For this Bible to have a forward/commentary from Pope Francis, it had to have been worked on and published before the October Synod. Which means all present at the tables are dialoging for show. Everything has already been decided.
You know when Jules has that smirk on his face that he's got some more facts and information to add to the stockpile for his removal as unfit for the papacy.
I tend to rely on translations of the Bible with translators’ notes which I know I can rely on. For example, Monsignor Knox’s excellent translation of the Vulgate, in the three volume version, which contains his learned translator’s notes. He was a Hebrew and Greek scholar and his notes go into great detail where any passage is doubtful. Then, even the original 1966 translation of the Jerusalem Bible (in the full size version with the translator’s notes) is readily available at modest cost. A study edition of the current version of the Authorised Version (King James Bible) is also very useful. This version (the “English Standard Version”) is the version which is being used to revise the Lectionary for use in the Catholic Church in England and Wales. It is accepted by almost all Christians, Protestant and Catholic alike, as the most accurate and reliable translation of the Sacred Scriptures. The Orthodox Churches in England tend to prefer the “New King James Bible” as do the Pentecostals and many conservative evangelical Protestants. There seems to be no need at all for this new Commentary. The study Bibles which I have mentioned usually have short introductions before each book of the Bible which give most of the history and background which a student would require.
Leviticus is very very very clear. Also Saint Paul in 1 Cor.6:9-10 and Tim. 1:10 "Arsenokoitai(man who beds with men)" and "malakoi(function as female in sexual relations)". Imagine giving you own leftists interpretation to something has been debunked many times.

