I started doing this as a side job on nights because of your channel. So far I'm enjoying it, I'm a bit of a fat arse so getting out and delivering food for people on my e-bike is helping me lose weight and create extra income (which is never a bad thing). I've noticed other delivery drivers in cars are miserable. So take that with a pinch of salt.
Without saying point blank "don't quit your day job", I would say think twice, thrice, and more times before doing that. Being a qualified maintenance electrician is not a negligible thing : it's a solid base to allow you to do other things. Point is, there will always be a need for qualified people in the essential trades, whether it is roofers, plumbers, carpenters, bricklayers, electricians - people are crying out for decent , honest, competent people to do these jobs. People don't cry out for RUclipsrs - they watch them for a while and then move on. It's a fickle business - I'd be careful abouit making it your whole life.
My advice is to take your time, do as much research as you need to feel comfortable with your decision and then go for it full bore. You need to do what's best for you and your family. Only you know what that is. Regardless, I wish you the best of luck on whatever you decide Russ. One other thing, and maybe this is just because I'm older, but stop worrying so much about what other people think. Saying stuff like "You're probably sick of my voice" Uh, no. I choose to watch your channel. If I was sick of your voice I wouldn't watch. And I think I speak for all your regular viewers when I say you don't come off as arrogant or a braggart. I think you're a smart, decent dude. That's why I support you.
You got a good trade behind you man...people will always want food and you have a good following, you gotta do what you feel is best and if that's delivering then do it but you'll always have a skill to fall back on. If you've been at your full time job for a few years could you take 6 months off and dedicate that time to delivers and see how you go?
Would taking some timeout from your job for about 1 to 2 months help with your decision. Ive taken some time out from my job until Jan 2025, and so far am more happier delivering full time, and even if you decide to quit your job, you can always go back to work that pays consist money. At least youll be able to say to yourself, that youve given it a go. Most people choose to never change thier direction, and stay for fear of change. Hold your head up high, with whatever decision you do. Youve got this!
Bro, I love hearing about your life. It helps sometime to let it out. You happen to have an audience. I for myself enjoy it. To hear about how your Mrs. helped you stick to making content is awesome. There are a lot of big decisions in life we all must make. Whatever you decide, I hope nothing but the best for you and your fam. Cheers and stay safe.
7:21 I love your Mrs for saying "no you're in it now, you got to stick with it" that's a really good thing you have there with your Mrs 🙏 please say thank you to her for me, for supporting you and your dreams mate 🙏. I'm going through a divorce still, so it's nice you have the support of your Mrs 🙏 As for your job situation I hope and wish you all the best which ever choice you make. 🙏
You have an enduring and transferable skill. As long as you maintain your statutory competency, you could always return to it. But as others say, it’s the job benefits that must be recognized. Pension/Holiday/Sick Pay. Etc.
I think some of your content is so good while delivering is because you’ve already done a day’s work. People can relate to you and I think that adds to your appeal. Reduced hours may work for you but good luck in whatever you decide.
Love your ride along been delivering for almost 6 years now, demand is down , its a very unstable job day to day but you get to know the different markets, different apps, and if you're willing to put the hours you can make a good side income, i would recommend doing this with another income mostly for the actual cost of living which is getting kind of ridiculous, congrats for your perseverance on your utube channel , it paid off and you deserve it 😊
I'd say go for it! Electricians will always be in demand so you have that career to fall back on if required. Quitting to do deliveries alone would of course be moronic, but with the content doing well on RUclips as well, the possibilities really are endless.
Maybe Freddie Dobbs as well. A challenge on 1980's despatch courier bikes like the Honda CX500. Modern scooters are so easy to ride compared to those old heavy bikes with stiff gear levers. Your ankle was aching at the end of a 12-hour shift.
Hi @London Eats. Just a quick tip for when you are calculating your earnings. You should have divided the total amount by 2.75 instead of 2.45. That’s because one hour has 60 minutes and not 100. So 2h and 45 minutes are 2 whole hours and 3 quarters of an hour, thus 2,75. You can think that every six minutes (one tenth of an hour) is equal to 0.1. So 45 minutes is equal to 0.7 (because 6x7=42) and extra 3 minutes. This should help you better calculate your earnings. Best!
ooh I hope I catch the live video that you do. also I love the D&B or trap or no music better than the jazzy type music in the middle of this one.. I feel bad sayin that but I guess that's my preference for music. but keep doing whatever works for you because I love your vids mate!

