- This is my third and final Introduction/Review video of the XTool M1 Hybrid Laser Engraving/Cutting/Blade Cutting Machine. I expect to continue to use the machine as time permits and will bring to my audience anything I think is worthy of their time. It's a great machine and system!

Wow what a nice addition to your fun times with wood
😊
Good evening, Phil.
Great job with the demonstrations. Keep in keeping in, my friend.
Thank you, Ray! 😊
That is amazing Phil! This will be wonderful to put your Shady Acres logo on all of your turnings! Thanks for sharing 😊
😊
😂smart Phil 👌 I need one of those engravers. I made my first functional turning on Sunday, Phil. I made a honey dipper and a pestel (peach wood) for the love of my life. She's proud so I'm happy 😊 she wants the mortar and the pot to go with them now.
Cool, better get to it, Archie! 😊
@@PhilAndersonShadyAcresWoodshop (in Yoda voice) Right, you are. Easily made happy, she is. For a long time, Content, I have been. Sacrifice that, I shall not.
Wow thats awesome the way it found the angle of the tags! Very cool
Blew my mind! 😊
Phill, you need to do more of these videos. Yours are the best ones on RUclips, you make it so simple and easy to understand.
Thank you for this! 😊
Omg I'm jealous Phil, absolutely jealous. I need one.
Yes you do, Sue, yes you do! 😊
That laser is very cool Phil!
😊
Fascinating! Thanks, Phil.
Appreciate that, Wally, thanks! 😊
Howdy Phil👋 Nice to see you're keeping busy in the shop
Thanks, Blair! New turning video today! 😊

A great fun machine Phil.
For sure, Jack! 😊
Nice demo Phil, nice tool
😊
Hi Smart Phil!! I just love to watch boys and their new toys. Smart machine Phil! Be happy with this machine. God Bless you Phil.
It's exciting to use, Bob, just wish I had more time with it! 😊
Smart Phil? Well, I have always thought so, buddy. And now there you are proving it. I never had any doubt. That sure looks like a great piece of kit, buddy! Enjoy it! 😅😊
…..Gord
Haha, thank you so much, Gord! Mr. Smarty Pants over here! LOL! I can't wait to use this machine to it's full potential. Just need a few 36 hour days! 😊

Again great info! Cool to watch!
Thanks, Dianne! Cool to use, too! 😊
I knew it would be a fun tool!! Enjoy!!
It IS!, Leona! 😊
What and amazing new tool!
It really is! 😊
Thank you for letting me ride along with you on your discovery trial run with your laxer engraving machine . I will be looking for more to come ; as I like to ride along and discover new and exciting adventures . I have a silhouette CNC machine myself as well as a 3D printer . They give me much satisfaction when I help my friends with decorations .
Ohhh, a CNC, very cool! I'm with you on the 3D printer, too, totally fun! Being able to help your friends out is a big bonus! 😊
Pretty cool tool Phil, I see you are still playing tennis 😁. Thank you for sharing
Thanks, Dan! Haha, it was the left arm before. Now it's my right arm! LOL! Just to balance it all out my left knee is going out and my back is killing me! Heeeheeeee! 😊
Very cool Phil. When you had those gift tags laying there at first I thought...hum...those are not lined up so good. Then when your scattered them around I figured something was up.
That was mind blowing how it lined them all up just right. WOW
I love all this cool stuff and you do a great job of showing it.
I know what you mean about trying to keep ahead on the wood turning.
Great job my friend,
Gary
I know you are a tech aficionado, Gary! 😊 This is the kind of thing you can just set off in a room and let it do it's thing. It is a remarkable machine with all of it's accessories to make life easy. With your design knowledge, you could work wonders with this gizmo! 😊
Thank you Phil. Time will tell. I know I like all these gadgets a lot.
I got so lazy if I need to sign something I stick it under the laser and let it do it for me LOL.
Well almost. But I have wanted to build a guitar for the longest time so I am now engraving a picture of the favorite electric guitar I wanted when I was 15. Now that I can afford it at the 1962 prices it way above my range. They are not made anymore and the old ones are like buying a new car. So I will settle for the engraving.
Gary
🙋♂️🏴 Hi Phil really impressive piece of kit. I was also impressed by your computer skills.
