    If this film is rebranded Foma 100, then shoot it at EI50, develop accordingly, and you'll get much smoother tonality with greater shadow detail.

      I tend to rate it at 80 in XTOL or DD-X and 64 in anything else.

      I shoot it at 50 too on sunny days. On grey days I can get away with 100, but Spanish sun would make printing in the darkroom a little too challenging for sure!

    Great work. I like the compositions in many of your photos - the ones with missed focus in particular...

    In 6:17 doesn't bother at all that it is slightly out of focus. It's still a great photo. Love the composition and his attitude in the pic. That's a nice film too. Last thing: 55mm in 6x4.5 is a very nice focal length.

    Always enjoyed my 645N more than any other camera (after 54 years as a photographer, that is saying something) Shot Fujichrome and the results were incredible. Shot many weddings with it and landscapes. Owned most all lenses available for the camera at the time. Have owned many DSLRs and mirrorless and haven't found a more enjoyable camera. Sorry I got rid of it.

    The dynamic range on this film is crazy! It gives you so much more information to work on. It is especially more busy on medium format. I have shot a couple of Foma based ORWO film and the grey tones are just lovely! My favorite pic of the roll has to be the 6:25 , It has a vibe of a Tom Sawyer illustration on a book I read when little.

    S0, if I’ve heard you correctly Kosmo Foto Mono 100 is rebranded Fomapan 100. My advice would be buy the Fomapan, which is around 40% less expensive than the Kosmo Foto unless you really like the colorful box! A couple of really nice shots in there btw.

    I got the 45 & 75mm lenses included with my 645NII that I bought from Japan. Currently putting them both thru their paces with various Rollei stocks & Delta 3200 as we're heading into the dark part of winter. A little harder to get out here right now as my suburb is currently under lockdown for another 3 weeks, but I'm trying to get out every day for my exercise. That is allowed. Will definitely be taking my 645 out with me, as my C330f played up on me with my last roll & may need to be looked at by a technician. Bummer dude...

    Simply buy Foma, cheaper and is the same. When they actually pay to modify he recipe, then I would be interested in trying it. Or to be brutal, why pay more for a rebadged film? Would you buy GM car rebadged as a Lamborghini when it costs a lot more than the same GM car?

    Noob question, why couldn’t re-shoot the roll that you shot in the Fuji with the shutter not working? In the end the film wasn’t exposed so you could just rewind it. I feel like I’m probably missing something here...

      *couldn’t you

    • @mattdayphoto
      @mattdayphoto  4 года назад +1

      Lorenzo Pierpaoli I may have been able to salvage the roll if I re-wound the film again, but it’s pretty tricky to do and leaves room for light leaks and scratches on the film handling it by hand like that. If it were 35mm, it would be much easier since it’s all contained in a cartridge. With 120 film being wrapped in a paper backing, the film isn’t taped down on both sides. So as it unwinds, it’s tough to roll it back up without physically touching the film. Just wasn’t worth the headache and potential of messing up the film.
