Melee class could be cool, interesting class because of it's style of fighting, as it progresses, it could gain the ability to approach enemies faster and keep the distance closer to enemy by dodging more effectively, through parrying, blocking, great mobility or just tanking hits with great armor, but they just decided give it a ranger weapon and call this "melee"
I love that the arcs that melee class goes through the trash phase, use other class weapons phase, use yours and fails phase, start using ranged melee, defense or attack god
Despite the jokes of constantly running out of ammo, in my 6-7 years of playing Terraria, I've never run out of ammo once. I may run out of the ammo I prefer to use, but then I have stockpiles of secondary or tertiary ammunition that the game keeps chucking at me and I never remove from my inventory
Summoner is the only class where you can build peacefully and not have to change to your weapons every 5 seconds just to kill some random harpy or slime
Summoner is the best class because you dont have to play the game. You can legit just walk around and no enemies will be there to kill, its so easy (except at the start of the game, its pain at that stage)
Fun Fact: Despite dealing Summoner damage, some Whips can be beneficial towards close-range melee users, as Whips such as the *Dark Harvest* boosts Melee Speed upon hitting an enemy; hence dramatically improving the player's overall DPS in their playthrough
I'm a melee/summoner hybrid. (Mostly melee though) Which is great when you can run away and let your minions do with your problems as you heal because face tanking hurts.
there is a summoner armor you can get from the tavern keep for 225 defender medals that you can use all the way up to the pillars, since it has better defense than bettle armor.

I feel like terraria is a game that incentivizes cross-classing. Sure, melee is bad, but nobody ever goes pure melee. I think the only class where people don’t rely on much else when they’re playing it is ranged. Summoner’s weapons and summons are really good for their respective tiers, but you’re useless if there’s a blind spot or your summons are all occupied. Melee has really high DPS, and can focus on many enemies at once, but he takes a lot of damage. Cross-classing into ranged is a good idea, so he can take out the harder enemies that kill him easily. This means he sucks at boss battles though. Magic is decent all around, but doesn’t shine anywhere. It’s heavier on resources than ranger because even with a mana flower you can only carry 30 potions a stack, and has many moments of downtime while you’re waiting for magic to regenerate. Ranger doesn’t have many of these issues, but can only focus on a single enemy at a time and has relatively low armor which means mobility is paramount for him. You can circumvent many of these issues by crossclassing. Summoner can cross-class into magic easily, melee can cross-class into ranged, ranged can crossclass into summoner and magic is good with a yo-yo. Of course all these classes have a single summon slot at minimum, so there’s not much reason to not have a summon ready if u have it.
An amazing pre-hard mode melee is the enchanted sword (or excalibur if your luck is insane), or the star fury you can get by bridging to the sky islands
Svings. It's EXTREMELY scummy to delete comments criticizing your video on sight, especially with how arrogant and confident you come off with some of these takes. If you can't handle people disagreeing with your takes, then your future on RUclips is looking dark. My previous was there for a few minutes or so then suddenly got removed when you were actively reading & replying to comments. "you'll never be pleased even with footage right in front of your eyes." I actively reply to every single comment as I do have notifications on for every single one. Melee is actually a painful class on other platforms...but on mobile, the autolock feature makes it op. You can skip all the bosses and head straight to WoF using a star fury. You literally have to indefinitely run opposite to WoF while spamming the crap out of your sword.
Even in the early game melee has pretty good ranged options, like yoyo or boomerang for quality of life. Later on in the game, that’s when the SWORDS actually start doing cool things and dishing out damage. But of course there’s the ranged melee weapons aswell. Edit: but seriously the yoyo build is crazy, every time I do a play through I have to direct myself away from defaulting to yoyos, they are really good and the progression is fun
I finished Terraria for the first time with two friends (one was Melee, other was Ranged, I was Mage). When we finished for the second time, we decided to randomize our classes. The Ranged friend was now Summoner, the Melee friend was now Mage, and I was now Melee. I died a grand total of two times throughout the entire playthrough because I wasn't used to how high Melee's defense is, especially combined with the fact that you can attack indefinitely with no limitations (ammo, mana potions, etc). On the other hand, my Melee friend, who was now Mage, died ALL the time, and was always out of mana during fights (an issue that didn't happen on our first playthrough when I was the Mage, and in that first game we all had a very balanced number of deaths). He had very poor evading skills, very bad aim, and terrible mana conservation abilities because he had none of those things to worry about when he was Melee before. He'd just spam left click and the game would do the rest. We decided to collect every single grave of him we could find in the second playthrough, and we got a total of 107. Melee is indeed the best class, and, as a downside of that, I don't think they really prepare you to play the game very well when it comes to relying on your own skills. (I don't mean to offend anyone, it's just our thoughts after our collective experiences in the first 200 hours of gameplay we had together)
Actually melee mostly gets its survivability from damage resistance items, which work best in a multiplayer setting where your accessories don't need to be armor focused

