I own the mini clubman since May, the car is fine, it's a blast to drive both in the city and countryside, I love it!
There is a part of me that would love to own a Clubman . . . love the barn doors!
I got mine for under 27,000. Granted, the dealer used it as a demonstrator so it had a couple hundred miles on it. It doesn't have a lot of the bells and whistles the one reviewed here does but does have all the standard features plus a few options that make driving it very enjoyable.
Cute car, the two doors in the back is definitely unique.
Thanks Tom. Enjoyed your review, simple and to the point! I'm looking at getting one here in the UK. Trying to make up my mind between a petrol and diesel version, and of course, staying away from all those options!
by far my favourite reviewer on the web!
One of my favs too
Yeah, but they blamed the TP shortage on COVID when its pretty obvious it was this guy all along. Imagine how much he has hoarded by now! Reviewing cars is just a cover for tax purposes, when he's really a TP scalper.
Loved this car, and listen very closely to your review and take them to heart...
My all time favorite car ever
an outstanding interior of the car
The chunky Minis have really grown on me.
i love mini's!!!!!!! thank you so much!!!!!
I love this car!!!
Where is this neighborhood that he does these reviews? It's so beautiful!
Great vidéo Tom ! Cute car !
I was thinking about taking one for a test drive. My only concerns are I'm 6'3 and I see so many on the used market, is that bad?
That maroon color looks nice
Great Review Tom. Do you happen to know when the redesigned Countryman will come out?
Nope. Sorry.
Anyone know why the Mini was using the lights below the trunk as brake light as opposed to the ones mounted on the trunk doors/where the turn signals are? I know a lot of german cars like Audis and Minis use the bottom lights when the trunk is open. But the trunk was closed when he was driving. Examples at 0:04 and 0:12
Those might be rear fogs that come on with the DRLs. I'm not sure he was braking.
I know the Kia Sportage was doing that for a while too, not sure if the current gen does it. Seems like it would be safer if it was higher, but there's always the CHMSL (Center High Mount Stop Light for those not up on their auto lingo).
Audi SUVs use the bottom lights as brake and hazard lights when the trunk is open because the normal taillights are entirely mounted on the trunk doors. I saw a previous gen Q7 using rear fogs lights as brake lights when the DRL/headlights were off, but used the traditional taillights as brake lights when the headlights are on. Weird quirk
What was the warning chime for? (as demonstrated)
Do I have my seat belt on?
Damn the awesome personality the car has. If only they are more reliable here in the Philippines.
Tom, are the brake lights the ones in the bumper?
Yes
My dream
I like MiNi but can never justify the price premium! I was able to get a 2016 Honda Pilot EXL 4x4 for around the same money as this car
nice
👍👌mini cooper. ..
Having worked in a Euro Premium car repair shop as a desk guy as my first job I saw so many MINIs in there. The build quality isn't there and they fall apart so fast. I can't begin to say how many single moms I saw bring their MINIs in for control arm replacements. I've heard the newer ones aren't better.
That build quality combined with the need for premium gas, the diminished cargo space, not so great fuel economy, and insane price tag would lead me to skip the Clubman and go straight its most natural rival, the Volkswagen Golf Sportwagen. Really the only advantage the Clubman has on it is the available all wheel drive on all trims.
In my experience of owning a MK7 GTI DSG PP SE Four Door, I have had zero issues with it.
Keep in mind the issues I saw working at the shop I worked at were not with the engines or trannies. The heart of all MINIs is strong, it's more the skeleton that is weak. I've never seen cars destroy struts and control arms the way MINIs do.
I only got the DSG because I commute in my GTI and my commute involves a lot of traffic. If I had a lower traffic commute I'd have gotten the manual, but the DSG is freaking awesome. Great when just cruising, even better when being hammered on.
The Golf R you definitely want in a manual though. The DSG isn't as well calibrated for that car except for doing hard launches.
Control arm problems? Haven't heard about them for awhile now. The last main issues with the minis were n14 engine disaster (put on Cooper S 07-early11, JCW -12). Apart of typical thermostat issues all modern cars suffer it's pretty reliable car if you are on top of maintanance.
VW group cars with TSI engines and DSG gearboxes on the other hand are still under the influence of recent reliability disaster perception
No problems with my 2014 Mini cooper turbo.
Why do reviews bang on about how the rear doors need closing in a certain order? Show me how it's possible to not with the barn door style? Just look at any van.
I had an old Chevy van with back doors that could be closed in any order. Just saying.
Where in pakistan
i really like this vehicle but i dont tihnk i can live with it on a daily basis. it really has to be my spring/summer car.
I like Mini and the Clubman but it's a horrible value at $35k for a 3 cylinder with popular options there's everything from the Audi Q3 to the Volvo V60 on the small luxury side and Chevrolet Traverse to Toyota Highlander on the mainstream side. And don't forget Mini's own cheaper Mini Cooper 4dr.
Comparison to the Mini? I would think something from Fiat. For the Clubman, perhaps the Fiat 500X...
But as Tom has said, it's hard to make any comparisons to MINI. And my lame attempt to compare any MINI to anything from Fiat is well... lame.
Well, nice try Billy!
I think the Clubman is comparable to the MB GLA and VW GTi.
Kamaka Chang True, at its pricepoint. I think the GTi is another group that MINI couldn't do. I would only compare the GTi to the Ford Focus ST and Honda Civic Si.
I'd only ever rent one of these, they're too unreliable. That being said they've got quirky style and drive like go carts
I think it depends on how you treat it. I have a 2011 MINI Cooper S with 30,000 miles and have only taken it in once to have something fixed, and it was covered under warranty. As long as you don't abuse it, change the oil, and treat the car with respect it should last okay. That said, I wouldn't buy a used one with 100,000 on the clock. You never know how fastidious the previous owner was.
🤫🤔😵⚰️
the back doors will wear out fast and need repairs
Wish I felt so needy of such a personal statement....Thinking I'm a bit more stylishly practical.