Sometimes you have to take a leap of faith. Why not go for it. There are no rules, you can always go back to electrical work later if you want to. Take a chance!! I love your channel and watch it from NZ.
14:55 Yea we had the tags/barcodes back in 2004 with our "PDF" for scanning. We would stick the barcodes to the inside of the window so we could scan them to show we had estimate time of arrival which would log in time and date at the operators end!!! I worked for a tech security company
I appreciate this video as im thinking of doing this but doing it at the side of my main job just to get the extra pennies in! this helps me decide on quitting (which i wont now)
thanks for being honest. I used to deliveries full time over 2 years ago, but it comes to a point where U just cant be bothered anymore, and funny enough they pay less for each delivery now that they used to, when everything else, like rent, shopping and so on was way cheaper. So just adjust your decision to your personal circumstances, and see it for yourself. It seems like an easy job, but in winter months, it definitely isn't in my opinion. Stay safe people.
Old timer here. Back in 81 I was 4 yrs into a great telecoms job working all over UK. Then I saw a job in the paper for a contract in Saudi Arabia. Rang them, got train to London next day and day after I was offered the job. 4 weeks later I was in Riyadh, stayed for 4 years and it set me up for life. Pack in your day job, go for it with YT and the brand deals. YOLO.
When I was thinking of doing deliveroo/uber eats I took a month out from my day job that was back in 2018 I’ve tried to go back to a day job but I enjoy delivery work too much I make enough to survive and have plenty of time with my family
Awesome video! Love watching your stuff. For the calculation at the end it should be divided by 2.75. 45 mins is 0.75 of 1h. .45 is less than half an hour.
5 years. That's half a decade. Some people out there don't last 5 months. So great work. All the revenue you get is very much well deserved. It's nice to have options. But at the end of the day. YOU DO WHAT YOU ENJOY AND GET PAID FOR IT. :) God Bless You Sir.
@TheRealMike1976 I mean no disrespect to London Eats...but he's not like MrBeast 😂 RUclips is all about the algorithm, you become a slave to feed it, when you stop or go on vacation your views drop off a cliff
@@yamuiemata If you are a full-time youtuber you do extra videos and schedule them for your normal times slots while you are on holiday. Same as if you are sick. Always keep at least two weeks content in the wings.
The Job market is so unstable these days. I think you should keep the best of both worlds and see where that takes you eventually!! Good Luck in whatever you decide to do...👍👍🥰
I would keep both jobs and keep stacking so you can retire faster. Also RUclips is never guaranteed. Great work mate. Also why did you say “this isn’t America” lol I didn’t get that part. Yes in America we expect our stuff fast. Time is money Mate.
Hello mate, not sure if you will see my comment, But I was just wondering from your previous videos, what electric bike model you have been using, or what’s your best recommendation would be? Would appreciate a reply 🙏👌
From the perspective from a former gig-economy worker: 1. Income needs to be sustainable (for yourself and your loved ones) 2. Income (along with career opportunities) should grow/commensurate with your experience As I am not privy to the medical, or pension benefits that gig-economy workers enjoy in the UK, I cannot comment on the overall income that one can derive as a gig-economy worker. Wishing you the best, whatever your decision may be.
What you do is not delivery it's just fun man, I do full time delivery and only with one application not with several and you can live very well from it
My 2-cents. Your day job ticks all the boxes: good management, colleagues and career satisfaction. That's rare. Why change? Another factor, stick it out for another year and you are a "10 year experienced and qualified" electrician. So you could become a desirable self-employed and work as many hours as you want. Then you have two paths of passions, with full autonomy over each.
I definitely would suggest taking your time in your decision you never know what the future bring. Also the nfc tags are already out at deliveroo editions.
