Will: *making a folding knife in the most practical, functional way

Alec: "Here's my design for the forge door with a pulley system, electric motors and a foot control"
That filing on the liners is INCREDIBLE
You might want to look up "Laguiole" knifes. They are french pocket knifes that are considered to be a gentlemans knife that have - depending on pricetag - filing like this, at times even more detailed and mindblowing. I bought one recently when I went to Paris, and it's a beauty.
When Will was introduced to the channel I didn't know if i would like him or not, being a long time fan of Alec wasn't sure how he would measure up. However he has become a great addition to the show bringing some top notch talent, a good personality and sense of humor. I really enjoy watching his solo segments, but also Alec and Will playing off each other for comedic relief. Keep up the great content guys!
Am I the only person who wishes for more videos of Will’s incredible work?! Wish he could have a weekly video honestly
Yup, i cant get enough of will
Definitely follow him on Instagram! I fully agree as well
Seth Gremmert already do but great suggestion mate👍
Well this was almost a full week of Will's work, but I do agree! We need more Will doing beatiful stuff that he's really good at and not just finishing Alec's stuff for him.
yup
It's nice to see such an impressive tool (and work of art) be made, with absolutely no megalomania going on. Your guys' great attitude and work ethic keep me coming back as much as your projects themselves.
Really love that this channel has become a collaborative journey. I'm sure it was probably scary moving out to Montana and opening up a shop together. And introducing Will to an already established audience. But you guys mesh so well on camera, and your personalities not only complement each other, but are different enough that I REALLY enjoy videos where it's just one of you ,and REALLY enjoy when it's both of you. It's a great channel dynamic. Hope one of these days the channel gets renamed to Steele and Stelter. Great content, keep up the great work. And congrats on selling out the shop so quickly.
Heat blued demascus looks amaaaaaazing!!! Great job Will! Stunning work
I absolutely cannot wait for the next “headcheese” video your videos are absolutely next level in terms of quality of video alongside topic as well you could make paint drying interesting man love to see you comment on other channels❤️❤️😂

Beautiful job Will. Really love the Damascus.

Dude, I was laughing my ass off when I read that.
Editor's notes! We all love Jamie
Lol, "this is precisely why you have no thumbs" 😂
Will must've made that knife for someone else. Otherwise, I don't know why he put a thumb stud on it.
That cracked me up :D
Bwahawhaw!!!!🤣😂🤣👍
Ay. Best comment.
i dont get it
@@menofwar-os1wi neither did I
So you guys are gonna make a foldable hammer right?
Lawn Mower Productions haha
Dang, that’s a beautiful knife!
Wow, there is hope for the future when people take pride in their work. Thank you guys.
Wow, you went for a liner lock instead of a simple friction folder. Very cool! It came out awesome!
That crooked starburst blade pattern made me almost cry. It's so beautiful and fits with the rest of the finish and the ivory. Truly beatiful.
Folding knives are cool.
BUT A FOLDING SCYTHE WOULD BE BETTER!
I like your reasoning...
Switchblade scythe.
I like where this is going ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
like the bloodbourne cleaver but scythe i like!

