When a group of Irish travellers set up camp in a field opposite my house, I was willing to give them the benefit of the doubt, but unfortunately after they kept pestering my elderly neighbour, threatened all the local kids while they were playing in their own front gardens, pinched bikes and other stuff from most of the sheds up our road, broke into a local antique warehouse and destroyed most of their property, set their dogs on anyone who walked past ‘their camp’ and then left the site in such a mess it cost £1000’s to put it right, I changed my opinion.
Yeah, awful awful parents letting her down like that! Father driving dangerously (or whatever it was) so rightfully went to prison and mum making them late (as always) to see him!! Mum also egged it up and made her daughter cry for the dramatics and the pity in an attempt to manipulate the prison into letting them in which she was convinced they would do. I’m Canadian and watch this series and feel horrified over their entitlement. The fact they feel laws don’t apply to them, live recklessly, then have the audacity to claim police and society are against them? Are they serious? Marrying off underage children to delinquents and girls spending a life of slavery and poor education. All while being sexualized. Wow!!! Poor Gypsies! Not to mention the expectation of living off peoples property and moving their families every other day just to avoid property taxes and rent ?! Also… maybe if the men treated their women as equals I wouldn’t have to say this but why do most of the men look like they’ve got an extra chromosome while their girlfriends and wives are gorgeous!!
I’m English and although some gypsy families are alright,we have several gypsy camps where I live. The girls have rules, their not allowed to drink and have to ask permission from their parents or husbands to do anything but the boys can do what they like when they like, they have no boundaries. They cause havoc throw rocks at bus windows and off motorway bridges onto cars, go into shops and just take whatever they want, they break into sports centres to use the showers and facilities and often treat pets badly . They have their own laws/beliefs that contradict British law ,it’s their culture but it makes life a misery for the regular British taxpayer who’s council tax etc goes up to cover the cost of the damage they cause.
I agree. They complain about people not wanting them around, yet they are constantly breaking laws, inconveniencing others and all while claiming it's just the culture. They pull in 20 rvs to a PUBLIC area in someone's back yard and wonder why the police show up. It's really shocking. And they abuse animals left, right and center. Why should they not have to pay for land? Why should everyone just move so they can whip horses in a dangerous race while cars are swerving and throwing beer cans on the road??? Don't want to be treated with disrespect, then have some self respect and personal accountability
This isn’t just a gypsy thing. Plenty of girls in America connect with guys from “those kinds of families” and end up heartbroken, trapped and living with a community of alcoholics and bums
From the Uk ,The lack of educated is a serious problem ,most stop school after primary education,it’s so very sad these very pretty young girls are destined to domestic servitude and birthing as many children as possible, those fairly local to me seem to be pregnant every year ,they marry so young ,most by 16 ,that’s a lot of child bearing years ,they are all catholic ,so birth control isn’t even a thing . half a dozen children by their early 20s is not unusual ,a lot of women end up giving birth every year until age stops it happening.
I love how the guy says they hate us the police because we’re travelers. No, it’s not because you break the law or anything that has nothing to do with it. 😂
It’s both, they’re a marginalised community who are stigmatised (stereotyping can lead to unfair judgement and assumptions) but they’re also often poor due to other systemic issues which leads to crime. They’re also more heavily policed meaning that they are more likely to be arrested. They’re absolutely over represented in prison. This kind of shit isn’t black and white.
America sees the dame situations. Different groups claim racism. Not ..oh, crime, more crime, and ...crime. 😕 Wish people would wake up, instead of pretending to be victims of "the mean police" 🙄
The police are right. There is NO need for the horses to be side by side on both sides of the road. They don't have to over take each other and can just be behind each other like normal horses on UK roads.
We have the Amish here in the US, and they never have a problem. They use their carts and horses on the correct side of the road and there is no issue.
I'm disgusted about the treatment of the horses being forced to run on road. The dangers and discomfort to them...my God, these gypsy men defy all to do what they want. Law means nothing to them. Absolute arrogance! these poor horses could slip and break a leg...😠

Right, but do they steal because they've been ostracized and they don't have another way? If people won't hire you for more than low paying jobs, people will find other ways to feed their children. They treat animals themselves horribly, kinda ironic then to be treated the same. Would think they would treat their animals better, but clearly not. The victim hood is incredibly strong with gypsies, never wanna improve themselves.
They should set standards for the welfare and safety of horses and other animals. I strongly suspect that the UK wouldn't enforce the laws if they had them. Fox hunting is illegal in the UK but the government never enforces the law.

