- Get Fresh was a children's television programme that ran from 1986 to 1988 in the United Kingdom.
Broadcast on the Children's ITV network, the show starred Gareth Jones (aka Gaz Top), Charlotte Hindle, and, for the first year of its run, Gian Sammarco, the British child actor best known for his portrayal of the character 'Adrian Mole'. Sammarco was replaced for the 2nd and 3rd series by a puppet named Gilbert the Alien (voiced by Phil Cornwell). Each week the series would be broadcast from a different location and centred around the Millennium Dustbin, a fictional space ship in which the presenters would travel the country.[1] The show featured the animated series The Centurions and The Adventures of the Galaxy Rangers.[2] Развлечения
Frank Sidebottom is now immortalised as a statue here in Timperley.
You know he is, he really is.
I was a teenager at the time and loved Gilbert and the anarchy of the show, essential Saturday viewing!
Childrens presenters and puppets come and go but I cant believe the world carried on without Gilbert. But to sum up the fickle world of showbiz , he was in a prog with Roland Rat (and where is HE now!) & they talked gibberish & tried to outdo each other.
Frank Sidebottom and Gilbert on kids tele. That was a good time to be young
"Skin up"? Naughty Gilbert.
I remember Gilbert doing an impression of Dot Cotton ("Ooh, me nerves!") great laugh 😆
Gilbert the god of Saturday tv 😂
Boy, talk about a nostagia rush, I haven't seen this in about 35 years. My sister was a brosette.
Get Fresh was the best! I used to get rising anxiety as a kid watching it, it was so chaotic and intense. Anarchy!
The last best Saturday morning kids show, in my opinion, anyway. Motormouth never did it for me.
Gilbert was the best. Absolute crack up and was doing weird non-sequitur stuff a full decade before it became 'the norm'.
"My husband and I would now like to turn into an eggplant." Gilbert once said impersonating the queen and apropos of absolutely nothing =D
Amazing I thought I'd watched all of Gilberts RUclips clips......and now I watch this. I remember watching get fresh with a regular hangover Great Days. Cheers.
WickerAndroid You're welcome. I have other stuff too which I'll upload some time. :)
Charlotte hinndle on Saturday morning TV show get fresh so beautiful
I only watched Get Fresh for Centurions & Galaxy Rangers.
From Series 3 Episode 7, TX 30th May 1988. Broadcast from -the London Road Playing Fields in Stranraer (home to Wigtownshire RFC rugby union club), venue of the Galloway Games that year- Agnew Park in Stranraer. Produced for Children's ITV by Border Television.
It was actually filmed at Agnew Park because I'm from Stranraer and I was there as a 3 year old sitting in a buggy :)
@@theaaroncarruthers Thanks for the correction. 😀
Gilbert is now Murdoc Niccals as I’m sure everyone knows😂💚
Brilliant! I never realised at the time that Cornwell has to be on the sauce at least, I was only about 8 of course.
12:59 I wonder why is the clip sped up a bit at the end? did it really happen on air just to avoid long cues and patience for the Border TV endcap to show up or was it edited by yourself?
Gilbert literally traumatized those girls! No wonder I found him hilarious as a kid, he was a maniac.
Is he saying “Skin up” in the background???
Yes he is.
I am looking for the episode from kelso in 1988
Bloody brick of a phone 😂😂😂
I remember this show growing up that and another was going live before it became live and kicking
but the most legendary episode of going live was a caller phoning in and called 5 star a fake.
I do believe the actual words were "I'd like to ask 5 Star why THEY'RE SO F**KING CRAP?"
@@greedobob 🤣
Daughter of Lily from Nearest and Dearest...
This is great! Phil Cornwell as Gilbert is just sublime & Jees the mobile phone, 'that's' a mobile phone alright!! The Art of Noise is the music i think! Thanks for this Spilage. (I wonder if Swap Shop, CrackerJack & Tiswas is now online).
+Ruple Thaker Oh wow I did not know that Phil Cornwell was Gilbert the Alien! That's made me smile :) Big Alan Partridge fan :)
He is more uglier then I remember. He is so homelyyy....
Theme tune was by Mick Jones of Big Audio Dynamite (and The Clash).
Also have to give puppeteer John Eccleston kudos for keeping up with Phil Cornwell! 👾
@@Scripture-Man That's good! (Check out Stella Street also).
Dont suppose anyone has the episode filmed at gateshead metrocentre?
has anyone got the theme tune to this
Gilbert's not even in the driving seat 😏
He's pretending it's an English car, where our driver side is on the right.
@@Spillage66 ok🤨
I'm sure Adrian Mole was a presenter on here for a while?...
On a Sunday morning.
