Thanks for doing the catamaran video.
Any time!
Have I gone mad? Yes you have, mad with content. Really cranking 'em out dude.
Yeah buddy
I'm not a big fan of the Gemini's. I'd go for the Leopard, FP and Lagoons first (in that order). There are definitely better cats than the ex-charter boats but anything that sails good (around 45') is going to be expensive and out of my range. Cats just cost more so we expect to pay more. If I only have $100-150K, I'd be looking for a monohull that sails well. That being said, I'm interested in 42-45' cats about 6 years old. I'll probably have to get an ex charter boat and hope it's performance isn't too bad.
I cant afford a decent cat so my shoes must be water proof ;)
I don't always agree with you, but i do value your insights. Keep doing what you're doing!
Great video! It's refreshing to see one of these boats available for viewing in Australia. Otherwise, it would take a minimum of a 12 hour flight to the Caribbean to inspect a minimum of half a dozen boats, to make the trip worthwhile.
Awesome
Thanks for this video, don’t know why RUclips hiding your videos recently. Some Gemini’s have that stress cracking problem which make me leary. PDQ owners all seem to love their factory built boats 😂 I can’t believe FP and Lagoons are now in this price range. Seems like a few years ago they were all way out of this price range!
Right? Lagoons were way outta this price range just a couple years ago
2011 leopard 44 385k
I like those boats
My favorite budget cat is a hobbie cat. All joking aside, the Gemini looks like a decent starter for coastal cruising. If money wasn't an issue, the Outremer 55 is my dream Cat.
yeah I would love a big cat but I am broke so that creates a small issue ;)
@ChasingLatitudes haha same here last few years have been rough. I had to sell my 21 foot Newport to put tires on a car. My problem is that I like too many boats. Realisticly though I prefer freshwater and a catamaran is too big for the lakes here in Northern Idaho.
@@nonoiscool98 Idaho is gorgeous though, I used to live on lake mcall
@ChasingLatitudes that's awesome I haven't been that far south in a minute. It is a really nice lake though.
Thanks you for this video 🎉 back to work guess I need more money 😢
Me too
"Ankle replacements are cheap in the Dominican Republic".
Gemini 35 Legacy are the awesome , You can actually be over 6ft and stand up straight . They have a shallower draft , but no dagger boards ( why open "blue" water sailing can not be recommended ) They are perfect for the Great Lakes ( storage is another issue . A 30 day food plan for an Atlantic cross would be rough unless solo sailing )
Lagoons & Leopards 38's are motor sailors at best in light wind , You might as well look at a Maverick
Yo, PDQ are not backyard. Very solid just older.
TomCats same. Not backyard. Very much like Gemini but fewer produced.
I thought "built like a trainwreck" was a feature on the Wharrams.
11:55 "very, very CHEAP catamaran" - $99,900. This world of sailing is killing me.
😂 I agree
The Ryan Reynolds of sailboat reviews
Love it still haha
Working hard on content today. Most cat's will at least get you up out of the hole in the water, to lounge, navigate and sometimes cook.
cranking out the vids thats for sure
the 18” draft is such a cool feature of the gemini.
however i don’t think the saloon layout is luxury enough for the wife to be all in on it.
seems like you can get pretty new adventuras if you stretch the budget a little.
id imagine that the lagoons must have an earlier one of life with the balsa core? idk.. i do like the leopards and fontaine pajots too.
Yay! Cats! Dang expensive, though. Lagoon 38 or 39, or Leopard 38 seems nice. Really liked the Excells, but they're all newer, right?
I would love a leopard 38
I'm gonna buy two Tartans and lash them together and make my own Cat.
sweet ;)
I suppose by now that most have read about the folks that have crossed the Atlantic, Pacific (Aussie named Brian on Sailnet) and have circumnavigated (Slapdash) on a used Gemini 105/105mc?
There is an often quoted, "I wouldn't do it again" supposedly from the CEO of Gemini and his father. This is a complete fabrication. He stated, at no time did I feel uncomfortable or unsafe.
Yeah I have heard those stories
i shall watch the maestro work...now!
Thank you thank you
Love it sir
Thank you
Easier or harder to sail than a mono?
My guess is harder. Bc of slip accomadation
Easier imo
@@ChasingLatitudes Thank You!
@@gcpwp The cost of a slip would be much more on the bigger ones. But I meant on the open water.
@@BillJohnston-y7o i totally misread. Wow i need glasses. I read “sell”
I have a main cat 30 it sails so much better than a Gemini I'm not even sure a Gemini moves on the water
Awesome video!!! Thanks!
You bet!
killing it dude, good sh°t
thanks my man
Awesome video. Great info.
Glad it was helpful!
Great video Chris. Do the Geminis have Yanmars?
PDQ is definitely not backyard built...
Canada, backyard of the united states ;)
@@ChasingLatitudes Americas hat! like Wisconsin is Illinois' hat
what's a good price for 44-46ft leopards?
Best cheap cats = wharrams all day.
yikes, not for me but in the world of sailing people should get what is best for them so its great you have found a good budget cat that would work for you if you were to go that direction
Great stuff, Chris!
Thanks!
There are some good prices in Grenada now 😢
I have been watching those pop up
Duude, the Admiral, Island Spirits, Lagoon, F-P are all 50-% wider than the Gemini 105s. They all have twin engines and higher bridgedeck clearance. It is not a fair comparison to the budget Geminis. Better to contrast the 105mc to a monohull as you did a few days ago.
the reason they are budget cats as they are far slimmer hence lowering running costs dramatically
Comment for the algorithm
you da best
👍🏽
Very annoying to listen to this dude call people idiot over and over .
then dont watch, OMG what a concept
