I've lost count of how many times I've watched your video. I find it hypnotic.....I've been practicing and have the first section in my fingers. Another few months to go 🤣
Hi ClydeBuilt - it is a tough one to get through it all and I completely understand your message. You will get there and then , when you have it done, you will move on to something else a few days later, Good luck
Very well played, definitely one of the best versions I ever heard. I'm learning this since 6 months or so and I'm only half way through. But I will continue because it is one of the most beautiful pieces I know. Thank you for sharing!
I am sure the old Bert would have been incredibly proud of this version. By far the best rendition I have heard/seen, with all of Bert’s sophisticated rawness preserved. Thanks a lot for sharing.
I’m late to the party but this version is perfection.. ❤ Hats off Jonathan and thanks for sharing. I’ll get practising and share my own attempt in about ten years.
Johnson, I have watched you play Chambertin easily 100 times now. Every time I see and hear something new. Another 1000 views and I think I'll be ready to take it on......
Hi Clyde, your words make me think it was actually worth the effort - thank you. At the difficult decent at 1 minute try to form a C shape chord through the decent , it will help. Finding the easiest way pays off in my opinion. If you would like tab just through the 1 minute decent section as I do it , I will write it out for you - its the section which throws most so it needs to be acceptable - tell me - be good - Johnson
@@johnsonhogg Thank you, a very kind offer. I'll work on it by watching your fingering, using your tip, at a slower playback speed. If I get really stuck then I may take up your offer. The discipline and the challenge will entertain me for a while. Thanks again Johnson
As below, this is the very best RUclips rendition of this wonderful piece of music. You really capture the spirit of the tune as well as executing it with a wonderful technique. Yes, Bert would have been delighted to hear it played with such panache! Well done sir!
@@johnsonhogg I really love Pierre's versions, he is such a dedicated Jansch player. I find your skills to be incredible sir, and one day I hope to be as good.
Incredible! Yours has to be the best version I’ve seen on video, after Jansch. Well played. I could never get through Chambertin without messing up, haha!
Very kind words Jipes - very nice comment - such a difficult piece this one ( in my opinion ) but glad it is done and dusted - something for me to look back on - take care
Hi Keith - I have listened to this track over the years was so happy that the tablature was in the book - ok I modified it a bit but after nearly a year of not listening to this visdeo ( as it was many months ago when I sent it ) I actually get a kick out of it
Hi Lindsey - thank you so much for your comment, encourages me to want to wander over to the guitar and play the thing - kind of you to comment - take care Lindsey, Johnson
Hi Gary - very kind of you to watch it and very kind of you to comment - looking back at this one I remember how tough it was to get through it without too many mistakes - but its done now and although I had so much pleasure trying to learn it I am very happy it is done and I am allowed to move on from it - take care and thank you
Awesome. I watched Bert play Chambertin at Glasgow City hall on 18 th Nov 1974 and he fluffed more notes than you. That became 'The River Sessions' album. He said he didn't play it often becayuse it was so difficult. Bravo... many times over. That was fantabulous. WOW! I also like the Sean Siegfried version. check it out. Thank you VERY VERY much for this.
Hi Allan - thank you for your kind words - yes I have watched Seans video and he does a really nice of the piece - takes a bit of stamina this one, but there again I think most of Berts pieces do - take take and thanks again
An amazing version of a beautiful piece.
Thanks very much Dave

Accidentally found this again! A dream! Hypnotic, addicted, beautifully done. Perfect. Do listen to Sean Siegfreid's version also.
The same here! It is very hypnotic and there's everything in it - can even hear the sounds of the slides, just like on Bert's River sessions album.
Amazing. Johnson has his own YT channel, definitely worth checking out.
