This was sooo helpful! I am also a wheelchair user. My husband and I are going on our first solo vacation and I’ve been going back and forth about the key. I will be purchasing. Thanks again!
I'm so glad that you advocated for yourself to get the benefits you paid for (getting on the ship early). It's really good to know that you were able to still get the service, without having to be indirectly penalized/discriminated against for needing to use an ambulatory device. There are so many travel creators out there, but I really appreciate that you share what accessibility options are available while traveling. Thank you so much!
I am Diamond Plus and have been on over 60 cruises with Royal and you both are the first ones I have ever listened to. Lots of really good stuff and I have subscribed.
I caught it going on that day too and bought it for two cruises. I'm pretty sure there was a 35% discount, and someone just entered the full price at the discount rate.... then the discount was taken again. The price was lower than internet only for less than a day
Can confirm, every person in the cabin has to buy, I did the math and the price difference for my wife and I it was only $8 a day more for The Key then just the internet. Great video!
Great video and I totally agree with your comments about the key. After watching many videos about The Key, most suggested it was not worthwhile. I would have agreed with that, until I saw the price drop to $17.99/pp/per day (orig.price was $41.99/pp/per day on my Allure sailing, so this was a HUGE drop). I had originally bought Voom Stream and Surf for just me, but when I saw The Key price drop on a holiday weekend to almost the price of just Voom package, I quickly canceled my original purchase and snatched up The Key so both myself and my husband had WIFI access. Embarkation was so easy and lunch was wonderful, as was disembarkation. We were quite frugal in terms of our cruise - inside cabin, no bev.package, etc. So, the Key was a splurge for us - and was well worth it at that price point. So, I would advise people to review prices for their sail from time to time, especially during holidays. The Key made us feel like we were special - almost like we had some sort of status!
Great advice! Got to keep checking those prices and grab a deal. That is what happened the first time we got The Key. Thanks for the comment and the watch!
Thank you so much! I was just thinking I need to find someone with a wheelchair perspective and there you were! Great video. Helped me say yes to the key for ease and well, internet! Oh and beard 👍
we have just purcashed the key for our march cruise on quantum of the seas, it is oiur first royal caribeean cruiuse so were very excited and hope we have spent wisely :) it cost us $709 aus dollars to purchase it for the 3 of us. i was watching the price and it kept fluctuating from over 1000 aus dollars to around 750.... so when i saw it so cheap i jumped on the deal :)
found it helpful video. Only thing is we will be on grand suite so we will get priority embarkation and debarkation and priority tenders, shows and not getting internet pkg so I feel at this point key is not a priority now if we were in balcony then maybe key would be beneficial ...thanks for the video to help explain benefits of key.
Thanks for the great explanation. One thing if you happen to see this question... did you have larger luggage that you turned over to a porter at the terminal before boarding so that the only think you might hand over in the main dining room are actual carry-ons or do you take all your luggage with you and give them to the folks there at the dining hall? I keep hearing it called "carry on" which I know what that limitation is for an aircraft but not for a ship. LOL. Thanks again!
Yes we usually hand the larger stuff to the porter. It is recommended to carry on anything you couldn’t live without, like medicine. We usually have a small carry on and we never hand it over as we keep our medical stuff in that one.
Thank you for the video. It is very helpful! I will have a cruise in November, and purchased the key. The last day, I have to get a flight to come back home. My flight time is changed from 2pm to 1:14pm. Do you think it will be okay or should I change the later flight? My shore is port canaveral in Orlando.
So Orlando International is 45 minutes from Port Canaveral, if you are taking private transportation you should be good, but I would recommend getting off earlier we know it’s boring to sit in the airport but I’ll take boredom over missing my flight. Just make sure you have travel insurance in case something happens to cause you to miss your flight ✈️.
Thank you for this video! It is super helpful. It's nice to see a video that also touches on how it relates to those with wheelchairs. I just subscribed! I have a family member (senior citizen) going on a cruise with us that will be in a wheelchair and we were trying to sort out if the "The KEY' is worth it for him. One question for you... For embarkation and de-embarkation, if you do not get "The Key", in your experience, how long does it take on average for someone with a wheelchair to get off the ship? For example, if your time to get off the ship is 11am, does it take an 1 hour to get off or 3 hours after 11am?
