The well at the cult compound, and other wells are tainted water now. The cabin on the other side of lake has a fresh water pump out the front which pumps fresh untainted water after the water shuts off.. Need to build a door on the cabin, but it has a fireplace which provides light and cooking. Also a good spot for fishing and never been bothered by a zombie there. It's also a reasonably short commute by car to the actual compound if you want to take a few days to clear it. @@silverbane8065 For balancing AND realism reasons (wow 2 in 1) the old wells were made to be tainted. @@GamestaMechanic In real life this isn't exactly true, depending on where the well is situated and how deep it was dug. Artesian wells are clean water too because in an artesian well, the pressure inside the aquifer pushes the water to the surface through the rock layer, resulting in further filtration. It was a really foggy day so I got around front and noticed the sign said "2nd Amendment playground" and nearly 💩 Since I am on Builder to check out the new professions, I thought why not try to clear it out. So after many hours, 700 zombies, and eating all of the food in Echo Creek, I got it to a lootable but not cleared point. I was watching your B42 first week series while playing and someone in the comments mentioned "a pretty cool base NW of Muldraugh" so I filled up a box trailer I found with all of my base and all the loot from the gun store (I had bad rng, 4 pistols, 2 long guns, no M16 😢) and headed straight to what I now know is the McCoy Estate. I feel most of these are meant for future professions or npc locations because the cabin and the cult camp seem too far to be reasonable to go live in or just go for loot.
Hydroponics might make the underground bunker more viable, like if it’s somewhere you never wanna leave, it might also be good to make a settlement in the future with actual NPC survivors.
Mccoy Estate is going to be the new best base for a while, perfect faction base, also and underrated gem piece of the build is the islands in the water (if this still works) you could also create a wooden floor highway through the water to that big island bring over maybe your truck or an rv later on and set a mini campground there where you can fish/farm and never get bitten, to secure the island just gotta remove the last tiles that linked it to the island and zeds can only go as far as the wooden floor tiles (at least for now)

One "base" I haven't seen mentioned yet is the "Pole Position", a new strip club just after crossing the bridge from West Point into Valley Station. Besides close proximity to major loot locations, it only has three entrances and no windows, meaning that aside from the darkness post power outage (which could be solved with a generator and a fence to keep zombies out), it's very easy to secure the building. And the interior is actually pretty nice. The Velvet Tassel, the original strip club inside of Louisville actually got a facelift and is now super swanky on the inside too. Not that I'd use it as a base, but I figure I'd point out it's visual update. Besides that, I would also say that Twiggy's and the bar in Muldraugh (can't quite recall the name, the one on the south side of town) got BIG facelifts, and they're now way cooler with string lights and outdoor areas too. They might be a bit of a pain to clear out given their proximity to priority locations, but they'd make for cool bases. The Muldraugh one even has a basement and double-high fences to keep zombies out, and after you build a gate and block some of the windows, it'd make a good base for a group of people.
The Country Paradise is exactly where I am right now and i am LOVING it. I turned the run down shed in the back into my butcher station. And im building a rabbit hutch near the farm fence. Its almost right across from the entrance to the boarding school
7:50 on the other part of the dirt road leading to those mansions if you keep headed straight you'll cross a bridge and eventually find a nice cabin, got one bedroom, one bathroom, massive kitchen, piano room, and a rather large living room. Its also got a nice little shed next to it for you to work in or store things in, and I've noticed very few zombies around it.
Love using country paradise so far as it is virtually in the middle of the map, as well the basement is generously spacious for storage and the outer building for crafting. Plan to soon use my carpenter to build a black smithing house and maybe another barn for the animals I’ve found abandoned.
i started in echo creek but ended up at the farmhouse just north of rosewood. it always had pastures but now in b42 i found cows there so ive just been appreciating the less populated area and playing around with new mechanics
There's a pretty cool place in Muldraugh near the trailer park that's a house that shares a fenced off yard with a convenience store, next to a small farm and chicken coop. For sure needs some work in making it SAFE safe, but it is pretty close to the famous Muldraugh small warehouse and storage lot. Great for the person who wants to be farmer john in the morning and the DOOM slayer by lunch.
Yea, that spot has great potential. I'm not really a fan of the house at the farm, but it's got a bandsaw. The construction site looks like it might be fun to finish up to have a more secure area that a bit more work for zeds to get to.

