    This was a great comprehensive video. As a Mini novice, I wasn't familiar with some of the characteristic traits of the car, but I have always been curious about the drivability. I was really impressed by the interior. Thanks for the detailed overview!

      Thank you, MusicHist1. We appreciate your kind words and we're happy you enjoyed the video. The MINI Cooper truly is an attractive and fun to drive vehicle, and with over 10 million ways to customize them (MINI's words, we didn't count them), there should be one to suit you if you're interested. Thank you for your comments and thanks for watching, too!

    Nice Review of a nice car. There's one thing to complain. The Halogen rear lights are a no go on a clubman.

    I looove the rear doors! I want one just like this test model with the bigger engine and don’t they come in AWD?

    Hi Chris, great review. How do your kids feel about the leg room in the back with car seats installed. My Matrix has decent leg room without and with boosters, but suffers with the toddler car seats. Do you feel the cargo area handle a good costco run?
    Much appreciated.

      Hi, Jesse Stewart. First, thank you for the kind words. Unfortunately, the rear seat is still snug for those in car seats, due to the fact that their legs are up higher than those without. And this is an issue with many vehicles, not just the Mini. That being said, this Clubman is definitely better than smaller examples of the car. Hope this helps and thanks for watching!

      Sorry. Forgot to answer your second question, Jesse Stewart. This Clubman's Costco capabilities depends upon how much and how big of stuff you buy. Large TVs will still be a challenge, but a bi- monthly run should work out just fine, especially if you don't need the back seats and can fold them down. It's still a smallish car. Just not as small as other Minis. Thanks, again!

    Hi, I enjoyed the video review of the mini clubman. You mentioned at around 7mins that the engine has a "clatter", what does that mean?

    • @AutoAcademics
      @AutoAcademics  8 лет назад +5

      Many engines have their own distinct traits, Michael Winsor. Some V10s sound like UPS trucks (such as the first Vipers), V8s growl upon hard acceleration (Mustangs and Corvettes), many V6s sound buzzy (the EcoBoost F-150), 4-cylinders are raspy when pushed hard (almost any economy car), and many 3-cylinders have a clatter type of sound during idle, such as the one in the Cooper Clubman we tested. The sound is kind of hard to explain, almost like what diesel engines used to sound like, just softer and lighter. We believe it was most prevalent during cold start ups, but as with each of the other engines mentioned above, it isn't something we'd consider a deal breaker, just an observation. Plus, there's always the Clubman S with the 4-cylinder for those who don't like the 3-. Overall the Clubman we tested was a nice vehicle. We hope this helps and thanks for watching!

      I think it sounds like a typical 3 cylinder. Some guys love that sound. I have a 3 cylinder in my motorcycle and my Mini. I like that. And this engine is impressive. Torque from about 1250 revs up to 4000. And it feels faster than it is. I like that.
      For guys wich aren't interested in Diesels or the S its a pretty good engine with good capabilities and reliability.

    I drove the 2 door hardtop, should I get this one, the countryman or the 4 door hardtop?

      If you want a SUV, go for the Countryman
      If you want a Sedan, go for the Clubman

      In the USA i think the clubman uses Run-flat tires. It doesn't have a spare.

      @@cheekibreeki7058 probably not useful anymore: but as of now, 12/2020, my Mini Clubman from 10/2016 has about 100k km (60k Miles) and no issues at all. Just the standard stuff like oil change and brakes, tires... What you expect.

      It's a single engine, you old ass. Twinpower turbo is BMW's naming convention for the twin scroll turbo. I"m sure you'll think that means twin turbo. It doesn't. And this is just the base non-s, non JCW model. None of them get TWO engines.
