Best tutorial I have found on removing the dash. I am redoing the entire interior of my '96 Chevy silverado and had removed everything but the dash because I had no idea which bolts to remove. If not for this video, I may have had every single bolt and screw laying in the floor.
Hey. I wanted to thank you for this thorough step-by-step guide to removing the dash. With you video and one other video specifically on the Heater/AC box, I have successfully fixed my AC and reassembled everything. Much appreciated.
Well made video. Even wiring harness was easy to remove from dashboard. Just start from passenger side. Remove the vent from the back. Whole harness pops right out.
Thanks.. I was considering tearing out my old crumbling plastic dash and making my own out of wood and relocate the factory radio and AC controls and make room for a double din radio and custom light controls and stuff. Your video helped me see how big of a project the dash is by itself.
You sir, are a steely eyed missile man! Now I have the nerve to pull mine and replace it with a "new to me" dash. Thanks for the fantastic, detailed video!

I also would like to just thank you for the tutorial it was very helpful while i was instaling ac in my non ac truck i would just add that there were another 2 or 3 plugs on the driver side and no cutting of any wires was needed!
Doing a frame up restoration and swapping the v6 for a bored and stroked 427 in a 96 c1500. This gave me just the information that I needed to get mine out. It’s a chore but I think it’ll be worth it just to be able to rework the air conditioning components behind there and to get some sound deadening put in. Now is the time to get it right because I never want to go back into it again. Never.
I'm ok with knowing that I can't do everything, because this is something I definitely would not want to do. Much respect to mechanics! Once you find a reputable one, it's an awesome feeling.
You should make a video of how to install the dash. It's way easier taking things apart! I followed you removal tutorial and it was perfect! Putting back on was a whole other enchilada.
I absolutely needed this tutorial. My wife's 98 K1500 Silverado needs both a new heater core and the AC condenser (or is it the evaporator). This has saved me a bunch of blood and cussing. Thank you. I may just subscribe!

Thank you so much for this video!! I have been looking for a good video on how to do this. Restoring my 98 k1500 and replacing the dash. This will help me so much. I appreciate you taking the time to do this video!!
How did yours go. I bought one from a junk yard and am going to replace mine this week. Is there anything out there about how to do wiring. Looks like they cut the wires on the one I'm going to replace with. How did your wiring go?

I got a 99 Chevy Tahoe & I had my control panel stop working, it won't kick the A/C Compressor on,even since removal of the Control Panel & a friend suggested replacement of a temperature switch I think it is, but regardless before I flush & fill the coolant after an overheating issue may have blown a seal,I put a sealant leak stop in & got it up to temp & it's no longer blowing white smoke out, indicating coolant in engine & oily residue in coolant reservoir & want to flush/fill but want heat working again, esp in cold north & to allow coolant to flow freely through the whole system for flush, to flow through heater core too, but that 1 screw behind the metal bracket on blend door is seemingly impossible to get to, no room to get your hand or a tool in..seems even if you took out whole dash, you're still not be able to get to the right screw, since it's blocked by that metal bar/bracket, which seems basically immovaable..any ideas?? please help.. Good morning, that bat with the 15mm bolts has to come off. Its just a brace to hold the left side together. once you get the nuts off, it will slide right off. the 7mm bolt goes into a brace on the firewall. I dont know why they did that, but its to the right of the 15mm nut that holds on that brace. the two braces behind the steering column, are not one piece.