With the only difference being that melee weapons are actually good and unique meanwhile ranger weapons suck
I love that the arcs that melee class goes through the trash phase, use other class weapons phase, use yours and fails phase, start using ranged melee, defense or attack god

"Ammunition gone like Timmys parents"
Timmy has parents?!
He does.
The endless musket pouch: "exists" Svings: im gonna pretend i didnt see that.
I absolutely love this video! How come I've never watched it, this is extremely funny and entertaining at the same time
Haha! Thanks! It could definitely be somewhat interesting to watch, but I have no idea how this video got this many views. Insanity :D

I’ve played all classes. I beat Moon Lord with help from one other person as a mage. I beat him solo with Melee. My favorite class is Summoner.
Cool
My favorite class is melee but I don't really like to tank, I like to go for a more offense/defense focused build
I like ranger but i thing mage is the best
I spent like 2 hours or something farming for flinx staff and coat and killed queen slime like 5 times trying to get blade staff.
Agree, i found rod of discord before finch staff some how and if you wonder then yes, i prefer die about like 11 time rather than get finch staff
Fun Fact: Despite dealing Summoner damage, some Whips can be beneficial towards close-range melee users, as Whips such as the *Dark Harvest* boosts Melee Speed upon hitting an enemy; hence dramatically improving the player's overall DPS in their playthrough
Nobody does that though. Too big of a hustle changing weapons every 2 seconds...
As someone who played through the game for my first time and just got zenith, I really felt what you said about not having anything to flex it on
I love that rhyme it reminds me of suffering.
Let's just think that “that” class never existed and we're fine

Indeed :P Thank you!
what class
@Don Shepard ranger?

I'm a melee/summoner hybrid. (Mostly melee though) Which is great when you can run away and let your minions do with your problems as you heal because face tanking hurts.
1:59 This got me laughing so hard xD.
Hah! Glad I made you smile :)
Guy: "you should get this flimsy throwing class"
Billy: *plays calamity's rouge class*
You didn't mention yoyos for melee, I think they make melee pretty good in pre hardmode
there is a summoner armor you can get from the tavern keep for 225 defender medals that you can use all the way up to the pillars, since it has better defense than bettle armor.

@@Svings yes, it all started when i am curious on what is the max defense possible in terraria, so i just searched it up and found videos of about 10 minutes long, which made me bored and i found your video, and got very interested because, i know what all the items do in terraria because of the wiki😂, and i started watching every video you upload, keep up the good work, I'll be watching you till your success! I love everything in your videos and the fact that you go straight to the point and not introducing yourself and explaining every other things about what the items do or where can you get it, again keep up the good work!
You're an amazing person. Thank you so, so much :)
Man the thing about grinding as a mage to get the good stuff feels SO true, at least for me in 1.3 on the Nintendo Switch version
My ranger playthrough:
Pre-hardmode:
musket
Minishark
Star cannon
Hardmode:
Super star shooter
Megashark
Sniper rifle
Vortex Beater
S.D.M.G 🔥🔥
Musket is OP. I can do 100 damage on crit in prehardmode with just fossil armor
Uzi is more op
Because 30 or 34 damage uzi vs 28 damage mega fish
And piercing through 4 enemies vs piercing through NOTHING. Just with norm bullets.
Hard to get due to farming MAD TRAPPERS vs calling big metal suited spine with meat on it a chicken and throwing them to the sun and collecting thier souls combining them with big fish fin and little gun.

Haha, I'm glad you enjoyed it! :P
I started Terraria when 1.3 dropped and with friends, and well I picked up mage and I instantly fell in love with it, after a while I tried ranger. I love both classes, I kinda wanna try melee for the sake of it
One important thing, summoner is worthless in pvp
There were throwing card in some mod, you could make gold ones too and that mod made playing throwing actually fun and reliable.
Svings, one of the best terraria content creators
Awh. Thanksss!

