@@thatangryengie2440 hm maybe assuming you are already on the lowest settings for graphics in game i would try running it in a lower resolution, for example for 1080p id use 1050p or 900p
keep in mind: if you are still experiencing fps drops, that depends on the server you are on, if you are playing a vanilla sandbox server with no addons and pvpers and builders, you will experience less lag than a darkrp server with 18 thousand addons
wow I cant believe it... This worked so much better than expected. I have a decent pc but for some reason gmod seemed to run at very low framerate, this completely fixed it and made my game run stable 144 with the cap no drop whatsoever. Thank you

If you have any frame drops then this may work: changing “fps_max --“ to “fps_max 999” for a reduced overall framerate (only a tiny bit) but without any framedrops hopefully.

If you're suffering from thermal throttling (sudden massive fps drops) on gmod, you can either try mat_powersavingsmode 1 to prevent it from happening. If that still doesn't make thermal throttling go away, like in my case, then try fps_max 15. 15 fps isn't good at all, but it's better than having unstable fps.

Wow.. I have a good gaming computer but somehow Gmod has a low frame rate. I have 1023 addons installed and my max fps was 78. This boosted it to 165 and works very well. Thank you so much and keep up the work! Edit: I deleted unused addons, which boosted my fps. I barely play Gmod anymore but now I have more space
To be honest, i didnt really see any changes on my laptop, but it did help quite a bit! This really helped to increase my fps! I don't get lags that much anymore, especially during massive npc fights. However, it messed up some of my textures such as the doors and some walls, the doors having randomized textures and some missing textures on the walls in my other downloaded maps. Is there a way to fix this?
Update: I was able to fix it by returning mat_specular from 1 to 0, it was causing weird reflections with missing textures, and about the randomized door textures I just changed mat_queue_mode from 2 to 0 or 1.

I have intel hd graphic and this helped me I have like 72 mods activated and this helped me I had like 21 fps but after I have 178 fps and it is running fine
if you have the default fps_max value (300) and let's say you're getting 200 fps on construct when nothing is hapenning and when you would change that to let's say 600 then you WILL get more fps could be even 100 fps more, that's how the source engine works
i wonder why gm_russia wont work perfectly for me it used to run around 230-210 fps now after sum several updates my fps js dropped so much like 100 fps puttin the flashlight on it will start lagging 50 fps i wonder how to fix this issue while having a best performance of my pc cuz when i try the other maps i get more fps

fps nearly tripled, even with a bunch of realism mods and reshade installed. 150 fps with mw2019 weapons on gm_mountainpass, a map that id usually get 30 fps on with default weapons
I noticed it too and I’m sure it has to do with the branch. I’ve been selecting the 64 option and it’s been working good. Not sure the difference between the 64 and Garry’s mod option though.

I believe this is due to the optimization of new hardware and windows 10+. I have an RTX 3080 w/ R9 5900x and the game ran like utter crap.

This is my problem. In GM Construct, If I look straight/down the fps drops. Once I look up or go in lower rooms the fps raises back to normal.
The problem I have is mod lag. The more addons you have the more lag. And it doesn’t even take that many addons, either.

Bro what do things i put into autoexec do? I can't velieve it i got from 21 fps to stable 60 fps (ON 2GB RAM INTEL CORE 2 DUO PC)
My hertz is 60 but is there a way to increase more fps rate ?

why if i use the physic gun my fps from 140 to 10 but if i use other gun like pistol or weapon crowbar the fps normal like 140+, can u help me?

fps nearly tripled, even with a bunch of realism mods and reshade installed. 150 fps with mw2019 weapons on gm_mountainpass, a map that id usually get 30 fps on with default weapons
I just got the game and for some reason it only run 10-20 fps. I have i5 8500 and gtx 1080 and 16gb ram

I noticed it too and I’m sure it has to do with the branch. I’ve been selecting the 64 option and it’s been working good. Not sure the difference between the 64 and Garry’s mod option though.
