I've been to the Kalahari in the Dells. Took my 8 year old granddaughter and my 19 year old daughter and my wife. We all had a phenomenal time. I got a special that included Tom Fooleries for $250. My wife doesn't swim but she still absolutely loved the vibe. Castawaybay definitely seems geared towards the younger ones but that would be awesome to get into Cedar Point early and its closer. Both seem to have it's benefits.
Thank you for this! I just booked our family’s Christmas present trip to Castaway Bag because of your review! I would have glanced right over this option if it wasn’t for you guys! I am so thankful for the nicer price tag and I think my 10, 8 and 6 year old will have a ton of fun!
I left the comment before about Kalahari and I just got back from Castaway Bay. First thing is it is wayyyyyy smaller than Kalahari. The smaller park was enjoyable, but you get really spoiled with Kalahari. Also, Kalahari did have a more upscale Disney like feel to it. The hallways and rooms had a more refined feel. We arrived late and had to park over by the slides and the Cedar Point work trucks and I liked it way better, it felt safer for some weird reason, like if people were looking for stuff to steal in the lot they wouldn't even go over there. I do this thing only when we travel, I have a magnetic gps dome and 4 small magnetic antennas I put on my black SUV with tinted windows and it makes it look like a police truck. I do it because people tend to drive way better around you on the interstate and when parked I would think people would stay away from it, it does have visible cameras, anyway lol. Castaway Bay was absolutely beautiful at night and we walked out on the Boardwalk the first night and took some great pics. Our room was almost directly across from the water park, that was great. We were doing a weekend so the next day we left Cedar Point and went back to the water park for the rest of the evening. The hot tub was great. The bucket fall jungle gym was fun, some parts were closed though. The wave pool was ok, but small and the waves were mediocre. The room TV was great, basic cable type selections way better than Kalahari. The room set up was a little weird, they placed the very large mirror down the wall from the rest room so the light from the bathroom shinned right to the other bed. Also the person sitting in the bed could see the person dressing in the bathroom. The alarm clock went off at like 6:00 AM, not set by us, lol. I was wondering if anyone knows what the abandoned indoor pool building was at the end of the boardwalk was, it was kinda creepy cool looking in the windows? The SUV was of course way closer than Kalahari and the line to Starbucks was way shorter and easier to go to. Strange there was no coffee maker in our room, not sure if that is with all the rooms. If you have little ones, the shows seemed fun, we did the arcade. The arcade had huge large games and was fun, but I'm not really a game player. We bowled and that was fun, but it's a smaller version of bowling so it's a little different. I really wish the water park would stay open until 11 or 12:00 PM so you could boogie back from the park and swim. Everyone was great and there were always 2-3 employees at the front desk just waiting for you to need something. Castaway Bay seemed like a motel with a pretty cool water park, Kalahari seemed like a large resort.
Unfortunately it’s been a really long time since we have been to Great Wolf Lodge, so we will have to visit there soon. But previously it was smaller in size like Castaway Bay with a Lodge theme. We will add Great Wolf Lodge to the list of places to visit in 2023. Thank you for watching!
Awesome videos! Sandusky Bay is an incredibly scenic place. I try to get there at least once a year to watch trains on the Norfolk Southern mainline. Have a good weekend!
Thanks .. I really wanted to know what would be best for my 2y and 4y old. Kalahari might be too overwhelming for 4y, he gets frustrated easily. Castaway Bay it is !
I'd love to visit Kalahari sometime soon. I can't really compare the two, but I definitely found the food and drink options at Kalahari lacking. I enjoyed the water park, but an actual bar with fresh drinks would make the experience much better. I wanted a tropical drink to the compliment the tropical atmosphere.
We haven't done castaway bay, but we were pretty disappointed by kalahari. I don't think there was as much to do in the water park as we expected, and it was just all chaos. I will say, the Grest Wolf in Sandusky has been one of our favorites. Nice slides, it's never too busy, and the service is really great. Also a decent location. Definitely think we will put castaway on our list for this summer after your discussions here though, great video.
I just stayed at the Kalahari last week and we are staying at Castaway Bay in a few weeks, never been. I can say a few things about Kalahari though, good and bad if you don't mind. I really liked the ease of swimming inside and outside so conveniently. We swam a lot in the shallow outside pool. The Zoo was worth it and yes we paid $100 dollars for the bucket and it was worth the cost. The animals were really interested in the treats. Going back to the room for adult drinks was great, I never once paid for a drink out. The room was okay clean, not spotless. The trash can in the bathroom was super small and irritated me for some reason. The TV selection was terrible, of course any movie was extra and just to play music was extra. The channels were so bad I later thought I could of brought my Alexa and got her on the free wifi for my own TV. We parked our SUV out in the lot because we had so much stuff there was no way we could of parked by the door. They have carts, but you cannot go across the bridge with them because of the stairs and it was super long three trips down the drive where cars were driving to get everything in the room and any trips to the truck was a Long Walk. Also, the decorative wavy interior walkway would shake your stuff off the cart, but if you can, you can stay to the right and it's smoother. The food was good at the B-Lux Grill, those shakes were surprisingly cheap, but were a lot of whip cream. There was a dance competition going on and it was kinda neat to see all the girls dressed up. I thought it was a little higher priced but where are you gonna not pay crazy amounts in this economy. Really excited about Castaway Bay and seriously probably will not go back to Kalahari ever, or at least for a long time, last time I was at Kalahari was 17 years ago. Left Kalahari and stayed at the Deluxe Cabins at Lighthouse Point I can talk about that on another video, it was pretty good.
Thank you for sharing your experience at Kalahari! We are super curious to see how your Kalahari visit compares to Castaway Bay. Each have pros and cons but we love to hear about everyone else’s experiences. Thank you so much for sharing 💕
It depends on how much time your family will want to spend in the waterpark. If you think they will only want to swim for a couple hours and then do the other activities for the rest of the time, then one night is enough. But if they want to stay in the waterpark for hours on end, then you would want to do at least two nights so they can experience the other activities too. With 5 kids, two nights will give you more flexibility to make sure everyone gets to do what they want. I hope this helps and thanks for watching!
Kalahari is not accommodating to people with eye problems or blindness and will not let you wear goggles on the slides. Let's hope they change that rule. On the plus side, their mango dragon mojitos are tasty.