Unnecessary comment is unnecessary...
I like where you were doing range and fighting mobs in ice biome underground and a mob dropped Amork and its a melle yoyo weapon
The only reason i still like the melee class is the vampire knives and terra blade. But my ranking of how fun would go:
-summoner
-ranged
-melee
-mage(I’ve always hated mage)
Why the mage class? Why do you hate it? :P
mana potions are stupidly hard to get, and when you ran out of it mid fight, you'll be as useless as that one photograph of your dad that left you when you're 3 minutes old
@@Svings i just don’t really like how you have to sacrifice an accessory to the mana flower and lots of damage after each potion, and how most youtubers almost always pick mage
@@David_McCoy mage is good, you just need skill to dodge every enemies attack, and knowledge of the game on how each other item works or which is better
@@Name-qk5qr what, mana potions are really easy to get
You just need a little of mushrooms, and there are easy to find
Also, the merchant sells the lesser mana potions and the mage sells bigger mana potions that are fine for the rest of hard mode
And as a mage player, only once I run out of mana potions because I farmed the moon lord without seeing how many potions i had left
Also, mana sickness Is not like something that ruin your play
And if you don't want mana sickness, you can use that item that gives you free mana for being damaged and use an arena setup whit spikes
I like Yo-yo melee. It's like being melee without the setback of being so close you're probably already taking damage to attack anyone
I just hope that the rouge class gets more love and attention.. its honestly a really good class!
My tier list
1. Mage (ye im a wizard who brews potions)
2. Melee
3. Summoner (why i died 90 times)
4. Range (its kinda boring but its ok)
Melee wall of flesh with starfury is pretty easy, just keep your distance and let the stars fall on the eyes/mouth
If you mine/bomb the roofing then yes. Compare it with other classes where it takes no effort...
@@Svings you dont need to bomb the roof, if theres blocks where the stars spawn they will fly trough them
I personally love playing ranger and shredding through the mech bosses in seconds using the onyx blaster
2:39 when Ur dad drink his magic potion
We could agree that we like Timmy suffer
You have no idea how many people don't enjoy it actually :P
An amazing pre-hard mode melee is the enchanted sword (or excalibur if your luck is insane), or the star fury you can get by bridging to the sky islands
Svings. It's EXTREMELY scummy to delete comments criticizing your video on sight, especially with how arrogant and confident you come off with some of these takes. If you can't handle people disagreeing with your takes, then your future on RUclips is looking dark. Hope one day you can reflect upon yourself and consider if it's better to be more open minded, especially since in my opinion you are not as knowledgeable on 1.4's mechanics & meta as you think you are.
I in fact do not delete comments :) As somebody who has such an "amazing RUclips career" you should know what "held for review" comments are. I also have moderators that moderate some comments. But no, we, and neither I, don't delete comments. I honestly couldn't care less with what you think and say, as from your past comments everything you've said is criticism making me come to a conclusion (and acceptance) that you'll never be pleased even with footage right in front of your eyes.
@@Svings From my experience "Held of review" comments are filtered pretty much instantly. My previous was there for a few minutes or so then suddenly got removed when you were actively reading & replying to comments.
"you'll never be pleased even with footage right in front of your eyes."
Your footage is not much when it lacks information and forgets/doesn't take into account SO many things. If we want to talk footage, then go watch my "Can you beat Terraria? April Fools 2021" video and see conclusive evidence that Defense is in fact viable in Master Mode.
I actively reply to every single comment as I do have notifications on for every single one. Since there is a lot of them - they do skip by rather quickly, and I sometimes miss some, not denying that. Don't jump to conclusions and blame others instantly next time - we're all equal here. You're not more special than me, and neither is it the other way around. And maybe we just have a different understanding of what "tanking" means. Whatever the case is, have a good one.
@@Svings Again, doesn't RUclips instantly filter comments, and not wait until it's been up for several minutes with one like and one reply? And even then, what is it that I said in my previous comment that might have triggered something in your channel's list of filtered words?
@@Shyguymask I thought a youtuber of your size wouldn’t pry on a smaller channel, for a couple of your comments being deleted. even a ton of my comments have been deleted after awhile even hearted ones! The defense statement is also pretty true your only gonna take 3 or 4 more hits till you die unless you fully spec into defense. Screenshoted
Melee is actually a painful class on other platforms...but on mobile, the autolock feature makes it op.
You can skip all the bosses and head straight to WoF using a star fury. You literally have to indefinitely run opposite to WoF while spamming the crap out of your sword.
This was funny and quite relatable. You got nice humor xD!
2:34 BRO YOU MADE ME DIE OF LAUGHTER LOLLLLLLLL
Haha :P
Actually melee mostly gets its survivability from damage resistance items, which work best in a multiplayer setting where your accessories don't need to be armor focused
I now want to play Terraria again. Thank you Timmy’s Parent.
