extremly opressive in the 1v1 which puts survivors in a lose lose situation many times. If you wanna avoid that you need to make use of the inbuild counter play.
      However if that counter play becomes less and less viable whats the point of it to begin with? Like you place a torret and carry it to a loop just so it does absolutly nothing. Quite annoying and I really would not want to see that on other killers.