Probably easier to keep pure if you marry so young. I don’t like the idea of giving a lifetime commitment at such a young age, and before they spend any time together to work out if they are suited. Education for both the boys and the girls would certainly give them more choices in life.
I have no issues with anyone wanting/keeping "Traditions" etc. but like everyone else, the law is for everyone to follow! The issue I have with most Travelers/Gypsies is the arrogant attitudes and NOT allowing their children to receive an education! “There is a disproportionate number of travelers in prison” **proceed to show footage of the travelers breaking several laws, blatantly lying to police, marrying underage girls and occasionally cousins, etc.**👁👄👁 I love these videos and learning about the different cultures, but every time I watch them I get so heated bc of how these people live their lives. The girls are taken out of school to become housewives, get married barely after puberty to older men that think of them as property, and at a young age are taught to dress, act, and dance like little strippers to impress men in hopes of getting married before 18 so that they’re not “too old” for guys to want them. All while acting a fool in public and disrespecting the public. Again, love these videos, but they sure don’t make the gypsy culture look great. Just enforcing a stereotype.
Sadly I have to agree with you. The stereotypes are bad but they don’t help themselves with all their bad behaviours and blatantly breaking the law. The girls act a fool and dress very inappropriately, I would never drew like that nor would I allow my children to either. My daughter will never leave the house wearing what they wear, it’s appalling actually. Barely anything on. I hate to judge but I understand why it doesn’t look good for them.
I agree with you. It's just like in the US with people who think of themselves as sovereign citizens. Well if you don't like the laws/rules here you can move to another country? If not you have to live by the letter of the LAW, don't whine and bitch about it
Latter point is one of the issues around Aboriginal Australians. Were told to embrace the culture and give back to them and abolish perceived stereotypes. But they don't help themselves when they're seen drinking, swearing and abusing people at every corner and saying we owe them handouts. Meanwhile there are reports of child sex abuse in communities in the news. Love learning about the culture but you need to help yourself, even if just to improve your life
The animal abuse being normalised in their community is disgusting. This should be evidence enough to not let them have animals in their "care". And marrying off kids to grown men!? So much abuse 💔
I’d say the fact that he’s five years older than her and shes 15 at that times more concerning 😅 isn’t it better to be concerned about our own kind first
At fifteen, she is still a child. That is way too young to get married, imo. And I am surprised that so many of the men and boys featured in this episode are more focused on crime than working a job and doing honest work. You can see the toll it takes on their families. smh. But kudos to Mary for choosing what is right for her baby and her. 💗
“It’s against the law to race horses on the street” and y’all are wondering why there are so many travelers in jail? You know, if you stop breaking the law, you don’t have to go to jail. The issue here is they do not care about anyone else. The Daddy dude saying that they’re the most important thing on the road is ridiculous, considering there’s so many people trying to get to work, the hospital, God knows what else.
Its too bad that they don't know any real horsemanship, or have any concern for the safety or well-being of their horses. They are too arrogant to learn.
Visitations aren't done like, all together in a room any more. It's usually virtual or window to window. And if that's not how it operated then, why would grown men pick on another man's daughter dressed like a princess, saying they didn't get the cultural thing. Generally speaking wives and children are fighting topics.
@@paigerowe1090 right, because you could literally have a man next to you for pedophilia and then kids right there?
An extra chromosome means they have DS. Someone with that disability have more common sense than these guys!

I'm pretty sure they don't believe they're real diamonds. Sometimes people use slang.
I think they mean Diamanté but pronounce it the same way as 'Diamond'
I'm sure some of them are fake rhinestones and then I've heard them use the word crystals but I think there was a few girls that like their parents could actually afford. Not real diamonds but a pretty good. Significant amount of fake diamonds or mixture or something cuz there was one that like her wedding was like it had to be over like thousands and thousands of dollars

Exactly
No idea how they afford all these crazy dresses. The mother whose husband is in jail. Who pays her bills? She gets made at prison staff. How about smacking your husband for breaking the law.
I've seriously been wondering the same thing. I know with some of the men actually have like it looks like construction type, businesses or something and a lot of them do scrapping but I want to know how they afford all this stuff because the men are the only ones that are working. The women don't work. They have all these kids so maybe they get a lot of taxes in for having so many kids. Maybe they're living on welfare. I don't know but I would like to know how they can afford all this s*** because that dressmaker lady said that she's making like a s*** ton of money. She lives in a great house but yet I was starting to think maybe she was just making them some cheap dresses with little like fake rhinestone diamonds as they call them on them. But some of the stuff that's been on these episodes is like it's got to be more expensive than that even for English standards@@SandraHertel-u3b

My heart breaks considering the futures of all those bright and lovely girls, who soon will get married away and are forced to submit their whole lives to some man they hardly know before the wedding, like pitiful Danielle ...

They are their own worst enemy
It's a testament to the hard work of the travellers that they are able to stretch their benefits to cover limousines and eleborate dresses.
She is a child & is unknowingly losing part of her childhood because of this. The fact that this culture sexualizes & objectifies girls at such a young age is sick.
They sexualize these girls, yet expect they abstain from sex & remain "pure" until marriage. It's disheartening.
Probably easier to keep pure if you marry so young.
I don’t like the idea of giving a lifetime commitment at such a young age, and before they spend any time together to work out if they are suited.
Education for both the boys and the girls would certainly give them more choices in life.
I’m not a fan of the children dancing/dressing so scantily
You're ignorant she is not a child she is an adult.
I have no issues with anyone wanting/keeping "Traditions" etc. but like everyone else, the law is for everyone to follow! The issue I have with most Travelers/Gypsies is the arrogant attitudes and NOT allowing their children to receive an education! When you know better you do better and if the only things these kids are taught are what they see or overhear from all the uneducated and criminal aspects around them, the cycle just continues? I've seen shows where the Traveller/Gypsy kids/teenagers can't read or write but are expected to raise a family and exist in a world that's just passing them by... Allow your children to receive an Education if you truly love them. Ignorance is no excuse in the eyes of the law regardless of what country they happen to be in.
I agree with you. There are girls in Afghanistan who has to seek out a secret education because the taliban has banned girls from gaining knowledge. I completely agree with you.
Mormons is like this too
I totally agree. They need an education instead of being hell bent on getting married early and having the “my wedding is the biggest and the most sparkly” mentality. There are bad stereotypes about gypsies and they don’t help themselves by their actions and therefore having their children follow their footsteps.

I love these videos and learning about the different cultures, but every time I watch them I get so heated bc of how these people live their lives.
