As for why they do some lyrics in English/Japanese, I believe that Taka said (and I think the whole band in general) he wants to be big/spread their music in the US/Internationally, and English is a generally more recognized language than Japanese. They've released a lot of their songs in both Japanese and English versions, so with songs like 'We Are' you often see them swapping between the English and Japanese lyrics mid song.
I'm not sure which interview it was, but Taka mentioned that the band aims to go beyond Japan. To be able to achieve that, English songs were necessary for the international community to notice them. Personally, I love their japanese songs too. there's that unique charm in japanese songs.
Their acoustic version is good as well. Heartache,Taking off studio jam session so nice! Check them. Good goodbye from 35xxxv Japan Tour is beautiful . This is live version but only with Taka’s voice and acoustic guitar.
I'm not sure if someone told you already but, One Ok Rock wants a lot more people to listen to their music or wants other Nationality to listen to Jrock/ Jpop in general, a global recognition to Japanese music, so they mixes English to their songs. Now a lot more people loves their songs and was taking more notice to other artists too. 😊

The US singer that I can think on top of my head that sound closest to Taka here is prop Jared Leto from 30 Seconds to Mars other than him I'm not sure. They are of course different, but both are singing in a fairly high register, have a lot of emotion in their voice and sings with great power.