Good question. So you typically will be asked for or given an assigned time to get off the ship. This helps cut down on the size of the crowds trying to get off. Typically departures start at 7:30 and are done by 9:30. When your group is called to go, it will take probably about 15-20 minutes to get off the ship and get your luggage and be on your way. It is super fast. We just took a Celebrity cruise and our group was called at 8:20 to leave and by 8:40 we were at our car in the parking garage. If you are looking for a first time cruise, we have found Fort Lauderdale to be the fastest onboard and off boarding vs. Miami. Hope that helps and thanks for subscribing. New videos coming out next week!
@@NavigateWith thanks for the info! We are taking an intl cruise on Symphony of the Seas. Would that time still be the same (ball park since it is a larger ship)? Thanks!
Thank you for making this review! Have a cruise on Allure in Dec with a total of 10 multigenerational family member. I think since we are a large group would make it easier for us to board, disembark and sit together during shows if we get the key. Also appreciate they have reserved dining when you arrive and breakfast when you leave. I agree that the buffet is really busy during those times. And all of us now use the internet so we were going to get that most likely anyway. Thanks again for the review. Btw I say keep the beard! And if you want to take it to the next level visit a barber and have them dye it a shade darker. Really get to experience why men enjoy their beards. 👍 and post your before and after!
Glad you found the review useful! Nate tried to make an appointment with the barber 💈 but Colleen took his phone away and replaced it with a razor 🪒! Have a great cruise!
Also on the Allure in Dec and that arrival lunch and disembarkation breakfast where big for us. We were getting Internet anyway so might as well take advantage of the other things.
@@NavigateWith Are you planning on going on Icon? We have booked a handicapped accessible room for our family. Hopefully will be able to post some photos or do a video review.
Tmxd78 we will be on Icon making a video this week talking about our booking experience and some of our predictions! Plus you will want to hear about what we ended up booking, so keep an eye out!
You will like The Key. We sailed on the Allure with it and the staff did an awesome job taking care of Key guests. We just got off the Voyager and their staff WAS NOT as attentive to Key guests as on the Allure. We sailed on the Allure out of Galveston and it was awesome. Hopefully you will have the same experience when you sail on her out of Orlando. Happy Cruising and have an awesome time :)
I believe there used to be a surf package and then a surf + stream package (faster). For our next RC cruise I only see the surf+stream option. With The Key you do get the fastest connection, but always double check RC’s website for current information.
The seats look pretty good, we never get to use them because we have to leverage the accesible seating. And yes everyone who gets the key gets internet.
We went ahead and bought the keys. First time cruising w Royal and have only ever done Disney so we thought we would splurge a little since it was so much cheaper! Looking forward to those crab cake eggs Benedict 😉
We are going on out first royal cruise in November here in Australia we though we would splurge and get key unlimited dining package will be our 1st since shut down
You can still use the porters to load your luggage and the staff will take it off the ship the night before. With The Key you can drop your carry onboard and the crew will take it to your room.
Great video thx! We are certainly considering The Key for our Alaskan cruise! Does this give priority access to The North Star or the sky-diving experience as well?
We haven’t been on a Quantum class ship so I would double check with Royal. Honestly we have never been impressed with that part of The Key, as attraction availability for just The Key is very limited.
Yes, on our last cruise we didn’t get that information until 1 or 2 weeks before the our embarkation date. That email will let you know what time you can arrive. On our last cruise to take advantage of the early embarkation we needed to be at the port between 10:30-12. Also your boarding pass will have the key symbol on it and follow the signs for The Key. Port workers will try to move along with everyone else, just keep telling them you have The Key and you’ll get to the right spot!
I'd say you get your money worth for it. The internet I normally see it for around 18 a day. They key I see is usually around 22 bucks a day. This means the lunch alone makes up the difference.
We got the Key for cheaper than the original price we were quoted for the Internet for the week. Absolutely worth it when you factor in many European ports with tenders. Wouldn't be worth it if we had kids. Depends on the person's situation.
Yes it does. You can walk off anytime you want, from 7:40-9:30 (times will vary from ship to ship). Also, you get a nice sit down breakfast in the main dining room, so really nice way to finish your vacation.
