Last concert my ass! Just like Scorpions last tour hahah . You gotta know tough guys like Rolf will play till they die. Problem is guys like him are a diyng breed nowadays. Thank you Rock n Rolf for coming back. I still remember when I was four and my father used to play me Pile of skulls full album. Did a lot of headbanging on the living rooom couch for many years in front of the stereo with that album. I litteraly grew uo with this music.

I wanted to go to that show, I would've gone to wacken just for them from france, but unfortunately, wacken was already sold out when they announced Running wild's last show ever.
Anyway, a big thank you to Rolf and the band for the true heavy metal he brought to us, if I get this luck, I'll definitely pay tribute to Rw in the future as a musician.

@wumpscut1 yea what do you think I do ? I get up in the morning and play Phantom of the black hand hill BEFORE I go to the toilet ! :) RW is one of about 5 bands that I know every single note by heart, and by far the most beloved , I have a Nightwish revival band where I play keyboard and I always show up in a pirate outfit... just to show the younglings what they are missing, in my eyes they need to know

@wumpscut1 Oh jeah, the 2002 DVD was total Computersound, triggered drums without life and protools on evereything else. That´s real Metal, that´s live! ;-) If you want live sound like a CD, don´t go to a real concert! My oppinion
@wumpscut1 I did notice the vocals are quite different from the 2002 live show on DVD, hard to tell after they do the final mix of the live if it will sound like this

yeah in the intereview after the show Rolf mentioned something about the guy not showing up to all the rehearsals- hopefully Rolf or someone has the patience to fix these parts in pro tools or whatever they mix it with at the end- cut and paste? maybe....

@medouch this is the direct broadcast, dvd releases they eq stuff like that etc. Since this is write off the soundboard not sure if it could be typical or not at Wacken. We may never see that DVD though i worrry
@medouch i totally agree, i think it should have been like the 2002 DVD, like a smaller venue, with greater control over sound etc. for the last show but - what can we do now- i just play the albums alot - it works out solid
OK, Jan S. Eckert is definitely NOT Jens Becker or Thomas Smuszynski, which means that he played the songs in his own way - I personally have no problems about that, and the sound of the bass is quiet OK. I only have problems about the sunglasses...
@medouch yes the no subtitles is a major problem for me for sure- plus the extras being so little- not the way i thought this would be released

@wumpscut1 Okay the DVD finally arrived and heres my impressions - the sound is FIXED. And concerning Rolf only had the stereo mix to work with , and he actually managed to get the instruments sound at the right level , that is something. The show itself is fantastic (although I miss some of my favorites) but what had me blazing was the background stuff.No subtitles, everything in german (WTF!!!) and tha background footage totals about 8 minutes (Jesus H. christ).The rest is interviews (German)
James Hetfield don`t speak german in america and english in germany,think of this :PP

@Simpson654 I love Metal (and Running Wild), but i have to say that the live sound of Metallica, Machine Head or the prog. rock band Porcupine Tree is way better!
And Porcupine Tree is much more to mix. Why can they do that? More love to the sound? More knowing? That´s why i don´t buy the last Albums of Running Wild, sounds like an Computeralbum to me. I want a real Sound! 15 Years ago, they make good sounding albums! Real Metal!

@wumpscut1 yea I know its live broadcast and the dvd will be fixed (if we ever see it :), but that means that all the guys who were there (lucky bastards btw) got this awful sound. Just saying , you shouldnt let some hilly billy sound guy set you up if your band is RUNNING WILD and you re playing your LAST SHOW EVER in fuckin WACKEN!
The bassist is bad.I listened to the audio version of the entire show and,just because of him,the show suck.Theres to many errors.I hope Rolf will re-recorded the bass because it's very bad.But the rest is very great.If you want a link for the entire show(audio)just ask me.