Always great content, interesting to see the Big Smoke a 24 hour and very varied city, and your authentic commentary Would hope potential Riders do the full maths… out of the earnings you show, have to allow for fuel / charging the bike, insurance, depreciation on the bike (they last 5 years?…. Total cost divide by 5 per year) etc. Over the course of a standard month, good days and bad, earn (net of costs) about Min Wage? Yes, it’s more interesting than getting Min Wage at a supermarket….but it’s still Min wage. And the “demand” in your footage, and distances between jobs, is obviously just inner / middle London, might be a lot different in other (smaller, less densely populated) cities and towns.
Thought you was saving to get out of that hell hole london , I moved out just after covid , live by the seaside and never been happier get out of London whilst you’re still young
I remember during Covid lockdowns the thing to be was a delivery person. They were making hand over fist. And when everything went back to normal and everyone could buy their own groceries and go out, those delivery people were left hanging.
Benefits + Union + Pension > self employed gig job being slowly eaten by internet co’s, robots & drones. Keep the side hustle … Amazn’ at it! Could evolve into new things unimaginable today. Build RUclips & other tech co. relationships … perhaps future job there like great tech RUclipsr Rene Ritchie did.
Id say go for youtube now while you got the chance since it might not be there late. Doubt the need for electricians will go away any time soon if for some reason the youtube thing wouldent end up working out
Another great vlog, I would defo keep the day job, tempting so it is to go youtube and all that goes with it, electricians more in demand. One thing you must do get your full licence and loose the L plates, its about time bro get it done!
My 2 cents worth is that if you want to take your RUclips business to the next level, you will need to commit full-time. Speaking as a fellow YT content creator and seeing other creators here in the USA, you have the right work ethic and audience demographic to be successful. You can always have your electrical experience as a backup if needed .
i recently quit delivery after 3 years, average wage comes to £10-12 p/h give or take some good and bad days, i only worked primetime so 7pm to about 1am on an e-bike rental which used to cost £30 a week but now it's up to £170 a month, bear in mind i'd have to work at least 2-3 shifts just to break even which leaves around £1k profit each month from 5 evening shifts a week (inc. weekends) and for the amount of physical effort in frequently poor weather conditions i'd suggest picking up a new skill or trade instead of riding around transporting food
DO IT!!! You never hear people in their 80's saying "I'm really happy I never tried going for it"!! I quit the "rat race" 16 years ago, blundered in to writing and the odd bit of content creation 14 years ago and couldn't imagine a better life. You have a trade that will always be transferable and a successful RUclips channel, why wouldn't you build on the RUclips Channel now and fall back on your trade if you need to? A total no brainer!!
I say go for it man, quit the day job and if it doesn’t work out you always got the qualification to get another job. I feel like you’re overworking yourself at the moment with the 2 jobs and early starts etc. But do what you feels best dude.
The critical aspects of being successful I think are an ability to organise, and utilising the tech ie. the various systems employed by the delivery app companies and being proficient with the phone. I think you are the exception re being financially sustainable on a full time basis because, as you allude to, you have the RUclips income stream which I suspect is your primary source of income from the delivery activity. As with all such considerations some weight must be apportioned to the lifestyle aspect, it is not always about the money. Enjoy the channel and the videos are fast paced with plenty of variety.
dont quit your dayjob just yet, even if it doesn't make you complacent or lazy, and youll feel like youre more motivated to focus on youtube, its going to reduce that workload on you which keeps you sharp and its also going to put you into a different mind space
It might be doable IF you have a nice RUclips channel with ad revenue income, sponsorships etcetera. But most people do not have a RUclips channel. To just live off a full time delivery job without a proper contract for hourly wages, insurances, sick days etc etc I think it is a no go. Like you said in the video, it is all about demand. No demand, no income. Also when you are sick there will be no monies coming in. I do deliver food as a side job but I am grateful for my safe and secure full time job. Many people do not have a job at all so I feel very privileged having one.
You could ask your employer if he´s ok with reducing your work hours to 75% or even 50%. Important part is you are still insured/employed and be able to invest more time in the youtube channel. Never just quit.
My advice is dont quit your day job. You gonna be in the mercy of youtube and delivery apps algorithms. If they tweek anything you might face a slow down.
