I'm pretty sure this is an idea they had to make more use of their WOT models and a way of selling more of them. This will allow them to build more of the crazy tanks that are in WOT and have a secondary use/way to play with these tanks that have no place in their current games FOW, TY, FON ect.
Likely...but it also allow the crazy gamers to play in a different sandbox than those who want more Historical accuracy in FoW. It could be a great 'containment game'
I think they couldn’t just release it as FoW without upsetting the history buffs. Also I think they want to market it more as a casual quick play game, removing infantry which tends to slow down the gameplay in FOW. Seems like a good halfway point between Tanks/WoT and FoW.
From what I understand many/most these things will come to flames of war in a separate release. I think the idea with this release is to clearly appeal to new audiences, hence the fresh look.
I believe this was intended to make a place for the prototype/non historical vehicles that flames of war players typically don't want to have in their games.
Thanks for the video. I like the look of the models. Without infantry, artillery, and aircraft it should play faster and be a good intro game for FoW and TY. However, I don't like the same "I go you go" system. I wish with the fewer number of units that they had alternate or random unit activation like Bolt Action. If I do invest in this game that will be how I will be playing it.
I'm not much of an alternate history type but it does look cool. Kind of a shame the stat cards look so much like FoW/TY, I assume the rules will too. Just doesn't bring anything new to the table other than some fancy models.
Tank on Tank will depend heavy on those dynamic mission. In FoW tank vs tank gameplay is missing so much tactical stuff the game is offering, that it just scratch on the system. My hope is that it might trigger some new people to enter FoW.
I'm glad they separated this from FoW. It's bad enough hearing the cries of manbabies when they announce things like Mid-War Monsters or Late-War Leviathans. Don't need some rivet counter gate keeping because your tank has the wrong shade of green paint.
HARD PASS for me..! I have absolutely no interest in fantasy Tanks and a 1948 war scenario. I'd rather just play Warhammer 40k. Sadly, we still have no current Jagdpanther sets available for WWII...!
I guarantee that the Soviets will be completely anemic. British tanks will have ROF 2 AT 19, Soviets will have ROF 1 AT 15 Slow Firing. BF have a complete rectal-cranial inversion when it comes to evaluating Soviet gear, especially when compared with the also-ran Allied minor power called the UK.
Which is hilarious because in Team Yankee the Warsaw pact rules the tables pretty much in "good enough" guns for dirt cheap in points. Anyway clash of steel is a waste imo. They still have other wars like the Korean War, the other Arab wars, and the promised Checkpoint charlie to work on. Not a Tank game that does not cater to your target audiences. World of Tanks players and Historical gamers. With how much of a bitch fit those historical gamers had over mid war leviathans (and soon to be late war leviathans) this game is going to make them even more insufferable.
@@DeadGamesSociety At FoW Nationals in January (LVO 2024), there were 50 players: 8 British lists, 3 Finn, 23 German, 1 Romanian, 4 Soviet and 11 American. Did you play Soviets at LVO and how did they do? They were only 8% of the field, tied with Minors that are extremely hard to even collect. Soviets have all their books and the models are easy to get, yet they were only a tiny fraction of competitive lists fielded. We both know why that is.
I will be diving in as soon as this comes out. Alternate history is right up my alley, and I want those T29s!

I would love to have super heavies in flames of war - this will definitely scratch that itch for fictional scenarios!

FYI: Gale Force 9 has a "Clash of Steel" FaceBook page.

One of my favorite things about this game is "NO INFANTRY" so the games will play much faster and smoother in terms of game speed.
Agreed TJ, Infanty, especially in assaults, are the most fiddly rules in the game.
This looks a lot better than Warlord's new tank game.

Its actually great that the cards are similar for obvious reason.
Tanks are what made me want to play Flames of War and Team Yankee, infantry and aircraft (Team Yankee) is why I don't want to play anymore.

I think that's my take on it. A fun and easy gateway into FOW and TY.
Seems like a step up from world of tanks to then get players into either FoW or TY
Could because they want it tank v tank without the infantry in Flames of War
Shermans are in this game! Huzzah!

World of tanks is dreadful. Warthunder is better in every regard.
I haven't played world of Tanks (PC) in years but I still play World of Warships. Never tried Warthunder though.

Maybe I'm thinking wrong but I think that the latest plastic Panther box has parts to make the Jagdpanther?
@@AllMiniaturesGreatandSmall
Yes, that box is unfortunately also no longer in Production... :(
@@chriscamp60 It looks like GBX181 is currently available on the online store, unless I'm mistaken. There also seem to be a bunch on Ebay.
Battlefront is looking for "Hype Idiots."

Bruh.... Soviets play different. Don't make me make a video on this....