Gonna try the home in the woods in a vanilla apocalypse run, looks perfect for me, build a little chicken coop, do some fishing, park up at the road, should be good.
The main issue with the boat is that you'd still have to defend an area to park your car, this is 'Murica, you can't successfully survive the apocalypse without wheels Lots of pretty cool places, no doubt, there is also a perfect farm (105, 8950) on the westmost border fully surrounded by tall walls and, well, it's a farm... I found a very nice farm right next to muldraugh, just west of the pizza whirled behind the tree line. Go check it out. It's both hidden and close to the town. It's got rabbits, sheep, pigs and cows so is already loaded.
The boarding school reminds me of Ericson's Boarding School from Telltale's The Walking Dead. and another thing, "Phallus Farm?!" Do NOT let Lime ever pick the names ever again. 😭
My dumbass stumbled upon the mansion (the first featured) not knowing it was a cult house hunted underneath. It looks nice and seems to offer everything you need (I still have not seen the basement lol). I was actually looking forward coming back to it tomorrow and try to set a base. Now that I've seen it from this video, I've changed my mind. I wont be setting camp in a crime scene 😅.
I tried to make the boarding school a cool base, cleaned all the dirt, either fixed the windows or replace them with wooden walls, picked up HUNDREDS of trash piles :/ but you can't clear up any of the graffiti or even if you place wood flooring over cracked floors the cracks remain (same if you paint graffiti or cracked walls) so the base just looks awful no matter what :(
Any PZ Mod makers see this, make a mod that allows players to create a custom spawn point. So anywhere i visit in any of my runs i can set a custom spawn point there for other runs. Or just a mod that lets me pick where to spawn on the map.
I keep fighting myself where I want to base. I want to do a run where I have nothing off the start, have to rely on being a scav to start, then moving off grid and building my own base from ground up, but I can't find anywhere that really suits the build location
Irvington country home has 3 floors, third one is not accessible because ladders do not function. But build a stairs there and there it is, small attic with some boxes of loot. Also I would like to note that the scrapyard has ton of zombies, it had enough of them to chase me away from there when I was on my way to Irvington during start of my B42 run.

Sweet video. I like the revamped school in muldrugh. Makes me feel like I'm basing at my old high-school 😅.
So many great new spots!!
Knox Boarding School @ 3:10 you know somebody is turning that into Hogwarts
Well I started in Ekron and I might as well go there, looking good!
Irvington Country home is 3 storey, has a secret loft room, just cant climb ladder on second floor, build stairs on outside roof :)
I used to pitch a tent by the lake east of muldrough. They built one one of of the base locations on top of where i put my tent. 😅
i never thought there would be a day where i found a property i liked better then the rosewood fd... but McCoy farm... its just so beautiful 😂
I chose the gated house with a well next to the gated community next to doe valley, it had a well, easy loot nearby and is fully fenced in
Sunderland Hills Sanatorium speaks to me as a base idea if you have a good group and don't mind putting the work in.
Hey finally someone found the compound!!!
I still vouch for the muldraugh gated community, pre built tall fences help with easier walling up
Lol the first one is where I'm based 😂. Glad it's getting some love
0:43 This location is called " Neil's Farm " as by the character creation screen map
Based up in the new and improved twiggy's in west point. went from a mediocre base spot to one of my favorites
Cool finds mate.
I found a very nice farm right next to muldraugh, just west of the pizza whirled behind the tree line. Go check it out. It's both hidden and close to the town. It's got rabbits, sheep, pigs and cows so is already loaded.
Zomboid real estate seller coded love it
The historic coal mines of Appalachia was not part of the Wild West. It has its own unique history
Mccoy estate looks so comfy.
McCoy estate looks amazing
The cult compound is called Noel farm i believe the lake is also called Noel lake
boarding school spot has some real telltale twd season 4 vibes
Lime sending people on the long walk to get eaten at the march ridge bunker. This will not be how I died.
holy crap my oshi is back!!!
I wont be setting camp in a crime scene 😅.
boarding school gives so much telltale's twd season 4 vibes😭😭
ive noticed that once i base up thats when i start getting bored so i put it off for as long as possible
I think the ferry and boarding school are references to the 4th season of telltale's twd
i didnt know that coalfield had a blacksmith area!!! if i did i wouldve stayed
in build 41, i cant get my inside lights working other than exit signs. pleasenhelp. which lamps are decorative and which are functional?
do you remember the days before the undead walked the earth? phallus farm remembers
There's already a custom spawn location mod, you can put x/y location in it and it's B42 compatible
It's on the workshop
The school is Ericsons from Telltale TWD
Live Right Now!!!!!

I keep fighting myself where I want to base. I want to do a run where I have nothing off the start, have to rely on being a scav to start, then moving off grid and building my own base from ground up, but I can't find anywhere that really suits the build location
Honestly I really like the gas station at X:8731 Y:14087
can you play build 42 with friends now?
It felt like talking to real estate agent at times, ahaha.
Boarding school has way too many zombies for being an abandoned location,
There isa temp fix mod for basement generators up already on the workshop.
So those bunker dreams are good to go.
I call the cult site Johnstown. A horrific place where 900+ people self zombified. Good base location, but bad memories.
It was Jonestown, after Jim Jones
sooo Awesome 👍
i got so lost and found the coal field 10 out of 10 cause they had a zombie with a monacle and one of those racoon hats .
That's not Fallas Lake tho. The lake is in town, north of the church.
If I had a penny for every ingame body of water people started saying looks like a member, I'd have two pennies.
Which isn't much, but it's odd that It happened twice.
Looking for a third floor building, with roof access
The first place does have a name when i got a key there it said cultist camp
Alright, how many takes did you have to do for the Phallus lake? Cuz there's no way you managed to say it seriously the first time
This abandoned school looks like school from TWD
I think Hermit Cabin (Spigot) coordinates are wrong. Correct ones: (X: 2759, Y: 14081)
Most of coordinates seems wrong...
out of topic...for some reason, i can't boil tainted water in B42, any tips ? or this is bug ?
Turn the oven on first then add the pot of water. Can take up to 4 hours. I got it to usually do it within an hour though.
Also it only works on metal pots of water and saucepans, not woth buckets or other containers
7:07 Brandenburg, not Braydenburg. This is my last name and it’s been a pet peeve my whole life lol
