A PL-516 was my first turntable in the early eighties. Changed the cartridge it was coming with - which was a Excel MM - for a Shure M95HE that was on a discount by that time. Used it with a Yamaha CA-V2 amp and Pioneer Monitor 10 headphones. I clearly remember how i was just overwhelmend by the sound while listening to Pink Floyds Dark Side of the Moon album the first time in proper HIFI.
I have the Pl-516! A brilliantly made turntable just performs really well! Mine has the same issue with the veneer bubbling like that maybe one day I’ll replace it as I’ve seen people who’ve done it online and it looks really good
Hi, I have the exact same turntable, with the speed adjust problem you described. It is really touchy. Can you say more about how you "de-oxed" the control?

Heavy duty turntable, these are built to last forever! I have 2 PL-518
I just got a PL-41 yesterday. It's the first one I've had. The thing is a beast! It rivals my Sansui 4050 on size and weight!
@@kappandrew1 I never had one but by what I see online, it looks like a solid turntable
My Pioneer 518 stills plays well . Have another serviced with perfect lid.