Easy-peasy software, John! 😊
Thanks Phil
😊
I have had my M1 for 3 months. I like it. I love being able to engrave my woodworking and some wood bowls.
Cool, enjoy! 😊
@@PhilAndersonShadyAcresWoodshop you too
Great demo, thanks
Thanks for watching, Roger! 😊
What a great new toy Phil! You're going to have great fun mastering this tool. Love it😃
It is fun to use, David, just need more time for it! 😊
Hi 👋. Phil from Phil, I hope you are keeping safe and well, that’s amazing bit of kit Phil,
PHIL FROM THE DARK SIDE OF THE MOULIN FRANCE
Thank you, Phil! 😊
Your such an inspiration Phil. I have such a hard time with new technology. Thanks.
This one is pretty easy, Carolyn! 😊
Should have used this last week!
😊
Nice presentations on the Xtool M1 10w machine. You convinced us through your prevention to purchase the entire set up! Can’t wait to use it and create great pieces.
Wow, very cool! I think both of you will enjoy it together!
Like getting to play with Christmas toys before 12/25!
Exactly, Valerie! Wait till you see what's next! 😊
The name tag demo was really cool. Smart fill is awesome and extremely handy.
For sure, Ron! 😊
That is an amazing machine and I am so glad you are having so much fun!
It is, Carol, I just wish I had more time to work with it! 😊
I'm really looking forward to your coming adventures with this technique with this new consumer grade machine!
Me too, Kathleen! If only there were more hours in a day! 😊
Nice job on those laser pieces, I really liked the tags and even though you scattered them it worked flawlessly, well done and thanks!
Cheers Al
It amazed me, Al! 😊
Thanks for sharing your experience in a manner that allows others to see if this very cool tool can do what one would want turning bowls. You certainly demonstrated some questions I've had with this product.
Good to know, Shane, thank you! 😊
Great video
Thank you very much! 😊
Such a cool toy
For sure, Luie! 😊
Amazing laser Phil and the Smart Fill is brilliant.
Another great review my friend.
Take care Phil.
Cheers, Huw
Thank you, Huw! It sure surprised me! I can't wait to figure out all this machine can do! 😊
Smart, Phil.😋
LOL! 😊
Nice machine. We have a different brand of laser. We are happy with it, but yours has many more features. I like that you lasered over a finished bowl. Sometimes with ours the burn gets muddy when we burn through the shellac or other products.
I hope to use it for more of that kind of thing, Chris! Just need more time! 😊
Very cool machine Phil ..Dont think i could manage thr I.T side of it ..
I bet you could, Terry. The software is really easy to use. 😊
Thank You Phil....Well with all that cold snow and your new toy I do not see you getting out of that warm house until JUNE, HA!....Very Neat-O tool ... gee I would still want to try printing on something spinning. Yes that would immature, silly, irresponsible, unprofessional...but.... yea I would have to try it, ha... TM
Do you live close to the fire department, Tuffy? LOL! I know you would figure out a way to engrave spinny things. I just love your zest for knowledge and experience, no matter how much carnage you have to create to get it! 😊
Both looks great considering these were your attempt. Really impressive the way it found all the labels.
I think so too! 😊 Thanks, Russ!
Thanks.
😊
Very nice, wish I could afford one. Stephanie will want 7 presents now lol
Hahaha, yes, she probably will, Jane! 😊
@@PhilAndersonShadyAcresWoodshop 😍
If possible, vent your m1 out the window with an inline fan. Have a smoke eater for my glowforge, but he new filters are 200.00+. I'm not sure about the cost for the M1. But they don't last long with a lot of use. Love your videos.
I know what you mean, Joseph. I'm hoping the price will come down. 😊
You know why that one moved don'tcha... because at that exact same moment you said the air wasn't moving them!
Looks like great fun Phil, absolutely amazing tech...who knows how it did that happen n the scattered tiles?! Could you not rub down the superfluous ones or is the engraving too deep?
