    Best tutorial I have found on removing the dash. I am redoing the entire interior of my '96 Chevy silverado and had removed everything but the dash because I had no idea which bolts to remove. If not for this video, I may have had every single bolt and screw laying in the floor.

    Doing a frame up restoration and swapping the v6 for a bored and stroked 427 in a 96 c1500. This gave me just the information that I needed to get mine out. It’s a chore but I think it’ll be worth it just to be able to rework the air conditioning components behind there and to get some sound deadening put in. Now is the time to get it right because I never want to go back into it again. Never.

    I got a 99 Chevy Tahoe & I had my control panel stop working, it won't kick the A/C Compressor on,even since removal of the Control Panel & a friend suggested replacement of a temperature switch I think it is, but regardless before I flush & fill the coolant after an overheating issue may have blown a seal,I put a sealant leak stop in & got it up to temp & it's no longer blowing white smoke out, indicating coolant in engine & oily residue in coolant reservoir & want to flush/fill but want heat working again, esp in cold north & to allow coolant to flow freely through the whole system for flush, to flow through heater core too, but that 1 screw behind the metal bracket on blend door is seemingly impossible to get to, no room to get your hand or a tool in..seems even if you took out whole dash, you're still not be able to get to the right screw, since it's blocked by that metal bar/bracket, which seems basically immovaable..any ideas?? please help.. Did you get that blend door on the blower motor out? & if so how in the heck did you do it. I swear the "Flat Head Engineers, are alumni of "ScrewU" ugh, such a pain in the neck!

    A 97 gmc suburban full dash (gauge cluster, double din, ac, glove box) can swap directly over your a 97 sierra sl?
    I ask because I have a chance to buy that suburban for practically nothing. It had a 5.7 and runs good. There's lots I can take and swap over to my truck. She's a basic WT with 5 spd manual. What's that structural bar called you talking about removing around 3:35? With four 15mm nuts and the hidden 7mm screw? And it's also what you have to pry out around 10:40. Is that a single piece bar or can one side, specifically the passenger side be taken out without removing the dash. I ask because it is keeping me from being able to cut into the air box to get to the evaporator.

    • @BENTLEYSAUTOPARTS
      @BENTLEYSAUTOPARTS  5 лет назад

      Good morning, that bat with the 15mm bolts has to come off. Its just a brace to hold the left side together. once you get the nuts off, it will slide right off. the 7mm bolt goes into a brace on the firewall. I dont know why they did that, but its to the right of the 15mm nut that holds on that brace. the two braces behind the steering column, are not one piece. They are two 1omm bolts if I remember right. I do them last with the dash loose, so I have room to get to them. Its tight, but with some wiggling they will come out. Hopefully that helps.

They actually have a cubby that will replace the airbag , just bolts right in place. physically they will both bolt in just fine.

      Im glad it helped you. I actually think thats a simple fix. It sounds to me like its the flasher, or a relay box on your drivers side fuse panel. There should be a schematic under the cover.

      It will physically fit, but the harness, sensors, and computers would be different. There would be some modifying to do.

      You have to go in the engine bay, on the fire wall there are a bunch of bolts you need to remove on the fire wall. Make sure your ac lines are evacuated first before undoing the evaporator!