im actually from frenchtown and Joshes daughter and my little sister goes to school together. I also wouldnt be surprised if he knew some of my family. My family are the richardson's and most people in frenchtown knows them.
I know this is late, but I love the proud look on Will’s face when Alec is reviewing it
And it’s well deserved, that is an absolutely insane piece of craftsmanship! 🙌
This turned out beautifully! Really gave me throw back vibes to when Alec made his first folding knife. These newer videos sometimes miss the fun of you explaining through how to make these things! :)
I love that Damascus pattern. I wish I had the money to buy this knife off of you.
I doubt he'd sell it! At least until he made a better one (if that's possible!). For me, this is the first of their creations that I actually *covet* rather than "Oh, that looks pretty darn good!"
Here in Brazil we call that type of kneif: Canivete. My grampa, make one of those and now is mine, its have 40 yrs of use. This really bringe me a Lot of Memories. Sorry for the poor english btw.
You're among friends, no worries, howdy 👍🙂
WAY TO GO ON THAT PATTERN WILL! IT IS SOOOOOOOO BEAUTIFUL!
Ultra pro! Beautiful knife, Will.
that is probably the best looking knife you've made in awhile will.
This is my favourite knife, that I have seen made in 2019 and I have seen alot of knives made. Very well done.
What is pfp
@@hannable3871 Dudes a troll, don't bother. I agree, this knife is stunning.
Its magnificent. It looks 100 years old and brand new at the same time. Will done well (and Well done Will)
my favorite knife that I saw made in 2019 was a 13 inch 5160 kukri that happened to be made by me and I keep it with me at all times when it is legal to do so XD
As a heavy knife enthusiast/collector...that knife makes me feel tingly inside. You can see how smooth that is, it looks gorgeous. Will, that is stunning, and it may be my favorite thing I've seen on this channel so far.
Wow , what a beautiful knife! That Damascus is amazing and the finish holy cow! Great job Will.
This isn't forge doors part 2!
Marvin Murphy LMAO
It IS a pretty complex setup.
LOL!!
It is gorgeous though..
Thank God you posted that. I was confused until I read your comment.
@Marvin Murphy came to the comment section just for this!! UP!
"No Mammoths were harmed in the making of this knife"...
Yes they were. Lol
R/whoosh
I'm just completely blown away by this piece. The Damascus pattern, the coloration, the mammoth ivory and filing all come together to make such an unbelievably lovely instrument!. When you guys put it all together in collaborations the results are just spectacular! I feel for the editing because there was so much going on to try and capture all of that in a way that we could follow as viewers.
Will in his element. A fun combination of unbridled excitement and deep focus. Of course, video editing for capturing the atmosphere.
I'm loving the Kershaw, Leak as a reference tool for the video. I've had one of those in my pocket for almost 20 years. It's a great pocket knife!
Wow a finished knife in one episode 😍
Philip Holm The hell you say! Haha
Really cool to see Will do a solo project. That thing is stunning!
Gotta say, this might be my favorite blade on the channel so far. The damascus pattern and heat coloring are beyond stellar.
This is absolutely gorgeous. It's really incredible.
Hey Alec, How many Damascus Steel patterns can you design on one billet??
I want this!
I want this!
multibar damascus is a thing
@@katsmokish388 I don't get you but I meant that like explosive pattern, twist pattern, how many as such he can fit in a billet? What he makes out of it is his choice too. I hope it is what you said :)
Kotabhi
there would be sharp changing as you went from one pattern to another which wouldn't flow very well, i'd think. there isn't really a way to get them to taper/fade from one pattern into another, it would be a hard sharp border between one pattern and the next. unless i'm misunderstanding you somehow?
Gentlemen, out of all of the items you both have made (that I have seen, and I have not watched all of your videos), this is my absolute favorite! Great job Will, you continue to show your amazing workmanship! Keep up the great work gentlemen!
1.) A folding knife is a tool.
2.) Will, you have a beautiful tool.
Blue!, the Dykem is blue! I can hear the song,
OMG 😳 that’s incredibly beautiful
Wowwweee Will. You REALLY played a blinder with this piece. It is absolutely stunning. Well done. Your attention to detail is phenomenal.
Omg the combination of the heat coloring and the damascus looks absolutely stunning! Beautiful piece!
Wait wait wait...you missed an opportunity to give into temptation and use Red Dykem!

Absolutely beautiful folder Will. The blued damascus is just sick. My poor little CRKT folder is jealous. The action looks and sounds buttery smooth. Wish I had a folder of that quality and beauty. Have an amazing day guys.
Absolutely GORGEOUS foldy stabby thing. Fantastic job Will!!

Yeah s03 ep5 the kora sword and then again in s04 ep1 the ida

Will have to watch that thanks for letting me know
This is, hands down, one of the most beautiful knives I've seen. Period. Phenomenal work Will. Your craftsmanship always shines through.
The heat coloring on the blade, bolsters, and back bar are absolutely stunning. Phenomenal work Will. I love getting to see you both learn things and then mold them into your own styles as time goes on like Alec and his jewelry and engraving work. I hope to see Will use the canister technique he learned, and the heat coloring in the future.
Heeeeyyy, wait a minute. Mammoth ivory? Aren't mammoths an endangered species? Shame on you Will!
They are the ones that left parts of themselves all over the place, he is just cleaning up the mess they left.
Bronx Cheer Endangered? They're extinct! This is fossilized ivory.
Zzzooooooom! (Where's the "that one went over your head" emoji?)
Those cavemen and their damn SUVs.
@@chiefof Actually, to prevent elephant ivory poaching coverups, mammoths ARE listed as a protected/endangered species. Even though they've been dead for all of recorded history.
@alecsteele can you make some copper mokume gane candy canes?
Another knife from Will that is as much a work of art, as it is practical! Beautiful!
Great job Will! That knife is a work of art!
Beautiful knife. That mammoth tusk is awesome. Josh has some great techniques.
Will looks at Alec the way baby Yoda looks at the Mandalorian 😂
LOL!, Ill never look at Will the same way again!
Wow what a gorgeous piece, no surprise there after seeing many of Will's chef's knives, etc... Congrats on Will for making and finishing his first folder, definitely a lot of detail work that can be overwhelming for some. I remember when Alec made his first and only folder. Thanks to Josh Smith for helping him along, the craftsmen community is a good one and most love to pass their knowledge along.
I do love watching you and Alec work together on a large project or any project. (You both have a Phenomenal energy and nothing short of a Genius) BUTTtTT I do really enjoy seeing will get in his Zone. Huge fan
The timing of the notification when I touched my screen welp now that I’m here guess I’ll watch this

Will you have very good taste in knives. That is gorgeous!!! Never stop marking stuff!
That blade has the prettiest Damascus pattern I've seen, and it complements the rest of the knife perfectly. Excellent work of art. Well done, Will!
Been a while since you did a sword project. Folders are nice, and all, but I am keen for another big boi

Absolutely STUNNING!!! Well done Will!!! Dare I say, it is a FANTASTIC knife!!!
That Damascus pattern looks incredible! I personally have never seen such a unique pattern like when someone says Damascus you'd expect maybe a few waves or zigzags maybe some "x"s but wow you really pulled it off with what id presume to look like a "sun" in the pattern! looks really clean, definitely something id add to my collection if ever I had the opportunity!
