i just want to say, i LOVE that you are reading classics. its one of my favorite genres and it tends to be lost to the wayside for many booktubers as they tend to focus on new releases pretty much exclusively. :)

Hobonichi (the brand of diaries) actually worked with him to make something for their line coming out tomorrow!! So you'll see him go up in popularity anyway. I loved the art of the hobonichi cover and pencil board, and I ordered one of his books to read. I won't be the first or the last one to do that!

Oh my gosh I love love LOVE Shaun Tan! My favorite of his is Tales from Outer Suburbia, which is a collection of short magical realism stories, complete with his incredible illustrations (of course). His illustrations are amazing, but his WRITING is just as impressive! Shaun Tan is one of the few creators in the world whose work I read with a mixture of awe and jealousy because I'm just so blown away by the way his mind works. I've also read his most recent release, Tales from the Inner City, but I have to warn you, it is MUCH darker than Outer Suburbia, and made for a more depressing read. Still worth reading, but definitely start with Outer Suburbia!

Shaun Tan is one of my favourite authors and illustrators of all time. I have a very similar reaction every time I revisit one of his stories (which are all fantastic, by the way!)
He lives and works in Melbourne, which is where I am from, and I had the pleasure of meeting him once! He is a lovely humble, gentle fellow with a dry sense of humour.
So glad you discovered and enjoyed his work!

I have all of Shaun Tans books and they’re honestly all incredible. The Red Tree is my personal favourite although it’s very short! His book Tales from Outer Suburbia is a great collection of lovely short stories which I think you would like too!

Bluets is one of the books on my TBR at the moment as I read The Argonauts by Maggie Nelson last month and absolutely loved it. Currently reading The Monk by Matthew Lewis which reminds me of you as you've talked about it a few times.
Autobiography of Red is one of my favorite books and I never get to hear people talk about it so just hearing you mention it has my heart SO warm
I squealed when I saw Bluets by Maggie Nelson. I haven't read all of it but whatever I did read, I loved! Also, I loved this catch-up vlog, it definitely inspired me to pick up my books LOL

I would love to be able to read that many in a year, but my reading speed isn't super fast and I usually only read 1-3 books at once plus school, and other activities take up lots of time. I'm pretty sure you will love Bluets! I recently read it and absolutely loved it.
Graphic novels are real books and count towards any book reading goal. I got to about 130 last year (though my friend turned around and said ... didn't you say 300 ?) Actually my aim has always just to get through many of the books I have bought otherwise they just stay on the shelves unloved. I mix reading 1000 pagers (Marvel / DC Omnibus) with a number of short books as well as more photo / graphic themed ones as well as plays etc. Great video as ever