As much as I enjoy the videos, I’ll try to put this as respectfully as I can… There’s always a need for an electrician, the last thing we need is more content creators. Good luck either way, whatever makes you happy.
It is predicted that the gig economy will be the biggest industry in less than a decade, people generally love it because it gives freedom, but it does beg the question if there are too many riders then the money will reduce
because it's per cent - of 100? Makes sense. 25 - 50 - 75 - 100 - quarters. So obvious to some people, but I didn't learn fuck all at school, so anything I need now, I think about it and work it out.
I say you should go for it if you're earning enough to sustain a comfortable living and also make savings from RUclips. We dont know how much you're earning from this. You can always get back into a job if things go belly up, especially if you leave on good terms with your current company.
Don't quit. Let this be your nice side hustle and keep your 9-5. Those health, retirement benefits and paid sick days are invaluable.
if you are self employed is different. :D
You can get insurance as a self employed person to cover some of that.
Working your whole life is a waste of time.
Do what's fun.
They are very valuable to me. Probably most valuable things in life
Nah, you never know what's going to happen in the future, and consistent stable income is the way to go.
exactly, demand as he said himself is everything and youtube can't be relied on either

@@zombilicious Yeah, that makes sense coming off the holiday season. No one's going to want to drop more cash for delivery.

Side job? Yes
This is the correct answer. I’d go as far as to say hell no.
I had to go back to a 'normal' job after delivering for 2 years. Wish I could deliver full time but the pay was way too shit to continue.

It’s not the delivery driving that you would be quitting for. It’s the social media income you would be looking for.
Doubt the need for electricians will go away any time soon if for some reason the youtube thing wouldent end up working out
I love that the subtitles insist on referring to Brockley as broccoli. That joke never gets old.
Something else to consider, being a qualified electrician can open up opportunities to work in other countries 👍🏻
i recently quit delivery after 3 years, average wage comes to £10-12 p/h give or take some good and bad days, i only worked primetime so 7pm to about 1am on an e-bike rental which used to cost £30 a week but now it's up to £170 a month, bear in mind i'd have to work at least 2-3 shifts just to break even which leaves around £1k profit each month from 5 evening shifts a week (inc. weekends) and for the amount of physical effort in frequently poor weather conditions i'd suggest picking up a new skill or trade instead of riding around transporting food
I say go for it, so what happens if it doesn't work out well you get another day job with your trade, I'd say youd regret not giving it atleast a go
I say go for it man, quit the day job and if it doesn’t work out you always got the qualification to get another job.
Many people do not have a job at all so I feel very privileged having one.
urm.... just a heads up... to do your math on hourly rate 3/4 of an hour is 0.75 NOT 0.45.... great videos btw... i just love a good ramble ..
You could ask your employer if he´s ok with reducing your work hours to 75% or even 50%. Important part is you are still insured/employed and be able to invest more time in the youtube channel. Never just quit.
Can y u put on screen the name of streets and areas you are in so we can see the parts of London we watch here in Ireland
Missing the drum and bass tunes ☹️😢😂
It is predicted that the gig economy will be the biggest industry in less than a decade, people generally love it because it gives freedom, but it does beg the question if there are too many riders then the money will reduce
If you worked 2hr45mins then you should divide total by 2.75 not 2.45
because it's per cent - of 100? Makes sense. 25 - 50 - 75 - 100 - quarters.
So obvious to some people, but I didn't learn fuck all at school, so anything I need now, I think about it and work it out.
and he's thinking of time being 15 - 30 - 45 - 60
so he's mixing minutes and percentages...............
my head's aching a bit hehe
so what do you think is the best way to deliver price wise? bike, ebike motorcycle or car?
I say you should go for it if you're earning enough to sustain a comfortable living and also make savings from RUclips. We dont know how much you're earning from this. You can always get back into a job if things go belly up, especially if you leave on good terms with your current company.
Stick with your day job! It's a guaranteed pay every month! Keep doing youtube as your side hussle ❤
I personally like the idea of the check in thing, I've lost count the amount of times delivery folk have stolen my kids dinner orders.
