This is like that Love, Death, and Robots episode "Suits"! So excited for this one!
Same thing that came to my mind! And honestly I loved that episode so much. It was one of the episodes that "I need to know more about this universe"

On the rain not getting rid of the toxic goo. I see it as the rain doesn't have enough water pressure to disperse said goo.
Something about looking out of a cockpit makes first person so immersive
Yes. P.e. I don't like space sims, where u just see your ship from behind. It feels like arcade.

I like that the building cleared the grass from directly under it, and nowhere else. So many games either just leave the grass poking up through whatever you've built, or splash down a giant bare spot. I know it's just aesthetics, but it looks good.
Probably easier to program and generally devs think it looks nicer to do the clearing around the building in a circle, like they cleared it to put in the building
Battletech has an era known as the Republic Era, where after a massive war everyone decided that they were either too weak and exhausted from war that they decided they needed to economically redevelop and so a lot of Mechs were either scrapped or turned into farm, forestry, mining, or construction equipment until 50 years later chaos ensued when the HPG network went down.
Also, in the Periphery Mechs are so expensive to maintain that you can't afford to just have them sit around waiting for someone to attack, so they are used for other civilian tasks when they aren't being repaired or fighting.
It's amusing how little attention Splattercat pays to what is going on.
Damn massive castle like building in the background that he didn't notice for ages, finally realises there's a shining star like thing in the sky, which was one of the first things he was told, that it was the ship in orbit.
This makes me think of the original colonists in warhammer 40k.the titans and knights were originally construction mechs

That Electroflux vacuum looks just like an old Electrolux vacuum my mom had growing up. Wasn't expecting a wave of nostalgia from a mech-survival game haha.
This is absolutely inspired by that one Love Death and Robots episode! I actually wrote a design document for a game quite like this as a assignment in uni, also inspired by the same episode!

In mw5, my hero Corsair has outlasted hundreds of millions of creds worth of other assault mechs. 3 ac5-bfs plus some extra drones, super useful in my lances, keep going back to it! The Corsair is like an industrial/agrimech modified by pirates for battle, asymmetric kitbashed kinda look
I cannot acknowledge this game as being in the Battletech spirit until it introduces combined-arms farming. While it currently features mechs, merchant Dropships and a little bit of infantry, it lacks basics like wheeled combines and cropdusters.
That bit of sarcasm aside, I'm also liking the look of this game. I suppose they could do a serious survival mode if they introduce hunger/thirst and equipment breakdowns, but there's also a place for something you can just slowly putter away at.
Yeah, this one looks like a whole lot of fun.
Also, I'm pretty sure the shining green light in the sky is P1P3R, like she said at the start, she's the twinkling star in the sky.
The Battletech universe has Agromechs. If memory serves much link tank warfare, they were the origins of the battlemechs. Slap some weapons and armour on them and off they went to war.
I was expecting the jackhammer/chainsaw tool to contextually change animation between harvesting rocks and wood but it just jackhammers everything.
That was just him forgetting that he could do a saw swipe
I think right-click used the saw. I was slightly bothered that he just jackhammered all the trees apart. 😂

I hate it too.
I always go straight to the graphics options in games and turn that crap off. It's extremely off putting and makes the game look worse. It also uses up computer resources best used on maxing out texture details.
@@Smithers322 Ye, it uses A LOT of resources. An insane amount compared to other effects.
Motion blur, bloom and depth of field all go. If I wanted to see things blurred and hazy I'd drink more.

I played the demo and loved it, can't wait to play the full version! It's the perfect combination of simulation and arcade casual and creative building.
I love the artstyle. Cartoony, bright colours, fun aesthetics. This would be a great game in VR.

25:00I would imagine its a similar reason why the rain from the sky doesnt clean off a patio or driveway the same way the water from a power washer does. your industrial strength squirt gun is simply built different
The rain doesn't wash away the goop because it doesn't have the pressure, the same way rain doesn't clean your walk way but power washing does.

Its not THAT weird though, Imperial Knights in 40K were originally meant for colonists to use as both self defense units but also land clearing/construction/mining/what ever ells machines.
also, if the game gets mod support, I hope some one makes an SCV model from starcraft!

EDIT: This game reminds me a lot of that mech episode of Love Death and Robots! Farming + otherworld + mechs.
Funny enough it makes more sense to have mechs as working machines than as combat vehicles

I guess the reason why rain doesn't clean the slime but your water cannon does is the same reason rain doesn't clean your car but a pressure washer does :)

You shoot a LOT more water with your gun than the rain coming down.
Just played through the whole demo!! Really fun game!! Super looking forward to the full thing. There's a couple of things I think they should really change, like the crafting/inventory interactions (ie have the storage be not so limited, and feed into the crafting). But overall, fun stuff!!
really like the premise and the art style. appears to be so much they can do with this game. very interested.

About the noxious slime. It might be too thick for simple rain to wash it away. It could be that you need a high amount of pressure to wash it away that doesn't occur naturally?

Why doesn't the rain wash away the slime? Rain doesn't really wash your car, you need pressure for that. Should answer that question.
Also, the craft from storage thing does exist in the full game, just not in the demo. Chests within range of a crafter will supply the crafter automatically.
I would expect to see mecha mods galore for this game.
It actually makes sense that mechs will be used for work first before being used on the battlefield.

The right arm should be a rotary mount, with each new tool being something that can just be selected by rotating the arm.
we need a DLC or a mod for this where we fight aliens trying to destroy our farm, then i'd consider buying, we already have enough farming games, not enough shooting robot farming ones.

Halfway through the video, I am hoping that he notices that if you build the Fodder Oven inside the Shelter, beside the Oil Press, they link together.
It's really fun to clear up an area in a game, but in real life it feels like a chore. You gotta do it but its not as fun.
Motion blur is game developers way of introducing the player to the Settings screen.
I watch tank rebuild channels. After wars involving tanks, the tanks littering the battlefield are often hauled off by farmers who use them as tractors.
The plothole is solved when you consider rain isnt always super forcefull and you are shooting a jet of mech powered water.

I love Big Stompy mechs, as opposed to the fast moving mobile ones you see in most anime and games (Other than Mechwarrior)

Mechwarrior meets valheim with the color palet from palworld. Those ARE three of the five on my steam quick-launcher. If you could point me toward the Devs so I can tell them to shut up, whilst thrusting a fistfull of money in their direction, I would be eternally grateful :)

Motion blur is mainly just a compensation tool for consoles that have traditionally (and because they weak as shit) been stuck at 30fps.
Heavy motion blur helps make the common idiot feel like they aren’t gaming at 30 fps.
As if they too, can call themselves a gamer.
