No matter what style she sings, she has a lot of power in her voice. I'm not surprised to see her really belt it out with these guys while maintaining vocal composure. Many other female vocalists would try to over-sing in this situation, but Gaga doesn't need to.
Watching the performance, I was thinking "this is what a female James would sound like". But also, she seemed to be guiding *his* vocals. Like he, the voice of Metallica, was watching her for vocal cues

What I can say as someone, who doesn't like her music. In this video, I liked her voice, cause it didn't came across overproduced /filtered what I expect from her albums or what I've heard when I get tortured by radio station. She seems to have a great voice. Too bad I don't like her pop music. Seems like her voice would work wonderful with hard rock, metal and other stuff

I can say I have more respect for Lady Gaga after watching this again. Instead of listening to the music, I listened to what she said. She repeatedly asked James and Lars for advice and direction on what to do, and what they thought. This was a classy gesture, and it shows that she not only has respect for their opinions but also that given her own fame, her ego is not as big as the fame either. Metallica is my favorite band, and it is nice to see a very talented pop artist that has a level head when looking at a very talented metal band and she recognizes respect for them and their musical vision. Well done Lady Gaga, you are a real person with a brain (and a nice butt).
I agree that’s awesome that she asks for their advice and doesn’t have an ego problem. That does show class and I have utmost respect for that. Love Metallica.

For james and lars, the bass should be just barely audible bc if its loud like in other bands like say Rush, the guitar starts to take a backseat in theit egotistical minds. Really the bass is there to make the sound more full. Add some weight to it, which is why their first 4 albums sound like empty weak pieces of crap. Still could barely hear cliff on his 3 albums unless he was soloing.

I met James and Jason newsted many years ago on a cold November night in Toronto. I was star struck. They both signed my concert ticket and I was speechless. This was long before cell phones had camera and still to this day every tie I see James play I still can't believe I shook the mans hand!! The nicest coolest dude he was too!!

Lady Gaga has been a fan of Metallica since forever, she's not just another dumb pop star, she's really creative and can sing and play several instruments. She's known for being versatile! She's not just Poker Face or Bad Romance she's much more!
Exactly. Her Pop success was merely the helium for her balloon-like ascension into fame. But she got her start in jazz-metal-punk bars, and she was a stripper/go-go dancer to help pay the bills. That has been prevalent in most of her work since The Fame/ Fame Monster era(s).
Most of these metal heads commenting seem scared to relinquish deluded expectations that metal bands and musicians can’t change. Lady Gaga is known as the Chameleon because of her broad range of creative skills and instincts, so that probably terrifies them.