We need a new Pope, a True leader of the Catholic Church. Leadership issues should not deter anyone from the Church, especially with the increasing number of converts to the Church.
This is a scandal. Corrupt bishops will give an imprimatur to corrupt writings. Holy Spirit, please correct your church. That sister called the women’s prayer meeting that Paul visited a “liturgy”. In Catholic language the liturgy refers to the official prayer of the church: the Mass, the liturgy of the hours, how to conduct the sacraments. It seems to me that there is no liturgy going on there, at most, what some Catholics might call a “paraliturgy”, a service during which the Bible is read and some prayers are offered.
I have just purchased the Latest Edition of The Jerome biblical commentary. I assumed it would just be a reprint of the past edition. Now it sits in my study like a dirty stain. And I have not the stomach to use it after paying 89€ for the copy. Your warning was too late for me unfortunately.
We are protected from any papal vagaries by the deposit of faith, the Eucharist and scripture. If the pope does not conform to these then he is not acting as pope. He cannot change doctrine and if he does he'll fail. It's a great time to be Catholic. Seriously. But that doesn't mean it is easy
@pink_kino Sorry to hear that. You broke off from the original church. It will always correct itself. If anyone was to leave, then at least go orthodox. Both were one, both trace themselves to the apostles. You now belong to a man made church. Calvinism and Once saved always saved theology are unbiblical.
“When we share in the Lord’s body and blood, when we eat his bread and drink his cup, this truly means that we die to the world and have our hidden life with Christ in God, crucifying our flesh and its weaknesses and its desires. Thus it is that all the faithful who love God and their neighbour drink the cup of the Lord’s love even if they do not drink the cup of bodily suffering. Soaked through with that drink, they mortify the flesh in which they walk this earth. Putting on the Lord Jesus Christ like a cloak, their desires are no longer those of the body. They do not contemplate what can be seen but what is invisible to the eyes. This is how the cup of the Lord is drunk when divine love is present; but without that love, you may even give your body to be burned and still it will do you no good.” ( St. Fulgentius of Ruspe’s Tract against Fabian in Office of Readings 10/16/23) Those who are bound to pray the Office read these words and are supposed to understand what they mean so that they will draw courage and live them. How will they be able to do so if they are being taught what is contrary?
I hope somebody will be bold enough to tell Pope Francis that he has no authority to change the teachings of Christ and His Apostles and the Church Doctors. The Roman Dogma is our guide! Please. Thank you.
“If theology is to have any meaning beyond the self-affirmation of the theologian, the first prerequisite is that the personal intelligence of its representatives must not be flaunted but that the theologian must, above all and, as it were, as his primary concern, give straightforward information about what the Faith teaches, for without that there will be no theology” [Joseph Ratzinger, Co-Workers of the Truth: Meditations for Every Day of the Year, ed. Irene Grassl, trans. Mary Frances McCarthy and Lothar Krauth (San Francisco: Ignatius Press, 1992), 329.]
Tell that to the editors of the NRSV Bible it's been blatantly edited to remove key passages about homosexuality being sinful. The Catholic Edition is commonly used.
Well, big Frank and his minions went off and did it, overtly or covertly heretical. A sad, crazy situation, and they oughta be ashamed of themselves. Fat chance comments like this wiIl have any effect on their behavior. Desperate prayer.
Just because the Commentary contains a Forward by the Pope, it is not, thereby, rendered “infallible”. It is worth remembering that there was serious concern when Pope Pius IX insisted upon defining the Dogma of Papal Infallibility in 1870. As a compromise, it was accepted in the Church that the Dogma might remain, but that it would never be used. In fact, it has never been used. People do refer to the definition of the /Dogma of the Assumption by Pope Pius XII in 1950, however, the document itself recites that the Pope had previously written to all Bishops to obtain their agreement to promulgating the Dogma. As a result, this Dogma was really Synodal in nature - it was not the case of the Pope acting on his own authority alone. In any event, it did not introduce any new teaching into the Church. An earlier Council had already held that the Assumption was a “probable” doctrine which the Faithful were free to believe, so nothing really changed when it was more formally defined in 1950. Pope John XXIII was asked, when he became Pope, what he thought about the doctrine of Papal Infallibility. He replied obliquely “Well, I can confirm that I shall never teach infallibly. To teach infallibly I must state, specifically, that I am teaching infallibly and I can confirm that I shall never do that.” He was quite clear that the changes which he wished to introduce into the Church could only be authorised by an Ecumenical Council and that it would simply not work to try to introduce changes without the consent of the Bishops on his own authority alone. So, I think that we may safely say that the doctrine of Papal Infallibility is a “doubtful doctrine” which has never been used in practice and which, in all probability will never be used.
This is very distressing. Essentially they are saying the Bible is wrong, the past is wrong and Jesus was wrong. If that is the case then how will we ever accept what they say as the truth in the future? I guess at the second coming, Jesus will first need to apologize to Sodom and Gomorra!
This is what you get with the exaggerated form of Sola Scriptura, while in fact, we should all acknowledge that the Holy Bible needs interpretation, and 2000 years old Church history has proven that this was not a simple thing. So to ensure that we get the correct interpretation of Scriptures we should focus on the following: To make sure that we have the correct Bible translation, because this is our foundation, and many heresies derive from a bad translation. Too seek for the interpretation of the early undivided Church (33 AD - 451 AD) through the universal agreement of the Church fathers (consensus patrum), because they were the disciples of the disciples, they produced the fruit that God wants, and they changed the world with their testimony. Then to trust in the men that God has appointed in His Church to feed His flock, because they are experienced in God's Word. And last, to be guided by the Holy Spirit, because we can do nothing without Him. If we follow after these, we shall have a sound faith and may approach God in Spirit and in truth.
I am not dissapointed in bergoglio- he is an apostate and he is just doing what apostates do. I am dissapointed in all these Catholic commentators who have abandoned the virtue of prudence and still believe bergoglio is a valid pope.
Please use "Hispanic," not Latino, Latina, or Latinx. The term Latin America was coined in the 1860s when the French Emperor Napoleon III tried to extend French imperial control over Spanish speaking America.
Pope Francis would not approve of this if he read it. He very busy and doesn’t speak English. He was probably asked by some random aid to write a foreword for it and told that it will be used in American seminary’s. The 2nd edition is sadly used in seminary’s and there is no modern conservative Catholic bible commentary in print so seminaries are stuck with the 2nd and 3rd edition crap. Pope Francis clearly condemned homosexual acts.
Things coming from Pope are his opinion. We are listening to Jesus Christ our Lord His Words Are Far Superior to that of Pope. Pope is supposed to follow what Jesus Christ Instituted and Taught not to change What Established. We believers don't accept new changes in Church we keep traditional of Catholic Church
I was absolutely horrified by how misleading this St. Jerome commentary is. The Pope’s forward gives it a legitimacy across denominations, with lay Christians, that it otherwise wouldn’t have. Soon we’ll see men like Osteen and Rick Warren misleading their thousands of parishioners with this commentary. 💔
1 Corinthians 6:9 9 Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men
I love Pope Francis. Whether these amateur journalists or RUclipsrs like it or not, the commentary is theologically sound. What isn’t theologically sound from a Catholic perspective is James White’s fundamentalist Calvinist view. Absolutely tragic how far right (mostly Americans raised in an evangelical society) continue to try to take over the church.