On the subject of the weather, I am a Brit after all, we have our first thick frost of the year this morning, looks beautiful but I have to go out. Fingers crossed it's gone by nine.🤞💚🙏👍
Haha, you are probably right, Jude! I could sand it for sure and remake. Or, for these very light small pieces I could just turn off the air assist, probably not needed anyway. I hope the frost cleared for you! 😊
@@PhilAndersonShadyAcresWoodshop regarding the frost...through a set of unfortunate circumstances we were fortunate enough to buy our first ev used in September. It has an app which allows you to set it to defrost all its windows and be warm inside when you re ready to drive. After much muttering and wondering if I'd done it I went out to find a toasty car with clear windows. Magic!😄
@@judebrown4103 Wonderful! Nothing like warmth on a cold day!
Is that an old-fashioned cash register? So cool.
Yes, it's about 90 years old and works great, Kathleen! 😃
Like it a lot: Smart Fill meets smart Phil - eh?
LOL! Yup! 😊
Phil that is awesome, I would say Smart Phil.
Does dust make a difference, dust from your shop.
I don't/can't use it in the shop, Ronnie, no room! And waaay too dusty! 😊
Great review Phil 👏! Did they give you the laser to do a review? Take care and GOD BLESS 🙏!
Thank you, Stephen! Yes, all of the equipment was provided by the company in exchange for my review. 😊
Very impressive Phil. The camera is an excellent feature and the smart alignment is scary good. For small parts like that, there is some Traceless Removable Sticky Putty Double-Sided Adhesive Round Putty Multipurpose Tape Nano Gel Mat (there's a mouthful) that you can put on the back of the piece that should hold it in place assuming that the forces aren't too great given that the honeycomb is a difficult surface to which the tape will need to adhere. These systems are addictive, aren't they? I've spent way more time with mine than I had initially thought I would.
That would probably work, Mark. I should have just turned off the air assist and will next time. I don't think it's needed for engraving, mostly just for cutting. Yeah, they are a lot of fun and you find yourself thinking of things to make all the time! 😊
Howdy Phil
Glad to see what that machine can do ....
You can cut wood with that too ?
Make your own tags , make them look like a Xmas ribbon .
the computer puts it in to GE code .... if you can see your post processor.... Look at the format most likely be like a " .nc " .... meaning if you can find the program and double click or " open with " note pad , you can see how long the program is for a 4 minute burn .... most likely a few thousands lines .....
when I do a carving I have to go into the program and edit it ... change some G codes and delete some lines and sometime add some . Because I made my carving machine ... no brand name
It is all so cool .
Yes, Bruce, it can cut through, I think, almost half-inch wood. I wish I had more time to demonstrate all it can do. I didn't even get to the RA 2 Pro accessory, to engrave round things. And I didn't get to the vinyl cutting. More to come after the holidays and I get a little more time, I'm sure. You sound like the kind of guy that could get so much out of this machine! 😊
It doesn't seem like 5 mins since it was a snow day last year!
😊
Excellent review of an excellent laser, Phil. Thank you for getting me in trouble with my wife, as she will most certainly question the charge on the credit card and demand to know why I need such an expensive toy!
Is there a way to make the background of your graphic? If so, it will certainly make placement and alignment a whole lot easier for you!
I'm sure she will understand, Robert! 😊 It's a matter of visual angle. I can't look straight down to get it lined up because the laser head is in the way. I'll learn how much off-set there is and learn to compensate for it. Just need some practice!
Nice video! One question: Can the M1 also be used to engrave ABS plastics, which are often used for device surfaces (e.g. these white power supply units from Apple)?
I just don't know the answer, I'm sorry. I do know many users say not to laser any kind of plastic as they can give off poisonous gases. I think it also depends on how good your fume extraction is and perhaps, how deep you are engraving.
Does it come with it's own software and will it work with Lightburn?
It does have it's own software, Eric and it's pretty easy to use. Lightburn does not yet support this machine, apparently due to the vinyl/blade cutting portion. Maybe they will in the future. 😊
And it’s not even Thursday!!!
But today is and a new turning video is just a few hours away, Kathy! 😊
🙂
😊
I don't do this stuff miss you turning .
I appreciate your comment, Michael and even more, I appreciate that you watch my turning videos, thank you! The thing is, I put out a new turning video every Thursday at 3:00 Pacific time. These review videos are just extra, they take nothing away from my regular stuff. There will be a new turning video in just a few hours, I hope you can watch! 😊
so phill not gary. silly me.
😊
Looks like you got enough for the next 6 years
At least! 😊
