- Accurshear 650010 Hydraulic Plate Shear needed hold down seals and I could not find info online on how to take the hold downs apart. After a little trial and error I figured it out and made this video to save others time and grief. I have not figured out editing yet so I had to do the video as Part I and Part II because I had to stop to locate a tool.
Best of luck with your repairs. Marc - Mullin Machinery
I rebuilt the hold downs on a 12' Cincinnati shear from the turn of the last century. It was the oldest and largest shear I'd ever rebuilt. The simplest one too. Sometimes we get more technological yet dumber at the same time
Good stuff man you really help me out I really appreciate it
Glad I could be of help. I used up my year's allowance of 4 letter words before I got it figured out.
When you removed the holder, how did you stop the hydraulic oil from coming out of the shear? Is there a valve somewhere that you can shut off? If so, would you know where it is located? Thanks for your help.
I can't recall. I believe there is a valve at one end of the machine that shuts fluid to the whole rail.
First of all thank you for replying! I spent quite some time looking for a valve but no luck. I think I will have to remove the main hose that goes into the rail and cap it while I work on cylinders. Last question if I may, do you remember the exact sizes/model # of the O'Ring and the 2 lip seal?
What size spanner wrench for the spring sir
I don't recall- I have a bin full of them and grab one that fits.
nice video, but don't leave the chuck key in the chuck! lol
The machine is never powered on when doing these- (the disconnect switch is off) it is just being used as a fancy vise. Of course on RUclips, everyone is a critic....
Where did you find the parts
They are standard 2 lip seals that you can order or get from any good hydraulic supply.
You done everything except showing the removal of the seal!
Don't look a gift horse in the mouth! Using a small screw driver to pop the seal off does not require any teaching.