The fact remains that nowhere -- NOWHERE! -- does Scripture condemn same-sex love and relationships. If Mr. Gomez would actually read what Paul says in Romans 1 about the actual sin of the pagan Romans, which was idolatry and not homosexuality, perhaps he could be saved from going so apoplectic. Pity that Church Milquetoast trots out Protestants to defend their outright lies and to deny the well-established Catholic concept of development of doctrine. Biblical fundamentalism is antithetical to Catholicism, yet that doesn't prevent Church Milquetoast, itself founded upon fraud Michael Voris, from employing fundamentalism and even sedevacantism to advance its illogical arguments. @@KGraceSpeaksKea1335
Yeah, sure.
1- forced resignation of Pope when needed(no plenipotenciary authority)
2- Married priests
3- Communion to divorced and remarried (mortal sin)
4- Ordained women priests and deacons(bishops)
5- homosexual "marriages".
If you are interested, I recommend a very short and well documented book by Julia Meloni: "The St.Gallen Mafia"2021.
Greetings.

If homosexual orientation is ok... why not homicidal orientation?
Great question!
And why is not child sexual abuse acceptable ? And child trafficking ?And drugs and alcohol ? If today all of this is okay and according to God‘s will then why were we told so years and years ago ?

God bless you our lady keep you
God help us .
May the Lord relieve us from this current Pope.
The Lord gave us this Pope. Practice faith, listening, and obedience.
I never thought I'd see a Pope speak, write, teach against the Teachings of Scripture and the Traditions of the One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church and against the Bible. St. Michael defend us!
Father James Altman is right, this Yorge Bergolio is NOT our pope, he is evil.
Sadly Bergolulio's Forward is an "absolute joke". One has to be willfully ignorant of Christian doctrine and secular history for the last 2000 years to entertain Bergolulios' justifications to present homosexuality as an acceptable alternate partnership. This Pontiff revels in tearing down the Truth which is Christ.
He sure does, he must be taken out of the Vatican
One of these days you’ll come to realize you have more in common with the faithful Protestants than you do with the leaders of the Catholic Church, and should you remain faithful to God and His word, then you will inevitably find yourself on the outside looking in at the remnants of what used to be your church
Not quite....the problems are there, but it is still the one Church founded by Jesus Christ, and has the valid sacraments. This chaos will right itself eventually under the influence of the Holy Spirit. Christus vincit, Christus regnat, Christus imperat.
@@bdnl6268 I’d be beating the horse dead if I went on about how-
-Jesus never instituted a Papacy
-He never taught the baptism of infants
-He never taught anyone to pray to anyone but ‘our Father’, in fact necromancy is expressly forbidden in the OT
-Mary the mother of Jesus is barely mentioned in the gospels and is never the object of veneration, prayer, or special place other than being highly blessed, at one point He even ignores his earthly family and says- The ones who do the father’s will are my mother and brothers
But if all that wasn’t enough, the current pope is not even Christian, He specifically targets those who hold on to even a semblance of biblical Christianity all the while praising Heretical priests and bishops
My guess is when Francis releases his postsynodal exhortation he will cite himself in this very foreword and call it “biblical citation.”
For this Bible to have a forward/commentary from Pope Francis, it had to have been worked on and published before the October Synod. Which means all present at the tables are dialoging for show. Everything has already been decided.
It was apparently published in 2022.
Behold, the Parallel Church.
The clergy no longer study the Biblical languages and they don't care. This kind of twisting Scripture has gone on for 50 years.
We are required to give our assent to the previous teaching of the church, why doesn’t this apply to P. Francis?