We would love to go to the one in the Dells! You are right…Both really do have their benefits. 😊

Great advice! Where would you say Great Wolf Lodge would fall in this comparison?

The great Wolf in Sandusky is very small and basic. Its cheaper than other GWL for a reason. There's much better slides at Castaway bay.

Thank you very much! It really is beautiful
We enjoy Castaway Bay during the entire season of CP as we enjoy eating at Cp and our grandchildren can enjoy CP and all it had to offeras
That is so great 😊 thank you for watching

We hope you have a great trip!
V just said last night that she misses Ana. We can't wait to see you guys again soon!
Ana misses her too! We need to get the girls together soon.

We agree… a fresh tropical drink would have made a huge difference!!
I’ve been to both of these

Thank you! We hope to visit great wolf lodge sometime in the future. We are very curious how it will compare.
What season did you go?
Castaway Bay is better than the Great Wolf in Sandusky. Cheaper too

Thanks for the review am taking my granddaughter today for her birthday she is turning 4 we are going to castaway Bay
We hope you have a great time at Castaway Bay! Thank you for watching our video 😊
I just got back from Castaway bay and the workers are so rude and the food is very dry I don’t recommended it but people have different opinions
I like castaway bay and Kalahari
We are considering going to Castaway Bay for the first time with 5 kids would one night be enough or would you recommend at least a 2 night stay?
It depends on how much time your family will want to spend in the waterpark. @@Alongfortheridetv that definitely helped!!! Thank you so much for your reply!!

Oh wow…Hopefully they do change that! If we ever find ourselves back at Kalahari we will take that suggestion.. it sounds scrumptious!
@@Alongfortheridetv I hope so too. Definitely try it, it's like a slushy drink.
