      I agree. The last time I went to Disneyland Paris was in 1998 (yes 25 years ago). The Jules Verne theming was what I remembered most.... i guess nowadays Disney execs think kids won't care about something like that (nor Mark Twain, Tom Sawyer Island). But I say if you expect kids to be dumb then you're gonna end up with dumb kids....

    Speaking as a Jules Verne (and Star Wars) fan from way back, putting a Star Wars overlay on Paris's Space Mountain still feels like a crime.

    • @Gnomereginam
      @Gnomereginam 24 дня назад

      The original theming was absolutely gorgeous. They should to keep revamping it according to that theme. Disney could adapt or make something inspired by Jules Verne and then they'd have a reason to make the theming even better.

    The reason why the Paris version of Big Thunder Mountain has a long straight track in the beginning and a pretty significant drop at the end. Because when to coaster departs and arrives at the station it actually goes under the lake. The station is on build on the shore of the lake and the main portion of BTM is build on this island in the middle of the lake. The only way to get from the shore to the island on BTM is by tunnel.

    It's crazy seeing how busy it is. in Summer. I got an amazing deal when I went in January 2019. £300 per person for 3 nights/ 4 days park tickets on site hotel and full board food (which is lucky as food prices are sooo expensive there) and the best part was there were no crowds. Most rides were walk on minus 1 afternoon where we queued 30 mins for Big Thunder Mountain but then another day we did 2 rides in 10 mins. I will stick to going during off season. The night show is sooo good.
    Never been to any of the other Disney Parks but would love to visit them some day. Big Thunder Mountain is my favourite in the park and it does look better than some of the other versions. The Studios park is massive letdown but I did love the main Disney Park.

    The Hyperion Café is named after the Airship Hyperion from the movie on Island on Top of the World from 1974. It failed at the American Box Office, but did better in European Markets. My mother use to show it to me when I was a child due to being cheap at the time on VHS. It is an enjoyable movie, but your mileage may vary. However, Tony Baxter, legendary Disney Imagineer, really liked it apparently, and it was part of a planed expansion to the original Disneyland that he designed that never went through. Discovery Land at Disneyland Paris has some elements from that proposed expansion. In a way, Disneyland Park Resorts shows the Eisner Era at its heights and lows through Disneyland Paris and Walt Disney Studios Park.

    Just a little fun fact about Indiana Jones and the Temple of Peril. This ride wasn't actually designed by Intamin but rather by Pinfari of all companies. In fact this ride is a near identical clone of their TL59 layout. Afaik their plan was actually to buy a TL59 straight from Pinfari (yes Disney buying a Pinfari), but they were fully booked with orders and couldn't deliver anything within the wanted timeframe. And so as a result they turned to Intamin who were available and could make a clone of the TL59 layout, with a few tweaks to make it smoother.
    The original TL59 model was quite rare with few built and only a few are left, including one at a small park in Britain named "Brean's Leisure park". Another one literally just called "Looping TL59" was located at the former Tivoli Karolinelund in downtown Aalborg, Denmark, but was sold along with most of the rides there to a buyer in Iraq when the city government closed the park in 2010, despite it being profitable.
    I actually saw the Karolinelund one as a kid in 2009. Back then I was a scared wimp but even then I considered riding it since the drops didn't look that big and scary. But what did make me chicken out was the inclusion of a loop. Now I'm kinda sad I never got to ride it.

    Been there many times, and apart from the first visit shortly after opening when they clearly still had some work to do, I always loved it! And I'm not even that much of a Disney fan to begin with. I don't know if they still do those, but many years ago we did do two "behind the scenes" tours in the park, with them pointing out many little details and easter eggs, that was really interesting. Discovery Land has always been my favorite area of the park, the theming is just so amazing. It's a shame though to see Space Mountain with Star Wars theming, it just doesn't fit. And I'm a bit surprised to see Indiana Jones running forwards again, for years they had it running backwards which made for a somewhat more interesting experience. As for Studios: that has always been a mess and I'm honestly not sure if the more recent changes are an improvement. It still needs a lot of work.

    From a Coaster perspective it probably has one of the strongest coaster collections and I would love it if the Studios park got a Guardian's clone as well as the main park could get a Tron Clone both would fit well.

    • @SamsonSilvo
      @SamsonSilvo Год назад +3

      Guardians in studios, that I can agree with. Tron in *Discoveryland,* though? Not so much... Tron would clash *way* too much with the Steampunk, Jules Verne theming that all the other buildings in Discoveryland have. I honestly would rather they just retire Space Mountain's Star Wars overlay once the Studios version of Galaxy's Edge opens and bring back its original From the Earth to the Moon storyline.

    This video is my christmas gift !
    Studios has a real problem with theming. For instance, Cars road trip is a cheap retheme of the studio tour ride, which only features the canyon scene and cheap pannels and characters in the woods ! That's so cheap that way smaller parks have better theming !
    I'm not a fan of Discoveryland anymore, as its core steampunk/Jules Verne theming is slowly getting overlaid by popular IPs like Star Wars. Nautilus used to be a walkthrough attraction, but it's currently used as a character meet and greet place, which is kinda sad in my opinion.

    The Walt Disney Studios is just so.... confusing! It's really struggling with it's identity, and I don't think Avengers Campus or Frozen will help with that.
    You have a Studios style park entrance, then the ToT sat on it's own, Avengers Campus, Toon Studio/Pixar Place - which has the most random mixture of attractions. And when the lake is finished, it will feature an old English style area with a Rapunzel tea cups type ride. Like, I just have no clue what direction the park is heading in 😆

    I’m so sad about Disney Studios Park, it’s like they are cursed or something. They’ve had so many additions, but all the attractions are subpar because they have not fixed the main problem of the park which is that it was designed so badly. The studio theme is changing from behind the scenes to immersive experience but the existing attraction lineup does not let help them. Specially the Worlds of Pixar area. Hopefully the upcoming changes will help it. It needs greenery, water, motion and theming! And better restaurants and bars!