It says you will go to perdition that what the Bible says.
So basically it's the Synod Edition.
Bingo, also known as the Sodomite Light Edition.
Why isn’t pope Francis required to give his religious assent to the church as we all are?
Protestant considering catholicism but this doesn't help
We are protected from any papal vagaries by the deposit of faith, the Eucharist and scripture. If the pope does not conform to these then he is not acting as pope. He cannot change doctrine and if he does he'll fail. It's a great time to be Catholic. Seriously. But that doesn't mean it is easy

Jesus will deffend HIS CHURCH! Wait and see.
Didn’t Jesus choose the pope?
I hope somebody will be bold enough to tell Pope Francis that he has no authority to change the teachings of Christ and His Apostles and the Church Doctors. The Roman Dogma is our guide! Please. Thank you.
@resty... there were few but removed.

Belive that book off Pope Francis you do so at your peril 😮
He is long gone
If the Church has Catholics accept sin its game on
This is very distressing. Essentially they are saying the Bible is wrong, the past is wrong and Jesus was wrong. If that is the case then how will we ever accept what they say as the truth in the future? I guess at the second coming, Jesus will first need to apologize to Sodom and Gomorra!
It will correct itself before then. Always has, always will right until the end

This is what you get with the exaggerated form of Sola Scriptura, while in fact, we should all acknowledge that the Holy Bible needs interpretation, and 2000 years old Church history has proven that this was not a simple thing. So to ensure that we get the correct interpretation of Scriptures we should focus on the following:
To make sure that we have the correct Bible translation, because this is our foundation, and many heresies derive from a bad translation.
If we follow after these, we shall have a sound faith and may approach God in Spirit and in truth.
wow what is going on??? There is only 1 Bible, 1 True!!!
Yeah, there's a lot of "deconstructive" Theology goin on these days online - it's scandalous Maybe we should use Strong's Commentary instead LOL

Pope Francis would not approve of this if he read it. He very busy and doesn’t speak English. He was probably asked by some random aid to write a foreword for it and told that it will be used in American seminary’s. Heretical prayer: O Mother of Perpetual Help, thou art the dispenser of all the gifts which God grants to us miserable sinners; and for this end He has made thee so powerful, so rich, and so bountiful, in order that thou mayest help us in our misery. Thou art the advocate of the most wretched and abandoned sinners who have recourse to thee: come to my aid, for I recommend myself to thee.
In thy hands I place my eternal salvation, and to thee I entrust my soul. Count me among thy most devoted servants; take me under thy protection, and it is enough for me. For, if thou protect me, I fear nothing; not from my sins, because thou wilt obtain for me the pardon of them; nor from the devils, because thou art more powerful than all hell together; nor even from Jesus, my judge, because by one prayer from thee He will be appeased.
But one thing I fear: that in the hour of temptation I may through negligence fail to have recourse to thee and thus perish miserably. Obtain for me, therefore, the pardon of my sins, love for Jesus, final perseverance, and the grace ever to have recourse to thee, O Mother of Perpetual Help.
This is a legit Roman Catholic prayer, look up "O Mother of Perpetual Help" if you want to know if it’s legit.
This is super heretical. This doctrine of invoking departed saints doesn’t seem just like "hey it’s like praying to a friend.".
