I’ve never met my son Liam until I went down at first he was very shy but afterwards we were the best of buddies so it came time for me to go back to Canada , he cried, and I cried. This song reminds me of that departure.

This is such an amazing performance by her, and this song always breaks my heart to listen to. Anyone who's left someone or been left knows all the emotions far too well in this song just like I do. It's so beautiful and honest and painful all at the same time, and all these years later it's still one of my favorite Country ballads.

I play for country artist Shawna Russell, we had the honor of opening for the Judds on their "Last Encore Tour" this year. I always loved this song just because of the beauty and power, but when you see her do this live, WOW!!! If you don't get a tear in your eye there's something wrong with you! Powerful performance!

This song described so much of what i felt. I didn't want to leave but felt like I just wanted to be alone so no one would see me dying inside. I stayed and 4 months later God gave me a son by adoption, he is 16 now and I am still happily married. I have never told anyone this and this song still makes me cry.

Why didn't you listen to me when you called to tell me you were on your way to Kentucky to see if what you were feeling were true. You told me you loved me and in a few weeks you changed you mind and returned to Florida. It hurts so much.
I have listened to many relationship ending songs, but I don't think any is more beautiful and sad as this one. Bonnie Raitt's "I Can't Make you Love Me" is close and then there is George Jones' "He Stopped Loving her Today". These songs make us hurt so much, so why is it that we listen to them over and over?

I had a daughter 18 years ago and didn't know about her until just two years ago. Thought I would never raise a child. She is now actively in my life and a little package showed up on my door step just over a year ago. He now calls me papa. He turns two in a couple of months and I can t imagine my life without him. Never thought I would do well with children. Now? I would be empy without my Hunter he is my savior. He changed my life, he is my life. Congrats to you!!
